Update: pool and jacuzzi were clean today. Pins have been replaced on weight machines. Jean did a great job overseeing the pH of the hot tub and assured me renovations are coming. He said the fly/pec machine that has been sitting there unusable for over a year will be removed and hopefully replaced. The carpet still is in desperate need of replacement The water fountain in the pool area is out of order and there's water damage to the walls around the jacuzzi that's unsightly. I still enjoy these people, though. read more

This gym isnt respected in the way it shoild be. It's too dirty and crowded all the damn time. Theres alot of camera tripods and Instagram hopefuls here. Also the water bottles/ towels/clothes/bags are strewn over machines because someone's always "using it" from the other side of the gym. I normally will remove whatever's "place holding" equipment since phones, towels, and water bottles or any inanimate object cannot work out. But after 4 years of being here, and dealing with this daily, I'm done. Y'all win. I've canceled and will be going someplace else from now on. read more

Don't trust the employees! When I first signed up, I went there with a free try-out pass from their website-- but when I got there they said my e-mail pass, but I could buy a day-pass for $20, and if I signed up that day, they'd refund me the money. No sweat, I thought, I was looking to sign up for a membership anyway. Well, I did sign up, and mentioned that they owe me a $20 reimbursement, and the salesman (Malik) said he had to talk to his manager, but he'd have him give me a call. I never got that call. I emailed customer service through the website about the issue, and got a response saying that I was already issued a refund, even though there's no record of it. Anyway, the point is, this is just an example of how weird and petty they are. I mean, with all their random fees, and me paying them monthly, they're just going to take an extra $20? Besides that, I feel like every time I go in, there's more broken equipment-- machines with broken joints, benches with pads missing, and it's hard to even find a bike machine that functions properly. There are other gyms in the area-- I wish I shopped around more. read more

Shout out to Andrea. She is really making a different at the gym. I requested some weights that were missing in the gym and they were there in a matter of days. And she has other weights and equipment that's been missing from the gym on the way. She even mentioned she's looking to put an end to customers needing to complain. Sold me a 3-month personal training program and told me no commitments due after it ends. Actually did 4 months and then was told I could renew month to month. After 5th month I told them I was done and I wanted to cancel personal fitness program. They dinged my credit card anyway and then when I asked them for a refund they said they could only do a 50% refund for that month and that I ALSO would owe them 50% of the following month's personal training commitment. Total bullshit and now I have to put a stop on my debit card and get a new one so they can't auto charge me for this shyte. Run run away from these crooks. read more

Malik tried to pull a fast one on me. I was supposed to sign up today with another rep for customer appreciation promo. He said that rep was out of office tomorrow and there was no such promo, so I signed up with him last night. I get a call today confirming my appointment to review the $0 down options for the customer appreciation day. When I told him I signed up last night and was lied to about the promo and being out of the office, and I put $180 down and wanted this to be resolved. he said I wasn't eligible for the promo. Then why did he call to confirm? Your co-worker just cost you comp. After I said I would cancel, he tried to put me on a $0 down plan for $60/mo. That's not even a promo. Staff either doesn't know what the equipment is called or just try to point you away because they know it's broken so you have to find an alternative. Theres only one assisted leg press and there's no seat, no out of order sign, which is usually all over the place here. It's literally a pole sticking up and the platform for your feet. Don't plan on finding any leg equipment available. Also, nobody reracks. Weights are scattered along the gym floor. Most equipment is old and/or broken. You just have to make due. I chose this gym for the pool and spa amenities. If you check the Facebook group, you'd know the pool has been in maintenance for months. Dirty bathrooms, all hangers on ladies bathroom doors are gone. Staff constantly lies about this as this is their main selling point. If you're looking for pool, spa. Look elsewhere. Also, if they tell you that you need to go in to cancel, that's another lie. Just log into the portal. read more

