The owners, Dan, Pat, and Justin have created a community that is welcoming of all CrossFit skill levels. Their coaching style is hands on and supportive, which helps a ton when you're trying to squeeze out 50 or 75 burpees or learn handstand push-ups. The fact that CFTR is located in a Gold's Gym is a major plus in that, as a CFTR member, you are entitled to use certain of Gold's facilities, including the showers (a rarity for most CrossFit boxes). The coaches exhibit their sincere interests in helping people find progress in their fitness, whatever their goals may be. From what I've heard of Crossfit, I had different expectations, and find that these coaches do it correctly. Every affiliate is different, and everyone's needs may follow. I started with him at a different OTF studio in summer of 2018, currently have him as a personal trainer since May of 2021, and followed him to the Totowa studio where I go periodically in addition to the personal training. I'll start by saying that I've probably tried to write this review 20 times but never felt like I could find the words fit to describe how much this man has helped me. I still don't feel like I can do him justice here but gotta give it my best shot. He is hands down the most inspiring, energizing, optimistic and professional human (yes, not just fitness instructor but of any human overall) with whom I have ever engaged. He is INCREDIBLY good at what he does - both from his own hard work, dedication and discipline for his craft, and because he truly has a gift for elevating everyone around him. He's also brave and proud (hello pivoting from a previous career to follow his dreams in fitness and helping others), and made of integrity. I feel incredibly lucked to have happened upon Coach H by randomly signing up for my preferred time slots without regard to who the instructor was when I first started going to OTF. I was in the worst shape of my life, and sporadically doing lackluster workouts by myself at home was not getting me anywhere. When OTF opened in my city I decided to commit, but that was the type of decision I had made and failed at a million times before. Fast forward a few months and I noticed that I'm less likely to cancel a class if he's the instructor vs. anyone else. He works so hard for you, and you just end up constantly motivated to do the same. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the variable that's lead to my success this time around, after a lifetime of failed attempts, is Coach H. Absolute best decision, best money I've ever spent. I don't care if you're an elite athlete or haven't worked out once ever - Coach H can meet you where you're at mentally and physically, and make you better than you are. You just better come correct, because he will be wholly dedicated to you and your process. I owe this man my life.

I dropped in unannounced and Blake dropped what he was doing (not coaching at the time) and warmly greeted me. Then Deb quickly reached out and set me up with a drop in class. Again, as soon as I walked in for class Joe was there to greet me by name and check-in with me prior to class. I am an experienced CrossFiter and the level of coaching and customer service I received should be the bench mark for all boxes. Will drop an update in a few months if my progress :)

I am a coach at another studio in San Diego. I was visiting my girlfriend for a few days and she…read morebrought me to this location! As soon as I walked through the doors everyone was accommodating and kind. Izzy and Erica placed us in class and hooked me up with a HR monitor since I did not have mine on me for the 12 minute benchmark. Bless them for that because, let me tell you guys, it makes a HUGE difference! The lobby has a great layout, bathrooms and showers in the back and lockers to put your belongings. You can tell the community in the studio is tight knitted which was nice to see. Many people knew each other and welcomed one another to their hour of fun together. Now for the workout bit: We had Coach Viktor! Great guy and coach. He excited all of us with some history behind the endurance challenge we were about to conquer and welcomed every single member with a fist bump as they walked in. I was fired up! I started on the treads and got my benchmark over with. For those reading this who are unfamiliar with the 12 minute benchmark, it is a tread for distance to see how far you can travel in 12 minutes. The soundtrack Vik played was perfect and kept me motivated during my benchmark (and the rest of the workout when I felt fatigued). Coach checked in on us every quarter of the benchmark with form and motivational ques. You can tell he is super knowledgeable and speaks from experience! Rest of the class was a blast with my bestie and her mom. All equipment in the studio was clean and presentable. There were several weight selections available which helped me gradually increase the weight in my sets. What a great workout. Post workout: Had a nice cool down and took a fun boomerang with Coach Vik and my friend. The vibes were high. I 10/10 recommend this studio! One of the highlights of my trip was coming here. Definitely drop into Viktors class if you get a chance. I had the pleasure of meeting Coach TJ as well and he's next on my list!!!
