Overall, the gym seems pretty decent. I haven't used the pool, sauna, or hot tub yet, so I can't really review those. The equipment is in overall good shape, although there do seem to be some cardio machines that lack some of their original functionality (heartbeat sensors that don't work). The facility is pretty clean, and well organized, and I haven't seen any behavior by patrons or employees that would be off putting to anyone of any fitness level (and I should know, my strength is pretty poor right now). I can say that I definitely do not recommend that anyone use their personal training options as of now. I'm about six weeks into a six month contract (and very glad that I didn't sign up for one longer or with more/longer sessions)... and now have a third (fourth in one way) personal trainer... the first flaked and never showed for the first appointment (after the 'free personal training session' which was much more a hard sell session)... all communications except for the notice that a different trainer was assigned to me on that first paid session has been by text message, that, and only that communication was by email (which I didn't check until hours later)... no one at the gym knew about the change, either and, evidently, the other trainer was either not there or not that interested (I was at the cubicles where the pt's are based ten minutes early and stayed for at least five minutes after the scheduled time before going to do a workout on my own). The second (third?) trainer was great for a few weeks, but her schedule has now changed, so I've been shunted to a third (fourth?) trainer that I've met (I never met the second that was the rescheduled no show)... each of the three I've met has had a different focus and style, so six weeks into this, I still don't really have a set workout schedule because I haven't been able to settle into any kind of rhythm and routine. Presuming that I don't just give this up as wisdom earned, I expect no less than a few more weeks before anything changes... and who knows what else might happen between now and then. My initial goal was simply to improve my strength and possibly maximize the efficiency of my workouts as I'm getting older and coming off of an injury... six weeks has now been at least partially wasted while costing me a not insignificant amount of money and time. I would have been better off simply doing what I've done previously and working off of knowledge that's 20 years old but developing my own routine and simply doing my best... I would be farther along in improving my conditioning. If you're fine working out alone and don't need a (or want) a personal trainer, I would recommend that you consider this gym... otherwise, I'd recommend that you find somewhere else. read more

ive complained numerous times about all the guys who go into the sauna and jacuzzi (both public areas) in their boxer/briefs. You wouldnt do that at the swimming pool, why here? have some respect for your fellow gym members. ive spoken with other gym members directly and asked them to leave and go put on a swim suit, but ultimately, its not my job. put up a sign that's readable - there is one with small print that lists swimsuits as required, but its way down the list. 24 Hour Fitness had one sign on the entrance to the pool/sauna area with one message: "swimsuits required." also, maybe have consequences? one employee told me that all he could do was tell the person to leave. Um, yes, thats EXACTLY what you do, and you tell them that if it happens again their membership will be revoked. women and children use these areas (and me). besides, if it's ok for one person to wear underwear in the sauna, a public area, then everyone can do it, and im not sure thats a line any of us want to cross. toleration has its limits. read more

I know I made a mistake by coming back here after they didn't revoke the stalker old lady's membership and her best friend from making a scene on the floor and provoking violence. My gf put me under her referral and although I was reluctant to sign back up I sat down with Hugh. I should have just paid the day fee, but I wanted to check out their new location. Nice guy, but I don't think he knows what he's doing. Told us that we would both save $10 a month as long as we stayed members with her referral code. First month, $10 discount was fine and now no one can answer why this happened including Hugh who signed us up. He's referred me to their membership team and I keep getting disconnected and never actually connected to a person. I've emailed 3xs since May 2nd to the gm's email without a response. The only other way to cancel without calling or going in during "their hours" which I did the first time around, (they never stopped billing me even after 30 days). is to write a letter and won't start being processed until 30 days. I need this membership canceled. If you're reading this review, strongly consider it'll be the biggest pain in your you know what to cancel without anyone having a straight answer for you. This location is pretty run down, the new one is nice and newer with a woman's sauna. Stay away from the coed sauna here; it's gross. read more