We came to this location hoping to change gyms from where we are currently members. Luckily, we took advantage of the free three day pass before committing to anything. On our first day, the first two treadmills my spouse stepped on were broken. On day 2, the first two treadmills I stepped on were broken. We did notice a lot of signs on other equipment saying that it was broken. It definitely seems like the maintenance at this facility is lacking. On top of the broken machines, the locker room was rather dirty with several stalls appearing to be out of toilet paper. I discussed all of this with the club manager on our second day and he let me know that he recently had been transferred to this location and he was going to try his best to fix all of these issues. In the clubs defense, it appears that people do not report the broken equipment so that it can be repaired in many situations. We also spoke to other members who made comments such as "it always seems like everything is broken here." I overheard another member reporting that the vending machines weren't working properly. We were really excited about joining here but unfortunately will not be at this time. Hopefully things will improve in the future but until that happens we won't be wasting our money here. There are other LA fitnesses in the area that I would check out, instead. I also recommend that if you're considering joining that you use a free trial like we did before making a financial commitment to join. read more

I want to like this gym... It's close to my home. They have a pool. My go to supermarket is in the same complex. If you go during peak time; you will have to wait to be checked in, wait for a machine, wait for the pool/shower and this gym is filthy. But this week I've had enough. At any given time that I've visited this gym it's been filthy. That's early in the morning, mid morning, afternoon, evenings, weekends ... does not matter, the machines are dusty. I can only assume that no one cleaned 'em. The pool area also goes for several days without being cleaned. Example: (during a pandemic) I complained about cleaning the pool area for TWO weeks before it was "cleaned." BUT not only is this gym filthy, the staff is unprofessional, borderline creepy, and facilitate an environment that encourages scum behavior AND that's why I can't with this gym anymore. Of course, like all gyms there are a group of customers who are there to meet their next hookup. And no judgement but being followed to my car, in the evening, by "the manager," so he could ask me out, AFTER I ALREADY EXPRESSED I WAS NOT INTERESTED, was too Law and Order SVU. I've complained enough to the staff and I've complained enough to corporate. The fact is, LA Fitness is way too expensive to be this crappy annnddd I really would like to NOT be a victim when all I want to do is workout. read more

Pros: Facility is spacious with a few amenities, including a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, racket ball, basketball, and studio for Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, and other classes, in addition to the machines. Personal trainer, Eslam, is nice, flexible, and knowledgeable. Cons: Parking is a huge mess, especially during peak times, gym can get overcrowded, jacuzzi gets turned off and is dirty before closing time, lack of gym etiquette with some users sitting on machines and texting, gym manager makes himself scarce and scale shamed me, during my initial assessment and wouldn't let me opt out of a weigh in. Very poorly run. The hand sanitizers are empty but yet the sign above them asks you to please wipe down the equipment after using it. WITH WHAT!!! There's no sanitizer. The Manager told me last week that a shipment was received and the sanitizers would be filled up. NOT!! They've still been empty every day. How unsanitary... and in a gym no less. The single bathroom on the gym floor - door is broken and unusable. Bathroom in the mens locker room. In one stall, the toilet paper dispenser is half broken and the paper falls off the spindle when you pull on it. In another stall the dispenser is bent down and ready to come off the wall. It is totally unacceptable in this post covid environment, in a workout gym, to have no sanitizer!!!! And when you complain too much, management gets indignant and just makes excuses. read more

