So I received a polite on the surface, response but completely sidesteps the facts of our situation and our long relationship with the clinic seeing 7 of my fur babies. I have always understood policy but our experience was dealt with rudeness and no compassion. I would be careful in having this clinic care for fur babies. Especially being in a remote area with an emergency we experienced. This is what I responded back. Dear Dr. Hassan, Thank you for your reply. I understand you were away and I appreciate you taking the time to respond. That said, I do feel deeply let down by how this situation was handled--especially after nearly seven years as a loyal client. To clarify, our last physical exam was only 1 year and 2 days prior to my call. I was not requesting something new or outside the norm. In fact, you have filled metronidazole in the past without a current physical, as a precaution for our travel, based on our established history. This time, I even administered a home giardia test that confirmed the diagnosis, and two veterinarians in Colorado stated that your clinic could have called in the prescription based on the past record and relationship- and they would have gladly filled it. Instead, I was met with cold responses from your front desk, no follow-up from the covering veterinarian despite my request, and ultimately no help during an urgent situation. We are currently transient and the nearest emergency care was over 100 miles away. I did everything I could to act responsibly and quickly, but was completely unsupported. I understand the need for policy, but I also believe compassion, flexibility, and consistency should play a role--especially when dealing with long-time, responsible clients and sick animals. I didn't get to see the real vet. I got to see part-time vet. Which was fine and she seemed knowledgeable, but front desk help I can only explain as total incompetence as they gave me the wrong medication. Or I should say they sold me the wrong medication. Sent me on a wild goose chase to 30 miles to Costco to pick up prescription which was never called in. Front desk told me that the Veterinarian had called me or text me and tried to contact me but I have no call or Text from them. They had my address incorrect, they had my phone number incorrect, and they sold me some medication with someone else's name on it a bit frustrated after wasting my gas and time to drive 30 miles the directions and and pay 70 bucks for medication that isn't mine or for my dog read more

I love this veterinarian, she is so absolutely knowledgeable and answers every single question I have. I've had dogs in the past and I've taken them to different vets and I really want to make sure I get the best care for my dog. Words cannot express how pleased I am with Laguna Veterinary Care! Dr Hassan has gone so far over and above to help with our "stranger danger" dog, I'm just blown away at the difference between our experience here vs our previous vet. She worked with us and our trainer for several "social" visits to work on relationship building. Today we had our first vaccination and it was super easy! This with a dog who even after numerous social visits with our previous vet growled and lunged any time that vet came near her. Dr Hassan has an incredibly calm way about her. She does not rush, and has been SO willing to work with us! She meets us outside, and has even conducted our entire visits outside. She participated in a session with our trainer, and is just super tuned in to what our dog needs. She takes time to explain what handling is needed, and offer suggestions on how we can help both by practicing at home, and things we can do during a visit to help. I had to put my fur baby of 15 years down earlier this week and Dr. Hassan helped make this process as smooth and sensitive as possible. I am a nurse and just by nature like everything described in detail and she was sure to answer any questions I had. They put me in a nice, calming room with my dog and a couch and plenty of tissues. She gave me time to be with my pet and got a paw print done for me. Afterwards she found out that I had children so she also gave me this fantastic book by Fred Rogers, which might have even helped me more than my kids. ;) Dr. Hassan treats her patients with dignity and respect and I am thankful that this is where I got to hold my dog for the last time. Side note- they do offer to take care of your animals remains, but I opted to take them to Oak Hills in Atascadero because it was cheaper and I could get the ashes back in a more timely manner. read more

