I had my propane tank filled last July 2025, it took only 26 gallons. Normally I would get 50 or…read moremore gallons. Something was wrong with my tank. I asked the guy delivering the propane to pass this on to whoever repairs tanks. So far I have heard nothing. Today, in September, I called the 800 number (when I signed up with Amerigas they had a local office in Roseburg, but then they moved it to Grants Pass, but now if you call the local number listed for Amerigas, it sends you to, I believe, Cincinnati, Ohio, Their is no local person you can talk to). I finally got a real person to talk with, but I could not understand her, I believe she might have been from Pakistan or a similar country. She was helpful, but as I said hard to understand. She said something about scheduling someone to come out to look at my tank (I think), but then she started on about what it was going to cost me! I stopped her right there and told her I rented the tank from them so why should I have to pay Amerigas to have to come to my place to fix or replace their broken propane tank? She really had no answer for this and continued on with what it was going to cost me. As I mentioned previously, I was still having trouble understanding what she was saying, but when she said the cost was going to around $300, I told her to forget it, I'll just call for a delivery when the tank runs out! I had complained several times previously about their being no local control, but to no avail. On a positive note, all of the guys delivering the propane were great! Looking for a different propane provider.

Equals 2 Star Rating... The communication outweighed the other Stars. I really couldn't get extra propane as the young lady in the office said. So said the propane deliverer. Oh, wait, I could. But it would be a real hassle for him. He was friendly and professional. This was on someone else's account, as they knew. And I told them to send the bill to that person. They didn't. I called three times, never answered. Called again today, no answer, wait time was 50 minutes. I didn't wait. So, 2 Stars for all the hassles. The company should hire more people like the office person. Thank you for your time.

This is an odd review to leave because I am not a customer of Suburban Propane. Nor will ever…read morelikely become one, as it turns out. Nor should you - ANY of you, ever. But I can attest that this is a terrible company - their pricing is more than double the cost of the competition and they are not honest or responsive - their phone has gone unanswered for two days now. I bought a home in Dunsmuir in 2022. There was a propane tank the sellers told me, that was theirs privately. There was about 50 gallons of propane in the tank for which I paid $200 through the escrow of the home purchase. There is no sign or stamp or other marking I could find on the tank - it is just a white propane tank and has been sitting there for 6 years that I know of - I own the property next door as well. I went to work remodeling the home and forgot about the propane tank. I had Blue Start Gas (an EXCELLENT company BTW) start service and they have kept the tank full over the three years. Roll forward to yesterday, 9/23/2025 - MORE THAN THREE YEARS after I purchased this home. I rent the home part-time as an AirBNB and was visiting the property yesterday to do a condition check, and found a note from Suburban on my front door, notifying me they had "Terminated Propane Service." As I looked at my propane tank, that note meant they had let themselves onto my property, disconnected the service line to my house and put a lock on the tank so I could not reconnect it! This began a (so far) 30-hour effort to reach them. Phone calls to their office go to a national "Customer Contact Center" number, with operators in New York, Virginia, and Sacramento answering the calls so far - all unable to transfer me to anybody in Yreka, or who could help at all. Thankfully, I figured out how to remove the lock and have reconnected the service to my home. But they nearly cost me more than $1,000 in rental income I might have had to refund if I had not accidentally discovered the disconnect, which had happened 6 days earlier. The technician who disconnected my tank is lucky I was not onsite when he arrived. He trespassed, put my property and my business income at risk, and now is not available to talk about it. To say it would have gone differently for him if I had been there is an understatement. You decide - is this who you want to trust to keep your family's propane connected and full through the cold winter? That is not their tank, and not their propane, but they basically tried to take possession of it without any process or notification. Do yourself a favor - go to Blue Star Gas in Mt. Shasta -they have been providing great service for me for 7 years, at other properties I own. They not only sell propane, but they have installed propane furnaces, tankless hot water heaters and other services - all with 100% satisfaction from me! Suburban, you will have to answer your phone eventually - can't wait for that conversation.

(My car was having electrical issues and needed to go in to the mechanic ASAP and I didn't want to miss Suburban's arrival. )Sara said she couldn't say but it would be after 12 and the driver would call 30 before. No call. No show. Wasted all day waiting. No call the next day even after leaving a message with the after hours answering service. Apparently a driver called in sick so they had to double up on what the other driver needed to do. That's understandable. But the total lack of consideration for not calling and rescheduling or at least letting me know they wouldn't be out to me is inexcusable. Now why would I want to do business with a company who does this?

When they finally picked up the tank they charged $100 for a close out fee and .75 per gallon restock fee. None of these fees show a dollar amount on their web page www.suburbanpropne.com/fees. So they can charge what they want. They subtracted .75 per gallon on what was left in the tank. They also subtracted another .75 off the price per gallon on what you paid for it. Doubling the restock fee. When confronted with this, they corrected it very quickly. The only way we new they reduced the price on the refund by exactly .75 is because I kept the original receipt from the deliveries. Won't tell you the price per gallon and double dripping on fees.