I requested a freeze on my son and my membership at the front desk. The lady said "ok, we will freeze them." What she didn't tell me was that my son's was only frozen for 1 month and kept charging me. I called and the lady wouldn't refund me 5 months. So, now I will dispute with my bank. Horrible place! Do NOT join especially if you are handicap. The only handicap bathroom stall has broke for at least 6 weeks. People with mobility devices having to leave the bathroom stall door open when going to the bathroom. I continually asked when would it be fixed and there was always an excuse. There are trip hazards everywhere. The Personal Trainors are good but the equipment is not in good shape. In my last session two machines stopped working properly. Jessica at FC Headquters in TX twice said she would get to me and never did. I want to fully cancel my membership and personal training; they gave me a bogus # to call. They have the lowest employee retention I've ever seen. Every week there are new employees at the reception desk. I want to immediately get out of the contracts due to my Health and ADA Issues but no one at FC can help me do this! read more

I've been coming here mainly for convenience, but the gym is very worn down and poorly managed. They do basic cleaning, but it's not enough -- the men's locker room is filthy and always has a strong odor. The overall facility appears outdated and neglected. The equipment is older / tends to break down, and the place clearly needs real investment and renovation, not just surface-level upkeep. With proper management and some actual improvements, this could be a great gym, but right now it just feels like the potential is being wasted. read more

To make a long story short I was charged $149.66 to use this gym for a month. I explained that I was only visiting the area for a month and I needed a gym to continue my workouts. I was initially charged a fee of $25.68 to join and then another $32.99 for a monthly fee, I was then charged a $59 annual fee even though I cancelled the membership within 30 days! Now I being told I will be invoiced an additional $32.99 for an additional month of dues as I am responsible for a months of dues from the date of cancellation. Bottom line is don't trust this business and be aware of what you're signing. read more

Here is my 2nd review. I complained to main office and to front desk. More machines are broken. The treadmills that have been broken for 2 years still are. Now a leg press is down. I like the eliptical bike. There were 4 last month. Then a worker came to one. I asked if it was going to e fixed- he ignorance and took the two machines away saying he is the only repair man and he can't fix it. Now another of these machines are broken-only 1 working and we all want it. Why are we being charged for broken machines? Time to look into Planet Fitness read more

Today was my first day at my new gym, Fitness Connection in Sparks. I was greeted by Brett as I walked. I scanned my card and waited for my Assessment with Julio Soto, Assistant Club Manager. First off, I make a new friend named Sylvia. We exchange numbers and off to my assessment. Julio asks me about my goals and what I would like to work on. I told him I had a few machines in mind, and guess what....I got to try them all out! When we were dine, Julio put the machines on a card form e yo remember. I am personally feeling pretty great now...because, now I can walk into Fitness Connection and know what machines I want to work on...and why! I learned what each machine does for each part of my body. Knowledge is power. I said hello to James St. John, Club Manager and he was the person that called me today asking if I was coming. I'm so glad he called me! While I was walked through the club ti the next machine, I noticed that the club was very clean. Also, 3 of the machines were very new in the world of fitness equipment. Hoist Machines. Seated Dip? Bicep Curl and Chest Press. The machines are designed to give you a bit of help. It was fantastic! I felt really good trying them out. My favorite machine was the Assisted pull-up machine. It uses your body weight to assist you when you are doing pull-ups.I love this machine! I then went to the pool and met 2 more nice ladies. We again, exchanged numbers. This is how you make new friends. I got in the pool and to my astonishment, swan 6 laps. I went in the spa and the water was hot and bubbly. Both the pool and spa were clean and the temp in the pool not too cold. The temp in the spa, not too hot! As I walked out of the gym on my first day, I thanks Julio for a wonderful experience. If you are looking for a clean gym with a great monthly price of 10.00, classes, new equipment, a basketball court and a clean pool and spa. Just a note...Trainers are extra. Horrible gym they don't update your payments even thought you have personally talked to them and pay them off and even paid a month in advance they still have me as terminated the front desk barbies they can't even tell you about a simple question....when is my next payment due?...also the restroom next to the swimming pool...the door doesn't lock and the jacuzzi jets are always off the treadmills are unbalanced and the sauna is beyond dirty....I'm not going back to that gym anymore they can keep my extra payment for the next month. read more

