My goal is to visit all the Planet Fitness locations here before signing up. We will also visit a few in CA. Quality/Quantity - Need to get back in shape... As skiing a few times a week is just not enough, LOL. This location was not as good as the first Planet Fitness we visited on Virginia St. Atmosphere - Was told this is one of the busier facilities out of the 4 PF here in Reno/Sparks. Another one is coming soon. Service - A new employee to the company welcomed us and gave us a tour. At the end of the tour, he let us try out both the massage chairs for 2 minutes each. Then he tried to answer all our questions as we were leaving. But we gave him a pass as we knew and he mentioned that he was brand new. Price - $24.99 a month + sign up fee and annual fee. Current promotion, see picture or website. They have a less expensive plan, $10 a month, but it is not a good fit for us. WOW!! Just WOW!! I walked in on a Saturday. I wanted to join and get the "Black Card". I walk in and smile and the guy behind the counter just stares at me. Ok. First impression: RUDE AND UNFRIENDLY. I have been going to this gym for almost two years and I always have a pleasant interaction with the front desk and staff. Always so helpful even though it's a freakishly early morning interaction. They are wonderful... when I walked in today I was FLABBERGASTED!!! They upgraded the machines overnight and my goodness was I surprised! It's such a nice set up. The flow of machines and new weight machines are awesome! The new treadmills are so boogie! Coming from a workout/gum background I think they did a wonderful job! I am so impressed! Definitely a typical planet fitness, all the same machines and amenities as all the other locations in Reno. My only complaint is the smell, and the machines are always dusty and dirty which is pretty off putting. I go to this location very rarely because of the location but it normally isn't as busy as the other locations so I choose to go here when I know I need to get to the gym, and not be overwhelmed with people. The smell though is as soon as you enter the building in the first doorway. And I thought it was me. But it smelt so bad, and I know it's a gym, the place has bodies going in and out all day 24hrs a day, sweaty bodies as well. I don't know if it's a ventilation issue? Or a lack of the staff cleaning, but the other locations around town don't have this issue. Maybe because it's on the smaller side? I'm not sure. Otherwise I would've given a 5star. read more

Very disturbing so wanted to pass it along. While I was in a bathroom stall I saw a guy filming me under the door. I yelled and he ran so I didn't see his face. Talked to the front desk and they saw him exit the front door quickly, but said they really don't have cameras to capture him exiting the locker room. HORRIBLE! This gym will rip you off when you cancel and continue to charge you. Jake, the "manager" is condescending and rude. I went in on March 16th as shown in my text. The girl at the counter said that I had already been charged for March, but assured me that membership was canceled. I look at the bank account this morning and see a charge. My husband spoke to Jake, and he was no help, I then called and spoke to Jake too. I can understand my husband's anger. He tried to insinuate that I didn't "actually" come in and cancel. Mind you, because of Covid we didn't go to the gym, and yet they still charged us. That was on us not to cancel, so they essentially made $50 a month from us for almost a YEAR. I'm not disputing that. I'm disputing THIS month after we cancelled. This place is trash. Avoid. Go to a different gym. read more

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for two years after moving to Sparks NV. The gym is clean and in a central location. The price is reasonable. They lack equipment that most other gyms have theses days like spin bikes, benches and Olympic bars and several other pieces of equipment you should expect. On the plus side there is massage chairs, tanning beds, and vibrating massage beds. One employee who goes above and beyond is Shawna. She is always cheerful and professional. Now a days that is rare and noticeable. So I would recommend Planet Fitness for the reasons I have mentioned. read more

I went to this Planet Fitness on the way home from work. It doesn't feel like a safe location to park my car for too long. Being used to the south Reno location, this one is a bit of a letdown. The machines are too close together and bathrooms undergoing renovations. They have even the water fountain blocked off. I'm sure it's still a decent place to get a workout in, but questionable area. read more

