Owner failed to open on time AGAIN!!! Gym is supposed to open at 5 AM but the owner ( Paul) can never keep reliable help. 15 cars in parking lot everyone angry and Paul is sound asleep. Terrible business. The gym is filthy, and the garbage cans outside the front door overflowing with pizza crusts and soda cans.

Great local gym my mom loves. She uses the trainers here and really enjoys and benefits from it. I started coming with her as a guest when I was visiting. I got my own membership on a promo, which rotate and can be pretty good. Has all the basic equipment, well maintained, and never smelly. Gym has no issue with me being trans, nor should they, but it's still important to highlight safe community spaces as much as it is the hostile ones.

Never trust a co. that tries to send you shady bills like this, esp after the bank sided with you on the dispute!!

I highly recommend any trainer at this gym but my favorites are Corey, Sean, and Alex.

After just a few short weeks of intensive work-outs with David, we experienced a level of relief from joint problems (affecting knees, hips, shoulders, ankles and wrists) that had seemed unattainable despite several rounds of effort with physical therapists and consultations with orthopedists. David clearly has a keen understanding of joint function and inter-relationships among different parts of the body and nervous system, and a skilled eye for subtle signs of injury, muscle imbalance and misalignments. He not only designs the customized workouts to solve the problem, but also is passionate about educating clients on how to move with greater agility, flexibility and strength in ways that minimize toxic stress and build resilience to injury and the effects of aging, making it a great investment that goes well beyond our short-term recovery goals. He has a quirky and humorous style with enough "drill sergeant" to help you move beyond your comfort zone and accomplish things you wouldn't have thought possible or even worthwhile (like dead-lifting 150 lb), but balanced with enough support and encouragement to keep you from getting pissed off and discouraged. Absolute Fitness is a very positive, welcoming environment. The other trainers are also extremely friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging, and they foster good camaraderie among each other and their clients. It's fun and inspiring to cheer each other on as we try new things and struggle to build more strength and skill.

I can't say enough about UTG! This place has changed how I feel both mentally and physically!…read moreThere's an unexpected camaraderie here that you don't find anywhere else. Everyone supports each other and is respectful of one another. Constantly amazed at how my training is carefully thought out and planned each day with just the right amount of "you can do it" and "great job!" I have never met a trainer as knowledgeable as Patrick and love that he can explain the physiology behind everything. Since starting here, I feel so much better about myself on every level! The fact that I can work out at 5 am is extremely convenient for me but I know there are also a lot of people who like the evening hours better because of their schedules. The bottom line is...anybody who is wondering whether they should try this place out..do it! I highly recommend it..you will be so happy you did!

Had very high hopes for this place…read more Without going into all that I was disappointed with, the one thing that sticks with me on a daily basis is the severe tendinitis achieved by my 4th day. I'm unable to workout anything that requires lifting with my arms. Lifting a coffee mug is painful. Dr diagnosed me with tendinitis in both arms, the right being much worse than the left. Said it was from doing the same repetitive motions a few days in a row with heavy weight. He was shocked that anyone would suggest doing the same movements day after day. ... especially benching. The Dr was flabbergasted that UTG suggested I keep doing the same movements, even after pain was recognized. It only made the condition of my tendinitis worse. Apparently the young kid, who owns this place, has his own style of training - and was quite offended when I questioned it. Every Dr and physical therapist who I met with so far, thought that his "training protocols" were ridiculous and quick to injure. Hopefully, with tons of pt and rest, I'll be able to work out again in a few months. last gem on the situation: e-mail from the owner... "FWIW - since you're so smart - i suggest you read a book or two about what evidence based training protocols look like. Then come back and apologize for being clueless. Take care."

The people that work there are super friendly and always say hello to you when you walk in. They also have the fitlinxx system in place so that you can track your workouts and keep an online diary of your progress. The locker rooms are also super clean and have digital locks so you don't have to bring your own locks. I guess where this place lacks the 5, 4 , or even 3 star rating some times is in the price for what you get. The equipment is fairly outdated for spending $70/month to be a member there. I have also noticed that things take forever to get repaired if they breakdown. I believe they just changed over management which means that everything could be better now, but this was a huge issue when I was there. I also had issues with getting new machines and free weight exercises added to my fitlinxx profile. I asked a few different times, and they trainers that they have to assist you were unable to add new exercises in. It wasn't a huge deal, but was something that was annoying when you expect this great system to have exercises for all the equipment that they provide. Overall as I stated in the beginning. I went to this gym for over a year and really enjoyed it. If the gym was $20-$50/month it would be a 5 star joint in my book. For the price however...join New York Sports Club in Westwood. Twice as nice, and has alot more modern equipment.

A fair amount of time there are no trainers on the floor, and the front desk actually let me go for 2-weeks before I NOTICED that I had to renew my annual membership. God only knows how much longer I could have gone without paying. They have no electronic workout tracking systems. The antiquated system they had is no barely functional because the company that runs and maintains it went out of business last January. I suspect they are getting ready to shut the place down. But if they aren't they really need to put some money into it and upgrade it to the 21st century. The new managers there are really running the place poorly.

There is plenty of parking in the lot. I took the Restore class with Francesca, and it was great. I've found workouts that I've tolerated over the years, but I always end up falling off. But something about Row House just feels different. Firstly, it's so close to my house and fits so well into my schedule, so that is really what prompted me to give it a try. I've taken two classes with Lynn, and I can't believe how good I feel. The rowing machine addresses so many of the issues I usually deal with - primarily knee pain and lower back pain which usually prevent me from being able to work my core properly or to do floor exercises well. Because the machine is so low-impact, I got an incredible full body workout without irritating any of my usual problem areas, and also without feeling like I wanted to die during the class (which is how spin class makes me feel). I like that there isn't any change in resistance to contend with. The difficulty of the workout is ENTIRELY up to your body, based on how fast you row and how hard you push with your legs, so I never felt like my body couldn't handle the machine. My body literally only did what it was capable of, and left me with a very healthy but not overwhelming soreness the next day. After trying two different class types, I decided to buy an 8 pack of classes. I've already scheduled my next 3 classes, and I'm considering adding on another one tomorrow. I'll probably end up buying a monthly unlimited plan. Thanks to Lynn and everyone at Row House for being so welcoming and encouraging. I almost cried today in class because I feel like I finally found something I can do with confidence. It really means the world.