Got a membership here a while back. I was suffering from anorexia after trauma. I went from 150 lb lean to 99 lb anorexic. At the time, I ate what I could due to my food aversion. Anything was better than nothing. I was dealt an instructor that negated my progress after 8 years of heavy lifting including insanity and p90x completed entirely. I paid $600 for a full month of training regularly, but my 'trainer' knew less than me and constantly acted like I knew nothing bc I was skinny. I was only paying him so I could be accountable through body doubling (having someone with you.) I didn't make a gym appointment and he canceled me and kept all my unspent gym money. I am now back to 150 thru my own training and knowledge bc it's better than how he treated me. He even opened my fitness pal app and judged my intake when I was so anorexic that I was getting down what I could. I just wanted someone there to walk with me and help me stay on schedule with my busy schedule, so that I wasn't alone. It's insane how I got judged for trying to stay alive with trauma-induced anorexia when eating what I could was better than nothing. Proud to be a 150 lean again. I earned it, but I'll never forget how I got robbed and never got a refund or credits after paying thousands here looking for help when I was so vulnerable. Also getting penciled in for hours I couldn't show up for after working 10 hrs as an electrician. I never leave reviews, but this one is deserved. It makes me sad. I had high hopes. I wanted to update my review. They hired a new manager who told me they would be replacing the missing equipment and would be installed in a few weeks. That was 2 and half months ago and still nothing. If I could give them a negative star I would. On top of that they are raising the dues. Beware their personal training contracts. I signed up for what I thought was a package of a total of 4 weekly visits. In the details the contract allows them to continue billing you each month for the same number of visits. I expected a one time charge of $140. Just stopped in for a search and rescue fitness test. Had to sign a waiver and the guy that helped me was pretty cool. Didn't get to explore the entire facility but the pool was solid. Bathrooms were easy to get dressed and head to the pool. Pool is 25 yards and has 3 lanes, not the largest pool but a solid gym pool. It's 6ft in the deep end and 3ft on the shallow end. Hot tub was hot and the sauna was hopping. Cool spot, check it out if you live in the area. read more

Been a member here since it opened up as a Golds Gym. Over they years I have also seen a number of renovations and redesigns. Some I agreed with and others I absolutely didn't. Regardless, I remained loyal and that had a lot to do with the employees and management, specifically, their honesty and understanding. Over the past year that's changed. I have seen men record females working out, get caught, and informed to management but still face no consequences. One time in particular, me and a buddy complained and management said, "we have been informed about him before and will address it" like wtf! What do you mean been informed before? Is the $9 a month worth that much that you won't remove a member for recording other without their permission? Unbelievable. Caution: Creep is still a member today. The second thing that really went from annoying to unbearable was their response to COVID-19. Now I understand this is a serious topic and I am a fan of masks. BUT!!! you can not be expected to have a mask on while you are training! Especially when you are performing heavy and/or high intensity workouts. I had one trainer (using "trainer" very lightly) stop me in the middle of my set and tell me to put my mask over my nose and not just over my mouth. Seriously? He couldn't wait for me to finish? The gym has also tapped/closed off every other piece of equipment. This is tough to understand especially when you have everyone wearing masks. A bit over the top and foolish since you have limited equipment to begin with. They have also shut closed their yoga room, cycle room, basketball court, pool, and sauna. Once again seems a bit much. Lastly, I go back to management/leadership. I understand the rules and how they should be followed but both sides have to understand the circumstances and be understanding. Masks are not perfect and slide down. Masks are also dangerous to wear when performing certain lifts or high intensity training. Also, there is a polite and not so polite way of informing your members to put their masks on. They unfortunately practice the not so polite style which is unacceptable. I also had a conversation with management about other gyms not requiring masks during training and he said they do. Which is a lie. They literally are the only one lmao! Full disclosure I ended my membership with them recently to move over to Crunch Fitness. Since then I have come to learn my decision to terminate was actually changed to their decision to terminate me because I didn't follow the "Covid-19 Policy". Haha desperate times I guess. read more