I had adjusted my expectations joining a gym in the middle of a pandemic, but after looking at several different places for location, cleanliness, cost (and those sneaky extras!) and amenities, I have found a lot of value at my new Planet Fitness! I've belonged to a few gyms over the last decade, and I've seen a few come and go. I've bwlonged to a few basic big box gyms and a couple that catered to the big spender jocko elites, if you know what I mean. For me, the main croteria was always availabilty of equipment and/or classes and a general non-douchey vibe. Well, again, adjusted expectations...group classes and child care/kids clubs, lockers & showers are all indefinitely on hiatus, so what's left is equipment & cleanliness. In my opinion, this location is doing an AMAZING job at keeping the gym spotless & spacing equipment and not packing them in for extra $$. Plus, the staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Getting greeted & acknowledged each time is a cool way to start/end a workout! Until things return to "normal", I'm happy to get a quality workout in a respectful, impeccably clean environment without breaking the bank. Planet Fitness is absolutely pathetic. I've been a member for 6 years on and off. I've even worked at one back in 2014. I've been a black card member as well as a $10 member. Never have I ever heard of a contract attached to the $10 membership. Today, I went in to cancel my $10 membership and they charged me a $58.00 fee for canceling within the 12 months. The reason a lot of people find the $10 membership so appealing is because it's affordable and "was" a no contract membership. Now they have a $15.00 membership that in no commitment, but I was not informed of such membership when I recently downgraded my black card membership. Their employees don't inform you of such fees. It's all a trap and I definitely would not recommend PF to anyone. read more

Hottest gym I've ever worked out in with no ceiling fans. No air movement. Allegedly the air conditioning is sent to a corporate mandated 74° and 100° outside. No shades on windows to block the sun in the evening 3/4 of the people working out here are drenched in their own sweat and a little bit of everybody else's. I enjoy going to this gym. I have been early in the morning (5am) and later at night (10pm) and appreciate the 24 hour convenience. The good stuff - moderately crowded at high times - but can still get to the machines I need. The tanning, hydromassage, and massage chairs are cool. I try to partake when done with my workout - at least a massage (reg/hydro). The not so good stuff - WTF is wrong with people? Leaving dirty paper towels, gum wrappers, used plastic bottles, etc. everywhere!? How about the NO CELLPHONES outside of the lobby RULE? Is it a RULE or a suggestion? Because I have seen so many people YELLING on their cellphones while I'm a few machines away trying to mind my own business. If there are rules - let's actually obey the rules. Seriously! Another one -- people sleeping in the black club chairs or even on the mats in the back. WTF? And how about the guys who sit on a machine and watch a movie. YES, A MOVIE while sitting cross legged on a leg curl machine. I have pictures. And the guy who hides on the HydroMassage (#8) to watch his movie. People - GO HOME. If you are done - JUST go home. You are actually harming the reputation of the club, and of the franchise. And why isn't the staff being more proactive about it? Why don't they roam around and say .. "how about you hang up on your buddy and finish your workout?" or "how about we go nap elsewhere?" Who is responsible for cleaning up after the losers who don't clean up after themselves? I guess when you go low cost gym - you get low cost gym participants. The place is great - but the insensitivity of the others makes for less fun workouts. read more

