At least twice a week they…read moreshut down one side entire side, which consist of 3 rows, totaling 20 treadmills; then on the very next day they close the other side (about 15 or so machines. When I ask them why they do this they claim they are cleaning the area, but I never see anyone cleaning absolutely nothing. Whatever the case, how do you shut down 20 machines at a time during the busy AM hours? Everyone is waiting for the treadmills, meanwhile, they have so many people jammed together while COVID is still in play. There are even some instances where member try to plug the machines themselves. This doesn't make sense to me at all for why this location shut down these machines during this busy period of the day. Why not clean the machines at night when you close.

There are free weights and equipment ALL OVER the floor! Nothing seems like it's placed in its rightful spot. I quickly learned that members here don't rerack weights or put equipment back after they are finished using. The place is already fairly small so the fact that there is equipment scattered all over the floor makes getting a good workout almost impossible. Speaking of equipment, it's very limited. I can only speak for the women's locker room but it wasn't clean. Also you can only sign up for a year contract which gives scam to me so I'd just avoid this place altogether if I was you. We have paid faithfully month after month for a decade. We recently even added a brand-new membership for our 13-year-old son because we believed in this gym and planned to continue here as a family. Tonight was supposed to be a meaningful family moment. My older son, who is ACTIVE DUTY U.S. ARMY, is visiting and wanted to work out with us. These moments are rare when your child serves our country. We were excited to train together as a family. All I asked for was a simple one-day courtesy pass. Not a free month. Not special treatment. Just one workout. The front desk didn't even try to help. They did not offer to check with a manager. They did not try to find a solution. They did not show any empathy. They simply said, "That will be $20," and that was it. After 10+ years of loyalty, a brand-new youth membership, and an active-duty soldier standing in front of them, they showed zero flexibility and zero humanity. This wasn't about money. It was about respect. The lack of appreciation for long-term members and military families is shocking. My children watched this happen -- including my son who serves this country -- and it was embarrassing and heartbreaking. A company this large should understand loyalty, family, and service. Unfortunately, LA Fitness Kearny showed none of those values tonight. We left feeling disrespected and seriously reconsidering continuing our memberships. Very disappointing.

However, for the past year, the zumba program has been very disappointing. There used to be 3 evening classes, but now there's barely 2. There are no instructors for either class. There are substitutes who sometimes don't even show up, even though the schedule indicates different. On many occasions, we show up for class, and while waiting, we realize that there's no instructor. This matter is extremely upsetting, and disrespectful to us, the clients who pay exorbitant fees for this program. I have written several letters to the corporate office, but there has been no response, and things have only gotten worse. This gym needs to make a concerted effort to provide the services that we're paying for. I am seriously considering terminating my contract. I also want to add that this sentiment is also vehemently expressed by other class members.