I have been a member here for several years. Due to autoimmune illnesses, I had to take a hiatus. About a month ago my bestie got a membership and started taking the pool classes. Short story is I am back at the gym and doing water classes. I take the morning pool classes and believe me you get a workout. I love all the instructors as they have wonderful and upbeat personalities. I can't remember everyone's name. I know there is Mickey, Jenn, Holly, and Marie. These classes are always crowded and packed. I also have a PT Personal Trainer Amanda and she is the bomb! She knows what you need and is so encouraging and friendly. I can't RAVE enough about Amanda. Believe me, she will make you workout and be glad you did. I want to take a moment to brag about her because she took the time to do some research on my autoimmune illnesses to make sure she was able to help me to the fullest. She is wonderful and I love it when I get to workout with her. Hoping to work back up to being at the gym longer and more days. read more

Some equipment in poor repair. Needs more attention. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Members are very nice too. Every age is well represented at this gym. My only complaint is they turn off ALL the lights 15 to 20 minutes before closing, forcing those upstairs to walk down the dark-colored stairs in almost complete darkness. Very dangerous and just asking for a FALL LAWSUIT. I'm a personal injury attorney and I'd lay strong odds their lawsuit will be coming due to this negligent practice. I'd suggest just flipping the lights off and on 15 minutes before closing and again at 5 minutes and/or making an announcement. Those of us who work out late well know gym closing time, so this is an unnecessary and juvenile practice. Otherwise the gym is terrific. read more

I always enjoy my workout in the gym but the jacuzzi is always out of commission by the jets not working or the temperature is as cold as the swimming pool! The sauna is rarely steamy anymore. The jacuzzi has been broken for almost 5 months the management keeps promising to do something and they don't. They also don't properly restrict the executive locker room for which I pay an extra fee and it's full of punk kids all the time who know the access code. Again they refuse to do anything about it. You get a lot of value for your money at this facility. The proportion of cardio equipment on the second floor provides good variety of elliptical, treadmill, rowing, stair steppers, cycling equipment as a benefit, because there is almost always, no wait time to use the machines. You have 2 large studios for stretching, quiet individual exercise space & substantial calisthenics & aerobic training equipment. The aquatics, shower facilities and locker rooms are great for convenience and gear storage. Group aerobic class instructors are way motivating and talented at keeping the classes interesting and engaging. To get a solid routine going and to improve nutrition and reach fitness goals, the personal trainers are another great resource by appointment. The gym and the managers are amazing but there's some swim snobs especially the 5am -8 am crew that swims in the morning. I can speak on this because I was swimming there 8-10 hours a week. Theres a hidden underlying weirdness thats going on and if you aren't a part of the click you can definitely feel it. I am a long distance swimmer so I never needed to be part of the click. This is such a beautiful pool and location but most of the people who swim it have very ugly attitudes. i Hope management keeps an eye on that morning click and how they try to make people feel unwelcome when they are Fitness Connection members like everyone else. They hold lanes for each other and there's a couple ladies in the morning who think they can control the swimming pool. There's also a man there at 5 am who will do anything just to belong. He'd be willing to keep you out of the lane so he can hold it until his friends show up. This was the most strange group that I have swam with so far. There's a few very nice people as well who are great swimmers using this pool, but beware of the mean ones who feel they are privileged. I don't care what you'v seen in the past the fact if the matter is, I swam longer than all of you when I was there So I Can Speak On It. They display this behavior on the down low like any other dysfunctional behavior so they will do anything to keep there click and snobbish behavior under the radar. Obviously they rather hide. The employees are always friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of machines available to utilize, as well as other amenities. The property is well maintained and clean. The instructors think they own the pool, with so much space for me to do a small stretch work out. Someone who has back surgery and knee problems, and they have this big ego problem that it's their pool an now one can get in it.