Twenty four hours ago, I started a 5 star review for the place that I thought was just too good to be true. Five days ago, we saw a Facebook ad for Planet Fitness around the corner from us. We checked out their website/FAQ and they offered the perfect Black Card program for my teenage athlete, offering guest privileges and hydromassage. We signed up online, providing the member's DOB at the time of sign-up. The sign-up message advises that due to her being a minor, I just needed to sign a waiver the first time she visited. We signed up online, finalized the payment (they require a debit card for initial payment, and then a checking acct for your monthly fees), and headed down to get her keycard. Our initial impression upon entering the gym, it's beyond clean. There is lots of positive motivational judgement-free signage throughout the facility. There were 2 people working behind the counter that clearly had no guidance on how to handle new memberships. They had me sign the minor waiver and gave her the Black Card keycard. Then didn't really offer much in the way of welcoming words or a tour of the facility, so I asked if we could go check things out. They just nodded and went back to staring off into space. The employee morale and energy is not at all consistent with their bright colorful welcoming environment. After our first visit, we returned to workout 3 times in the next 3 days. We experienced a total of 4 workouts, where it was super easy for my daughter to scan her keycard & then my guest pass. The machines are blocked off appropriately for social distancing, plenty of cleaning supplies available throughout the facility, and encouragement of masks and social distancing practices. Every visit, we were both allowed to use the hydromassage - which we later learned is only a benefit for the Black Card member, not the guest. During our last visit yesterday, we entered the facility just as each time before. We worked out for about an hour, and then we asked to do the hydromassage before we left. Jake, the general manager, was the person at the counter... when my daughter said "Can we each do the hydromassage?" (just as she'd done the previous times before), Jake responded in a weird aggressive manner with "Uhhh yeah ummmm you're the one that's under 18 right?!" (Yeah?) He continued to lecture her about how she should NEVER have been allowed to have a Black Card membership. When i clarified that the membership was sold through the corporate website, which obtains the patient date of birth, and they issued the Black Card knowing she was a minor and have allowed her to use it multiple times, Jake told me that I must have manipulated the system because it shouldn't have sold us the Black Card for a minor. He told me that he can get fined thousands of dollars for this illegal membership, and was basically placing the blame on us for using the membership that was not supposed to have been issued to begin with. The purpose of the membership was for my daughter to be able to workout with a guest, along with the hydromassage benefit. Jake told me that the only way that a minor could have that benefit would be for me to buy my own Black Card membership, and then she could use the hydromassage under my membership. I later learned that this is incorrect - as the guest is not supposed to be able to use those Black Card benefits. Jake told me that my contract was never finalized due to it being a minor account and I would never be charged. When I got home, I learned that's incorrect. They have charged me. I've spent hours on hold for their customer service, which ultimately hangs up after about an hour with no answer. They encourage you to email them on their website, but it's limited to 500 characters... the response was a canned "here is how YOU can join!" email. Through internet research, they seem to be notorious for billing people that have been denied memberships. The corporate office social media has "escalated this with the local franchise team", who is not answering the phone and their voicemail box is full. I am completely broken hearted because the 4 days we worked out here were amazing. Functional machines, clean & safe environment, no-judgement zone. The employees clear lack of support & knowledge regarding procedures, management accusing the customer of defrauding their policies, franchise team & corporate office. Clarissa, the assistant manager, gave me the phone # for the franchise leadership team, which turned out just being a full voicemail that was never answered. I was even considering keeping the Black Card membership to use at other locations, but after the blatent refusal to allow me to cancel a membership that they accused me of fraudulently opening, I'm stumped on where to go from here. I have to agree on the poor management at this gym! The facilities are great but the management specifically with Jacob as well is appalling! What a disgrace to the company! They definitely do not treat their customers with any respect. Cancellation is a joke and they just want your money! Even cancelling in person, they will continue to charge your account!! I would never recommend anyone signing up with them until they change the way it is run by current management! Guess they don't mind court! read more

This planet fitness is nice. It has a big area and has big bathrooms. It is pretty clean for the most part. If you have the black membership you can go tanning and they have lay down tanning and they let you tan up to 15mins. They are generally open 24hrs, however a few days a week they are not open 24hrs which I wish they would always be a 24hr gym. read more

I've been going here for 5 years now and they're just great! I don't understand those reviews who don't understand what the lunk system's for. We don't call them "lunks" because they're buff. We call lunks to those who slam weights down, don't wipe their equipment, make sound, etc. I think it's a great idea and it's apparently working because I've never seen one in a long time. True, they have old equipment but it's not like you're going there to play with the equipment. You're there to work out and it works perfectly fine. Sadly, I'm looking to go to the Northtowne one because they're closer to my house. Hopefully they have great customer service there. If not, I'd be happy to come back here. read more

