    265$ for certificate
    Itzik T.

Absolute ripoff stay away from this place!!! I made an appointment to get an international health certificate for my 2 dogs. I inquired about a price and they gave me excuses that they have to research first according to the country I'm moving my dogs with me and only stated it's gonna be expensive because they have to research and because they don't do many certificates (ridiculous!). I asked if it's gonna be over a 1000$ they did not reply even tho they knew arleady what they are gonna quote. All they wanted is me to pay 200$ for a 2 min check of temperature and weight. Less than an hour later (that much research time they needed) they texted me 1,250-1,750 a dog!!! A quick check online showed average prices for certificate is 265$ and the microchip that's also needed 50$! From 300$ a dog what it should cost they tried charging me 3000$+ for 2 dogs!!! Highway robbery is what this place is using a known doctor trick pay high for exam first get a higher price later. After I complained and demanded explanations did not get a reply from them at all! This is not the last they're gonna hear from me I'm gonna take it to the better business bureau. Do yourself a favor stay away from this place I would not trust them one bit with my pets

Our experience with this pet hospital was deeply troubling…read more Our dog Scout was hospitalized for a week following her surgery. We visited every day after work and while visiting we would see our dog respond to us even briefly, lifting her head or trying to move. Despite this, we were repeatedly told that she was not improving, could not walk and was unlikely to survive. We were strongly encouraged to euthanize her and were made to feel that continuing treatment was the wrong decision. What was especially upsetting was the manner in which these conversations were handled. Instead of feeling supported during an incredibly difficult time, we felt pressured and judged for wanting to keep fighting for our dog. I have to say this was not all staff, as this was one vet taking care of Scout and the reports we would get on her shifts daily from her. Ultimately, we made the decision to remove Scout from their care and signed her out against medical advice (AMA). The paperwork stated she was released on Hospice Care at home. She was not discharged because the hospital believed she was improving; we chose to take her home with G-tube and medication and all to take care of her ourselves. What happened next is why we continue to question the care she received. On the day we took Scout home and told Scout were going home Scout, Scout got up and tried walking out on her own and when putting her in the car she jumped in herself! Does this sound like a dog that was not thriving??Once home she continued to improve and began thriving. Six months later, at 13 years old, she is enjoying life, active, going for walks, happy, spending time with our family back to her old self. No one can predict exactly how long a senior dog will live, and we understand that veterinarians must prepare owner for difficult possibilities, however the difference between what we were told and how Scout actually recovered left us with serious concerns. We also question whether enough was being done to encourage her mobility, recovery and over all well-being during the week she was hospitalized because of her age. Given how certain they seemed that she would not survive, we found it surprising and disappointing that there was no follow up call regarding her recovery. At least a phone call would be expected having so much concern they expressed for her. We are sharing our experience because other pet owners deserve clear communication, compassionate treatment, and confidence that every effort is being made to help no matter what age for their pets' recovery. Very grateful to the surgeon who came in to do Scouts surgery and the Veterinarian who discharged Scout who was very helpful.

The vet called me explained everything she was considering and waited for my OK which I promptly gave because it's what I thought would happen to begin with. I did have an option to go over pricing prior to any procedures being done however I said "do what needs to be done" and she ballparked the price for me which actually was very accurate. I can tell you that the price was pretty close to what it would've been at my previous Vet, and probably the same or slightly cheaper than the Vet that I currently have. I feel like the poor reviews this place has gotten is based on people with unrealistic expectations. The emergency services here operate just like they would at a human emergency room. Unstable patients take precedent over stable patients. My cat received excellent care and I would not hesitate to use their services again.

Dental care and exotic knowledge was difficult for me to find when I moved to SoCal, and we felt we found a true gem here at VCA. Dr. Gibbs is a kind, knowledgeable, and understanding veterinarian who truly cares about what she does! I also asked if i could go visit and bring my dog before booking and she said no that i needed to make a reservation first but that yes they accepted pit bulls. I then made plans for a two night stay out of town, booked a room, bought tickets and called to make reservations for him. The lady then said that I couldn't make a reservation because she was old and didn't want to deal with a 90 pound dog- that she has no help and simply couldn't handle it. I asked her if I could go visit and have her try since I know my dog is well behaved and doesn't pull on a leash and she said that she has in the past (I don't know how since my dog has never been there) but that it didn't work. I'm extremely disappointed that I have to scramble to find a new place or cancel my plans and also to read previous reviews of other large dogs staying there.
