It is a BINGO hall, but is not up to the par or size of SPSJT #88. The BINGO that is played here is La Loteria and to this gringa is muey confuso. The ladies sometimes play in the park in utter silence and frankly don't look like they are having much fun, but perhaps that is just intensity for the game. So the space is large enough to have a decent size gathering of several hundred people. It is light and bright with painted white walls and the bathrooms are clean enough. We were able to bring in a DJ, caterer, and bar company for the party so that was good. As an event space goes, it is A-Ok and I would wager a pretty good deal for it's size. If you are a true hipster and you are "so over" the popularity of SPSJT come to the other side of the Heights and start playing La Loteria, you might just start a trend. Along with their move, came some much needed upgrades. 6+ volleyball courts, separating nets, gym, turf training area, concessions, restrooms, matted flooring, seating, etc. Everything is just so much nicer than their old location. I'd say the only downside is no AC other than fans for when it's hot. If it's cold, wear a long sleeve and you'll be fine. Open gym is every Tues, Thurs, and Sun I believe. It used to be $5/person, but now it's $10/person. But I honestly don't mind the small price increase if it means this place stays in business for years to come. Covid has affected many small businesses so please to everyone in the Houston volleyball community, support Spike Sport. You can also rent a private court depending on availability for $55/hr. I'll definitely be back here soon!

Zero stars if I could…read more We had a very disappointing experience here, almost entirely because of how one staff member--the assistant manager, as it turned out--spoke to and treated our kids. From the moment we entered and completed the waiver, he spoke to me in a very condescending manner while going over rules such as no running. Once the kids started climbing, he repeatedly yelled at them for various things, always citing "safety reasons"--walking on the mats, climbing too close to each other, etc. I completely understand that rock climbing requires strict safety rules, especially with children, and I have no problem with staff correcting them when they are doing something unsafe. My issue is how he handled it. There is a big difference between firmly reminding a child of a safety rule and repeatedly screaming at them. He could have simply spoken to them and explained what they needed to do differently. It got to the point where the kids were extremely uncomfortable and almost in tears. I asked to speak to the assistant manager about the situation, only to find out that the person I had an issue with was the assistant manager himself. We discussed it, but ultimately I gave up and we left. By then, the kids were fed up and ready to leave anyway. I understand that kids sometimes do "kid things" and need reminders, especially in an environment where safety matters. But the way this staff member interacted with them made it feel as though he could barely tolerate having children there at all. If the manager is able to review the video footage from our visit, I genuinely hope they do, because I think it would make my frustration much easier to understand. We came here expecting a fun rock-climbing experience for the kids. Instead, we left with children who were upset and felt like they were constantly being yelled at. Safety rules are absolutely appropriate; treating children this way is not.

It's really important to recognize the kindness and professionalism they demonstrate. That said, they absolutely need to be much clearer about what steps are required in different situations instead of giving information bits and pieces. I really believe this is something they could easily improve. The most frustrating part of canceling my membership was how every time I went in, I was told, "Oh, you also need to do this," again and again--completely exhausting. Terry, the general manager, was incredibly kind--even when I was frustrated and impatient--always professional, patient, and consistent. Because of Terry's helpfulness and understanding during this confusing process, I'm increasing my rating from 2 to 4 stars. His genuine assistance has made all the difference in what otherwise felt like an overwhelming experience.

Not realizing how large the city of Houston is, this was quite a drive for me to get to from where…read moreI was staying, and I speak for someone who is not familiar with the city-much less Texas-at all. Since I mapped it out beforehand, I knew where to park and how to get to the gym. This was a fairly large shopping area, but EQX was right there, and the desk is there in front once you enter. There was a really nice girl this day with long braids, and she directed me upstairs to the locker room and informed me that parking validation was not necessary at this time; the gate just went up as you pulled up to it. Perfect! After going upstairs, I did wander around and then a trainer directed me over to the locker room, which was spacious and very clean. The fitness floor is on the second, and as soon as I found the treadmills, I knew where I belonged. Light movement in the stretching area after, and then back to a shower with decent water pressure. What I was fascinated with was how friendly staff was. Trainers actually smiled and said goodbye which you won't normally see in California or New York. I certainly wasn't at home! Compared to other locations, this one was very low-key, although I admit I came during the afternoon where it was probably quieter. I had forgotten this is the location that I was in contact with back in 2020 when I had ordered some masks from their shop since they were actually open. I had such a good experience that the trip here to see them in person was worth it!

My husband told me about this place because I was just getting stuck in the same old routine and he said these guys would work with my physical issues. I tried a few classes and have never felt like I have worked out so hard in my life and it felt so good!! They plan these amazing work outs for the entire body and change it up regularly. I am hooked Have been going 3-5 days a week for 2.5 years and at 42 I have never felt so strong and fit. I can lift things, move things, sprint after kids at work, Open things, hike for hours on any terrain, etc it's literally changed my life!! I love the staff and all of the trainers, they're amazing motivators, so kind and so good at what they do. Its like a family!! Thank you ATH!!