My Doxie-Pin, Trudy was critically ill in June 2015. I took her to Dr. Hassan and she immediately began treatments. Initially, the doctor and I thought that Trudy had leukemia. The doctor boarded Trudy so that she would be under her constant care. At one point, the doctor consulted other professionals. Trudy's medication was changed and she continued to receive conscientious care from Dr. Hassan. As of June 2017, Trudy is the poster puppy of good health. She has been placed on the proper medications for her disabilities, she walks daily, and has lost weight due to better nutrition. She was comforting as we grappled with the decision to put our dog down the following week. Although putting a dog down is very sad, it could not have gone more smoothly. The Clinic is extremely good at keeping anxiety of pets and owners to an absolute minimum. They work hard to avoid interactions between patients in lobby. I recently had Dr. Molly McElrath at the clinic caring for my pet. She has earned 10 stars rating from me. My Cat absolutely hates Vet visits, but in this Doctor's care she actually purred and chirped several times to the Vet. The Vet explains everything to me in easy to understand terms. She definitely has mastered Pet AND Owner care. Reducing my own anxieties. Outside services (lab work, diagnostic screening) seems pricey but proved to be very helpful tools for the Vet to make accurate diagnosis. read more

The office, exam rooms, and surgical lab are perfectly appointed: all the best equipment, zero nonsense, and all sparkling clean. When Dr Hassan took a skin sample from my dog Lasso, she viewed it in the microscope herself immediately, and we left with the correct treatment for his condition. Urged by a friend to see Dr Hassan when I adopted a dog in need, and my previous vet moved away, I received perfect care for Lili, and instantly knew how careful, care filled, and trustworthy Dr Hassan was. We have 2 French bulldogs and had a 12 year old boxer that we had to put down last week. One of the French bulldogs is epileptic. We had a horrible experience with our previous Vet when she found out we were giving our baby with epilepsy CBD oil. Our friends referred us to Dr. Hassan about 2 years ago. This is a wonderful vet and office. First off, when you enter, you would think you are entering a doctors office rather than a vet. It's pleasant and doesn't smell like a vet. The doctor and staff were considerate and comforting to my cat. I was new in town and I live right across the street so I was hoping this would work out. I called to ask about setting something up as a new client, and was told they are not taking new clients which is absolutely understandable and not the issue. Upon being told that, I mentioned that I wished that had been on the website. I never got a chance to follow-up on any other information or questions (when that might change, if there's a waitlist, or suggestions for other places to call) because I was immediately responded to with, "Well, things are changing every day due to COVID and if that's one of the things that got missed, that's one of the things that got missed. Goodbye." And then the person hung up on me. Being a part of the industry myself and having worked during this very difficult time, I understand the many challenges RVTs, receptionists, and veterinarians are facing and that it can be very frustrating. When I signed up with the Laguna Vet Clinic, I was assured that space was left open each day to accommodate emergencies.  That was one of the main reasons that we joined the clinic. I called when my dog was injured, and I was told that they were too busy to see her. I would have to make an appointment, and they were booked for about a week. They told me that they would call me back after talking with Dr. Hassan. I waited all day with my injured dog, and they never called me back, and would not answer the phone when I called them. They were not there for us when we needed them the most. read more

It's everything the reviews have said. We are new to the area and have had the same Vet for over 20 years. Our English Mastiff has Addison's disease so we are very "obsessed" with her care. It really takes a lot to keep your dog on the correct dosage of several medicines. Not every Vet is familiar with the disease or our specific large breed. To our delight Dr. Hassan had extensive knowledge and really took the time to review our dogs condition. She said she would follow-up to see how Peanut was progressing. Dr. Hassan is one of a kind. And I say this with years of experience under my belt working for other veterinarians in the area. She has been caring for my dog Kizzy for a few years, since back when she was working in Los Osos. We are ecstatic about her new clinic--beautiful, thoughtfully-designed, and most importantly, pet-centered. The fear-free ideology to which she adheres is nothing short of amazing. We are so lucky to live close to and find Laguna Veterinary Care! The staff were extremely helpful, and the Doctor is so thorough and patient with her explanation, has some amazing techniques (cup of peanut butter around the rim to distract from a shot/vaccination) and has some very practical & user friendly policies (check out in room so as to not juggle dog leash, wallet, signing & dog trying to say hi or hide from other patrons). As a military family member, we've moved quite a bit & I've had some wonderful vets, but Dr. Kholood Hassan just might be the best ever!
