If I were you, I would not bring my child here. This karate school made a good first impression,…read morehowever, after signing up, which is for a year contract.. so if you decide you don't want to go there anymore, you will still be charged the monthly tuition.. also the same is the case if you are kicked out for some reason. Things just seemed to change over time, the longer we had been there.. the worse it got. Rather than feeling like a supportive, encouraging environment, it felt more like a sterile institution. Favoritism, lack of support and guidance were all apparent here at this school. Always seemed to be looking for way to get more money out of you..I did not feel like what was portrayed in the beginning stayed consistent throughout our 8-9 month time there. In the end, I was disrespected by the owner, known by Sensae. He was very rude and unprofessional in dealing with a situation that arose during our last class there. I was not having very good day to be honest, and I tried to talk to my daughter out of the dojo, which is apparently not allowed. However, I disagreed with that, and stuck up for myself, not in the best way, but I again was having a bad day. So rather than talk to me, or ask if I'd like to come talk to him in his office or wherever, he just basically said they can't leave the floor during class. I in turn said that well I'm her mother and I needed to talk to my child. It was important and I wanted to simply check in with her... nothing was going on at that moment that I was taking her away from.. so basically he said that I disrespected him, and he won't be disrespected like that or whatever and kicked me and my daughter out. He told my daughter to go get her things, we needed to leave. So, I said I just wanted to check in with her and make sure she was okay... she looked upset.. or miserable and I just wanted to ask her what was wrong.. his response, as he gestured his hand towards me, said well look who she has to go home with. This was when I said to him wow, that's really professional sensae. Thank you! I really appreciate that! Mind you, I am a hard working single mom, doing my best for my kids whom mean the world to me and I love very much. He had no right to say that to me.. no matter what I had done. It was very inappropriate and hurtful and uncalled for. He seems very judgemental and in my opinion, over steps his place of being the students karate teacher. He's disrespectful to the parents, who work hard to put their kids in karate.. just to berate them in turn. This was my unfortunate experience here at black dragon academy...I hope this review helps to keep you from this being your story... make sure to thoroughly research these karate schools before committing to there terms and conditions.