This is a really nice, very clean gym. It is open 24 hours between Monday and Friday (which is nice because I work swings/graveyards) and standard hours on the weekend. The basic membership is $10 a month which is SUPER CHEAP. I split the black card membership with my boyfriend (so technically he is the sole member) which is $20 a month. With the black membership, you get to use the tanning beds, massage chairs, and get half price off drinks. You also can bring a guest for free. All your guest needs to do is sign in at the front desk, then they can go off and work out. The black membership requires you to sign a 1-year contract, whereas the basic membership you can drop whenever if you want to. They have rows and rows of treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and machines that are all really new looking and in great shape. They have a bunch of TVs set up so everyone on the bikes/treadmills/ellipticals/stairmasters/whatever has a variety of things to watch. They also have a small free weight section with Smith machines. They do not have a pool or courts or anything like that, they just have a basic gym, locker rooms, and the aforementioned tanning beds/massage chairs. The locker rooms are VERY clean and very nice. They probably have the cleanest locker rooms I've seen anywhere ever. They have a trainer who offers classes weekly and will customize some classes to your needs, but we haven't really looked into that. There's pizza on the 1st monday of the month too! My only complaint about PF (and I think this goes for most PF locations in general, so not specific to the Sparks PF) is that since it prides itself on being non-judgmental (ie. not for "'roided-out, grunty powerlifters"), PF lays down specific ground rules in the free weights section. Like: no barbell deadlifts. They have the infamous "lunk alarm" that goes off when you make a lot of noise and drop your weights and are generally being obnoxious in the free weights section so everyone will stare and silently make fun of you in their heads. Which is not very judgment-free. I personally don't think deadlifts are specific to powerlifters - I am a tiny girl who (wants to) deadlift and squat and bench just to work out and get in shape, not to get beefy. They also don't have a proper squat rack, just Smith machines. I'm fine with using Smith machines to squat and bench but free weights are recommended over machines for compound exercises like these. I have heard of some other PF locations having squat racks, I wish this one had one too! However this gym is relatively close to my apartment, way affordable for my college student budget, and meets my cleanliness standards, so I am not going to leave just yet. I can work around my minor free weight dilemma and I really really like this gym. There's also a lot of parking, so I'll stick with PF for now! read more

Really like this gym a lot. Clean, smells clean. Gets busy weeknights around 6PM ish. Pizza on first mondays of the month. I am a blackcard member and I pay $20 and I bring my husband with me, I love that we get unlimited use of the massage chairs, I can tan (which I dont) and 50% off beverages. Anyway, it supplies me with what i need, treadmills, cardio machines, weights, 30 minute workout machine area, ab area. You clean your station after you use it, some people haven't but I think a lot of the members that come often do. Women's locker room is clean and bright. No pool. No child care. No courts. Just a basic gym. Friendly staff. Clean. Good price. A good gym for anyone who just needs the basics to stay fit. read more

Oh, Planet Fitness. You're a good gym and a frustrating gym all at once. My fiancé has the membership plan where he can always bring a guest, so I often tag along to work out with him. The good things include affordability ($10-$20/month), well-maintained equipment, pretty nice locker rooms, and lots of cardio machines. They also have a 30-minute circuit and a 12-minute ab circuit, which are solid options for quick, no-thinking workouts. During slow times, there's a fair amount of space to do your own thing, too. The bad things include the lunk alarm (which I've only heard go off once and nobody did anything to remedy said lunkness?) and the lack of a full range of gym equipment. I guess using squat racks and free barbells makes you a lunk, so I sometimes have to find new ways to do the exercises I like. If these things are important to you, Planet Fitness probably isn't the gym for you. Also, like most gyms, they get pretty busy during weekday after work hours (5pm-8pm). I can't tell you if you'll love or hate Planet Fitness. I'd say tour one and give a trial pass a whirl, then form your opinion. PRO TIP: If you're a guest of a PF member, they don't pay attention to what name you sign in with on the guest sheet. I like to mix it up every time I go, so sometimes I'm Magic Johnson, Bruce Wayne, or Anastasia Beaverhausen. read more