So its very obvious when someone quits the cleaning crew. The female locker room is nasty. There's no toilet seat covers in the stalls, the bench's are nasty and the sinks don't have hot water and sometimes no soap. Very weird in these times giving our current health and safety posture. The carpet also smells like mildew at times. The sells men approach you on the floor which if your truly working out, not stopping mid set to chat. Find another approach on providing training sessions. So in a nutshell, if you're looking for a gym to get in and out, bring your own supplies. Walk straight up to the scanner to check in. Usually there's a line for some odd reason. Oh and if your looking to spin on a bike...dont select one of the 20 broken bikes in the far left corner. Never quite understood how members pay a monthly fee but the bikes are NEVER replaced or repaired. Ive been a member probably since the place has been open. The rowers are broken too. I've been a member of LA fitness for several years and I'm just done with this gym. On March 16th and June 6th the gym was not open when I went in the morning at 7:30 in the morning even though it should have been opened at 5 am. As frustrating as that was, what I find really troubling is the complete lack of communication during this issue and the lack of accountability after, even after multiple attempts reaching out through their customer service channel. Below is the timeline of how I tried to reach out to them and their complete disregard of my concerns: 6/6 - I sent my original email regarding concerns to customer service. 6/12 - I was contacted by Andrew and told I would be called the following day to discuss my concerns. No call ever came. 6/15 - I reached out to Andrew since I haven't heard anything and still haven't a week later. Please see my response to Andrew's email. 6/21 - sending yet another email to customer support because my issue has not been resolved. Don't waste your membership traveling to this location. The staff aren't the least bit helpful. They can't seem to keep any cleaning equipment stocked, or pairs of weights together....yet staff seem to be constantly floating around. A few years ago, I went for a tour in this gym when they had just opened. At the time, the staff was unprofessional, and so I never returned. Fast forward to post pandemic, decided to return, and I was pleasantly surprised by the staff. Although I wished that it wasn't one-level, they have superb equipment. Only think I think they need to pay more attention to is the fact that there are people who park in the handicapped parking spots without the appropriate decals; Alot of seniors work out there. The only reason I use this facility is its proximity to where I live. The gym is poorly maintained and much of the equipment is either out dated, in need of replacement or under repair. Rare to find machines wiped down and cleaned. Hand sanitizer is rarely available nor are paper towels. Many dispensers are empty or broken. As for general cleaning, the Treadmills most times have crumpled paper towel remnants left in canister holder. Weights are rarely picked up off of floor or returned. Facility needs to hire a kick ass manager and more janitorial staff to get this place in order! read more

Worst kept gym I've been to. The weights are literally scattered all over the gym. The equipment is old/dated and is always broken. The water fountains need replacing. I tried to talk with the manager one day after a workout, she was busy so I left my name and number for her to call me. She called me, left a message, I called back, left another message, I've never heard back from her. Not sure who the owner is but he or she, is not putting any money back into the gym. And...I went in last week, they didn't have any disinfectant to wipe down the equipment after sweating all over it. read more

I joined earlier this month and have been at least 6 times. This gym is perfect for my needs. 5 mins from my house, all the workout equipment I need, has a pool, and plenty of machines. The gym so far has never been busy leaving me to go through my workout routine quickly. The monthly price is very reasonable for what you get. In addition to all the cardio machines, nautilus machines, and pool---they also have a basketball court, handball courts, classes (Zumba, cycling), steam room, whirlpool, and more. They offer personal trainers. Parking area is large and never do I not find parking. I do think some of the machines could be updated. And I do wish they offered towels. Some of reasons people are complaining in the reviews are ridiculous. Some our unhappy unless they're being hand held all the time. read more

Top notch equipment, large workout area , multiple rooms for different functions but none of that matters at the end of the day. The bathroom is a absolute disgrace. There is a never ending supply of wet soggy toilet paper all over the bathroom. The stench is so bad I had to cover my nose so I didn't gag this morning. There was 4 people at the desk to check me in perhaps one of them actually do there job. Another thing, there is weights all over the place, the 70 pound dumbbells are in the 15 slot and the 15 pounders are not even there at all.. how hard is it to put the weights away at end of the day! Now with that said the pigs that put the toilet paper on the ground are a big part of the problem but perhaps if the staff cleaned up and emptied the garbage one a day the members would care more about their gym. If you are one of those people to leave weights all over the gym you are also part of the problem. Think about the elderly person looking for the small weights and the 85 is sitting there. I've been having a decent experience so far. I'm there frequently and usually doing cardio or weights. The gym has been clean, which is great. The annoying thing is people not racking the weights. The pool does get crowded. You have to know the sweet spot when to go, if your schedule allows. The pool didn't feel very well chlorinated when I first attempted the pool in December. I haven't been back to it lately to tell if there's a difference. I was just happy that it's a good temperature unlike the Secaucus location. The sauna, bathroom and lockers are typically clean. People do wipe down the machines. It's entirely your choice to wipe beforehand, but I see people wiping after more frequently, which is what we want! read more

