The horses are happy and healthy and look well-cared for. The staff is soooo nice and accommodating and professional. "Z" was our guide, expertly leading my 9 year old and me across beautiful terrain. "Z" is awesome if you can request her. We have gone twice now and the quality has been consistent. Absolutely amazing! We had 5 kids and 5 mostly inexperienced adults on the beach ride. Two 6 year olds, 2, Two 8 year olds and one 9 year old. Chanslor provided 3 guides and one amazing beach ride. We could not have asked for a better day. The weather was beautiful for mid April spring day. I rode Daisy and she was an amazing partner. My 8 year old rode Boomerang. I booked an appointment for my wife to get her out of the house. The result was a very enjoyable outing that allowed us to relax. It was honestly fun. I work for the county as an animal control officer and I can tell you that not only do the staff give the utmost care to their horses, but they've also selected ones with the best temperament for the general public. This allows for a higher degree of safety (you wouldn't want a beginner trying to ride an equine with an attitude). The staff there are also extremely friendly and professional. No the rides are not cheap, but understand that equines require a great deal of care and that's where your money is going. read more

Even my 16yr old had a big smile for ear to ear! We did the one hr ride Eagle View Ride. The view was incredible you can definitely see all of bodega bay. I had the opportunity to ride "Buddy". Gorgeous horse loved to catch up with the horse leading the group, but definitely listened to instructions, extremely smart beauty's ... very friendly owner and fabulous experience!! Cannot say enough good things! My husband and I did the sunset/moonrise ride for our one year wedding anniversary and it was so amazing! Lauryn was our guide and she was so helpful and great, we happened to go on a really windy day so she tweaked the ride to fit the weather conditions and it was absolutely phenomenal. So much beautiful wildlife to see and felt so surreal seeing Bodega from the views they had to offer. The "light fare" they provided was a feast!! We actually skipped dinner altogether because the picnic they packed us had so many goodies. Charlie even gave us a wind proof area to enjoy the food and we are so thankful. We will definitely be recommending this place to all of our friends and family looking for an adventurous outing in bodega! read more

This was the least enthusiastic, hospitable experience I would have ever thought a horse back riding non adventure could be. The pony ride for a child is more exciting at Howarth Park then what this place has to offer. The driveway into the entrance to the ranch is longer than what the children's pony ride was! When I arrived I had reservations and they were completely unprepared, did not acknowledge my reservation nor the cc on file. The staff was far from friendly in assisting to create a memorable experience. The Restrooms for the customers were absolutely horrific. I even personally tried to fix the toilet and it was a lost disgusting cause. I am very disappointed and saddened about this experience. read more

Terrible phone experience when trying to book and join our group - called, and left message as instructed - no call back - no ability to book as a single online. When I did get an answer - the male told me only 2 others were signed up - and asked if I still wanted to go... yea, I was good to go as I was joining others for that time - then he adds there are no horses to accommodate anyone over 6 ft & 200 lbs. if that was an issue - I am just - so I can't go? No. This is disappointing for sure - but I was surprised by the off putting attitude. Maybe he was having a bad day or they are spread thin on horses?? Would have made other group plans had I known. We signed up for the 1 1/2 hours Beach Ride. What an unbelievably, ridiculously gorgeous ride! The pictures I posted with this review do not begin to do it justice. I would call this a must-do. Bright (sp?) was our guide. She had an easy-going confidence and led us on the most perfect ride. She was nicely in tune with what would make this ride the best experience for us. I really appreciated that. Our horses were Duke, Jake, and Grace; mine was Grace and I loved her! They each clearly had a personality, but were responsive to direction and were not willful. They were good, good horses. I was a little worried because the day before our ride was rainy and windy. Chanslor Stables was great about communicating and working with us as far as weather concerns. As it turned out, the weather worked beautifully in our favor. Thank you Chanslor Stables for making our day and giving us an experience to remember! read more

My husband and I stopped into the stable to check on horse back rides for our anniversary. Devon greeted us and was warm friendly and helpful, she even gave me a pair of new socks and boots to wear since I was wearing sandals. Our guide was a delightful woman named "Bright" which fit her personality perfectly. We were guided up the most magnificent Sonoma County Hills on our horses. The view of the ocean, Bodega Bay and Russian River from our vantage point was breathtaking. I can't wait to bring my grandchildren next time. Neither I or my partner had ridden horses in 10+ years so we were grateful that our guide Brett recapped the basics, took it slow, then let us trot a bit closer to the end. I had the opportunity to bring my eight year old daughter Riley with me from Santa Rosa for a birthday beach ride today. We were greeted promptly by 1 million smiling faces and hellos from all around the stables. We were quickly tended to by a young lady named Cheyenne, who my daughter grew fond of quickly. Cheyenne was very patient, knowledgeable, and fun. She answered 1000 questions from my little curious one and took about 1 million pictures of us along the way. We had previously booked with another stable and they would not accommodate our age range so we had to cxl and book with Chanslor at the last minute and it was the best thing that could've happened! The guides spoke with us at length upon arrival & customized our ride to give our family the best experience! THE KIDS LOVED IT! * Our 10yr old had been looking forward to "galloping", though he had no prior horse experience - his dreams came true and his giant smile will never be forgotten. * Our 6yr old started the ride in tears from nerves and Cheyenne walked on-foot by his side giving him confidence for half of the ride and she lead his horse from hers for the remainder of the ride! He was really looking forward to it and could have never accomplished what he did without the entire staff rallying behind him and getting him there. They didn't have to give the time and care that they did, but it was real and natural and came from the heart because they truly cared deeply about our little guy and our family memories created on the trail!
