I was shopping for my Mom's Mother's Day gift and needed to have lunch because I left the house on an empty stomach busy running errands. So, at the Fashion Valley Mall I saw a place that looked interesting, different, and unique. It is called "Five O3 Pupusas!" It is Central American food offering a dish native to their region called a "Pupusa." They fill them with chicken, pork, beans, and cheese. I order a chicken one to see what it would taste like. I just needed something good and different so this place looked like the place to try. The girl behind the counter really was not much help in giving me any information about what to try as I told her I never tried this kind of food before. So, I decided on a chicken and cheese single pupusa. My order arrived in about five minutes. They had a bar of coleslaw and a regular hot sauce and also Hanover sauce. The pupusa was decent but not amazing. I really feel like Mexican food tastes much better, but I needed to try it. The pupusa by itself with no hot sauce was not loaded with much flavor. The hot sauces is definitely needed to help with the flavor. Also, the side of cole-slaw I did not like. The seasoning on it I just did not like. They also offer fried plantains, nuegados, and empanadas. Maybe if the counter girl could have been more helpful, I could have had empanadas which I may have liked. The food was fresh, but not flavorful. And for the small size, I paid too much. I am still hungry and will need to go home and have a salad. I must say, glad I tried it, but this place was just not for me.

Pupusa mixta and bean and cheese

I was excited to try this place and I ordered a mixta pupusa and a bean and cheese, both tasted pretty much the same, the mixta pupusa had a slightly different taste. They were very good in flavor but not all the way cooked, the inside was a bit doughy. I was very bummed out that they had ran out of the curtido as this is what I look forward to when I eat pupusas. The pitaya agua fresca was so delicious. I will definitely comeback to try all the aguas frescas.

I was so thrilled to see they had introduced this restaurant at the Fashion Valley mall food court. I was a frequent visitor throughout the low desert of California. They started out as a stand at the town street fair on Thursday nights in Palm Springs, eventually landed a spot at the Coachella Festival each year and have gone from there. They opened their brick and mortar store front in Cathedral City in 2023. Now for the food!! These pupusas are amazingly yummy and consistent in quality. The chicken pupusa is my go-to every time perfectly portioned between flavorful chicken and melted cheese. You have to eat with their traditional toppings: Curtido (a lightly fermented cabbage slaw made with shredded cabbage, carrots, onions; seasoned with vinegar and dried oregano) and Salsa Roja (a mild, cooked tomato, typically made with blended tomatoes, garlic, onion, and a hint of chile). This is Salvadoran comfort food to the max. Makes a perfect light breakfast or afternoon snack. Be sure to give them some love when you're at Fashion Valley Mall!

Well, 503 is exactly what you expect from pupusa's in mall prompt service nowhere to sit except for the food court city seating service was prompt and friendly however it's a fast space blaze so you don't really get to talk to them too much. The ambience is OK. It's fashion Valley Mall so obviously it's a beautiful mall but the local is small small the food is fantastic. It's one of the best pupusa they take a while to prepare them.

Wow! I was so curious about this place and then I finally tried it and it was amazing. It taste so good and just one bite the savory flavor, the cheese, the meat, and the fixings on the side with the tomato salsa. It was so delicious after one bite I didn't wanna stop, but unfortunately, I was merely just trying to taste it. Service was top notch. They took my whole order and had it ready in a timely fashion. Made sure to call me by my name when the food was done then they offered me to try all of their sides and fixings and I did so they gave me a really nice warm welcome and a warm exit. As far as ambience it's a very small space but they make it as nice as they possibly can. It has the makings of any good restaurant unfortunately it's just a kiosk, but still you feel the vibe soon as you walk in. It's well lit, nice comfy chairs with nice pillows and really cool modern design! I'm for sure coming back!!

Ordered three pupusas; one with cheese and peppers, the other two with chicken.

Decided to try out this place at the Fashion Valley Mall; the wait was about 10 minutes from ordering the food to service. They have a lot of choices for what ingredients you want inside your pupusa and how many you want to order. It can get pricey if you order more than two. The tortilla itself tastes a little bland but the ingredients inside make it more flavorful. Drinks on offer include soda and mexican horchata.

$7 for a coke bottle, might as well go to el salvadoreño for cheaper & tastier pupusas and drinks are half the price.

Being nearly eight months pregnant, my expectations were especially high, and it is rare to find a place that meets them so well. From the seasoning of the food to the warm and attentive service, everything about this restaurant stands out. Although I don't recall my server's name, he was incredibly kind and provided excellent service throughout. The ambiance is also worth noting--the space is large, offers plenty of seating options, and even features a large TV, making it a great spot to relax or watch sports. To start, I ordered a watered mango juice along with a beef empanada. The empanada exceeded my expectations--despite being on the smaller side, it was packed with flavor. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered five more to go, which speaks for itself. They were served with fresh ají, a traditional sauce that complemented them perfectly. For my main course, I had the carne asada plate, which included steak, rice, beans, sweet plantains, avocado, tomato slices, and a small arepa. Every component of the dish was well-executed--the beans were flavorful, the meat was well-seasoned, and the overall plate felt authentic. It is often difficult to find truly authentic Colombian food, especially in San Diego, where options are limited or not genuinely Colombian. This restaurant, however, delivers on authenticity and flavor. The portion size was generous, and I ended up taking leftovers home to enjoy later. In addition to the empanadas (two chicken and three beef), I also ordered a buñuelo and a cheese arepa to go. Unfortunately, these items did not meet the same standard. The arepa lacked flavor and was overly greasy, and the buñuelo was dry and similarly oily, even after absorbing excess grease from the bag. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for Colombian food, especially given how rare it is to find quality options in this area. Friends of mine visited recently as well and thoroughly enjoyed their bandeja paisa, further confirming the consistency of the food. I will definitely be returning--especially for those empanadas.

I'm glad I got to try something so unique. There is cheese is all of these and it is such a comfort food. The empanada was also hefty and delicious. I believe the filling is chicken. They even gave us extra fixings, which consists of a dipping sauce and a coleslaw salad. The dressing in the salad was slightly spicy and quick hit of acid. It was really appetizing. The quesadillas salvadorenas (sweet dessert) were light and fluffy, mildy sweet. It really hit the spot. The owner was so nice, food so good, pick up was very easy and organized, good communication. (Long review up ahead)…read more I tried Lola55 back in 2018 at a UC San Diego URBAN event. The event was awesome and I remember the tacos being a huge highlight of the evening. It took me 8 years to visit the actual Lola55! To be honest I lost my faith in them when they opened at the UTC mall back in February 2025. I don't know what they were thinking then but the quality simply wasn't there. Fast forward to 2026 and I find myself at their OG location. So many friends and colleagues would always ask me "Have you tried Lola55?!". I've now visited twice, once with friends and once with my husband. It helped to go with friends who were regulars as they shared their favorites. The second time around we knew exactly what to order. My favorite are definitely: Carnitas tacos- O.M.G. AMAZING, DELICIOSO. Ceviche - Yum! Cilantro, lime marinate with a habanero kick. Steak taco- yum, with the salsa and toreado chile adding extra special flavor. Their tortillas are fresh Their beans are delicious! The mesquite coals definitely take over the entire establishment. The Camino Margarita made with Mezcal is out of this world. I don't even like mezcal! If Lola55 isn't it, I don't really want to know what is it. It's not about the tacos, or the margaritas, it's not even about the smell of the place. It's more closely to the ingredients you know and grew up with, showing up in ways. In many different and particular ways. In similar dishes but somehow better. This is rare.