The gym facilities are good enough. The pool is nice although the hot tub is out of commission more often than it's available. The locker rooms are decent. The staff is friendly enough. My problem is that the account managers/customer support staff outright lie to your face in an effort to prevent you from cancelling. After having moved from West Orange to Livingston, I visited this location to inform them that I no longer need membership to the gym and to cancel my account. I sat down with a gentleman there to go through the process, and at the end of our meeting, he explicitly and clearly told me that our family membership was cancelled and that I would no longer be charged the monthly membership going forward. I later found out that this was actually not the case as LA Fitness continued to charge me. When I disputed with my credit card company, we found out that what had happened was that LA Fitness only cancelled my wife's part of the family membership. I found this awfully convenient on their part seeing as how my wife put her membership on hold _immediately_ when we signed up as she was unsure of whether she would be able to find time with work to get to the gym, and she _never_ activated it, so it didn't change the monthly subscription at all and LA Fitness was out nothing from that. So now I've been charged with several months' worth of membership to a gym I have not visited in ages, and the credit card company says their hands are tied because the cancellation policy says I have to send them a letter even though the account manager at the location said that it's perfectly fine to cancel in person and that I didn't need to do _anything_ else to cancel. I have given up trying to convince my credit card company to stop the charges. I am sending a cancellation letter today, and I'm going to report this incident to the Better Business Bureau as well. If you aren't concerned about getting lied to and swindled by an unscrupulous company looking to trap you and just care about a good enough gym in which to exercise, LA Fitness should be fine for you. If you're concerned about dealing with untrustworthy business people, then maybe you should consider one of the other gyms in the area instead (although I can't speak to whether they're as desperate and ready to bald faced lie to you as LA Fitness is). read more

The next thing was look at my screen and this is how much you are to pay today and at no time was given any other options that I saw online for less money. I am here at 5 AM when it opens and there is trash all over the place, the machines have dried up sweat stains on them and the weights are strewn about the entire gym. Two rowing machines, both with broken foot straps. Six stair climbing machines - four broken. Two arm pedal machines - one with no seat, and the friction adjustment does not work on the other. Stationary bikes, the first two I got on were broken. Small lockers at the front desk have been "awaiting service" for about a month now. Bottom line - the equipment maintenance is very poor at this gym. Plenty of free weights and weight training machines, generally in good working order. They have a decent sauna, and they keep it reasonably hot (~170 - 180 F), but the staff does not enforce the "sauna culture" rules posted on the door (no cell phones, no street clothes, no sneakers, don't use the sauna to dry out your sweaty gym clothes, etc.). It's great that they have a lap pool. Only three lanes, but usually not too crowded. read more

Gym has what you need but it feels grimy inside. Lack of cleaning done by the employees especially in the men's locker room. I've noticed a piece of gum in the corner of one of the shower stalls, sitting there for almost two weeks now and that's how I know they don't clean. Don't join here!!!! I have worked out in all of the big brand gyms all around the country for many years. This is the worst run one I have ever seen. It is definitely the dirtiest and messiest too. I have been there mornings, afternoons and rush hours. Most of the dumbbells are laying all over the gym and never in their right place in the rack. The managers are out of shape and lazy as are most of the personal trainers and class instructors. Looking for a alternate gym now. The gym area is never supervised. People are running into and tripping on weights. If any plaintiff attorneys are looking for a expert witness in any member personal injury law suits, I am available. read more

I've caught the general manager in a lie twice in my two conversations with him. During the initial processes of sitting down with him, he tried to relay to me that there weren't cheaper options available and that the only way I was able to get the plan and rate that I knew was available was via an email promotion, and only then did he honor my request. My experience was not great, and I mailed corporate a letter in January to cancel my membership, only to find out yesterday that it hasn't been canceled. I spoke with the general manager, and he told me that he did not have the authority to cancel my membership and he could only do so while the operational manager was on duty the next day. I called the next day and was told there was no operational manager; the person hadn't been on staff in weeks, and the only person that could cancel was the general manager. If you have to resort to deceptive business practices to keep gain and keep customer business, then you're not the company for me. read more
