When I opened the bag, there were more fires in the bag than in the cup and the cup was full. I ordered a "little" fry because I didn't want very many, but this was like receiving a large s"super sized" fry order. To me, this is a waste of food. I couldn't begin to finish the fries from the bag and never touched the full cup. The fries are not that good. They are limp. I ordered a "little" cheeseburger with just lettuce and tomato. It was good, better than the fries, but still not worth the $16 it cost for a small burger, small fry and a fountain drink. I still think they are overpriced for fast food and you do have to wait longer and that's why they don't have a drive up window, imo. read more

Five guys has been epic for years.....cooking and serving awesome burgers and plentiful helpings of fries. However, they recently transitioned to small paper sacks for their fries and seriously cut back on the serving size of their fries, while increasing pr I ce and decreasing value. We have tried it out 3 times aver tue last 2 months and we have decided it may be time to stop patronizing their restaurant. I hope it is not a business wide move. We stopped at Five Guys in Bloomington and enjoyed a bacon cheeseburger and shared their huge fries with my spouse. This Five Guys is a stand alone restaurant. This is a first time for me with the other Five Guys we visited. I mourn the loss of the missing legumes, also known as peanuts. I guess this is a victim of the pandemic. Hopefully they will return when the pandemic is under control. The bacon cheeseburger was delicious. The French fries were just right. We discovered at this Five Guys they tell you where they bought the potatoes. Who would have thought? This is a great place for your hamburger and fries! read more

November 2021 - It has been awhile since I have eaten at 5 Guys. I forgot just how good it is. I forgot to order the Little Cheeseburger and so I probably gained a couple of pounds on the regular size. If you're going to eat a Mercedes cheeseburger burger then you have to go all out and order it loaded. "All In" so to speak. The veggies are piled high and you will destroy the bun and so use both hands and be prepared for a mess. lol. There were six people in our group and everyone enjoyed the food thoroughly! I love Five Guys. My boyfriend urges me to go here because he loves it so much. He is a fan of the Cajun fries.. I found them to be too hot (spicy) for me. I am a very boring and plain eater. I get the little bacon cheeseburger and it is delicious. I love the milkshake with malt, chocolate, and banana. My boyfriend recommends a caramel and malt milkshake. Never disappoints... tonight while out n about, finishing up Christmas stuff ... I came out of hobby lobby and saw five guys out of the corner of my eye ... We went here a couple weeks ago, and our cashier, Karen, was incredibly pleasant and positive. Along with our burger order, she suggested we get a regular fry between the two of us to share since it would be plenty for two people. Agreed since I know the way their fries work. Upon receiving our order, the fries we got were tightly packed in a small cup with no overflow or extra scoop into the bag like they typically do. I inquired at the counter if this was correct and was told by the line people that it was accurate. I'd never seen it before like that and didn't know why Karen would suggest it if it was a small compact cup of fries. I just walked to our table and decided to adjust my expectations. My boyfriend opened his burger and it wasn't right, didn't match the receipt. He went to the counter and showed them the receipt. They started making a new one, but they made him throw away the wrong one in their presence which was odd. They also did that to another guy right before us. I'm thinking...you're the ones who messed up and it's not us trying to work the system, so what's with the walk of shame to the garbage? Karen came by our table to make sure everything was fine and I decided to mention the fries after all because I was bothered at this point. I showed them to her and she said it wasn't right, that they needed to do an extra scoop into the bag. She brought out another small cup of fries right when my boyfriend's burger was done...it was wrong again. This time we just obtained a side of what was missing because this was an easier mistake to add extras ourselves rather than remove them like the first mess-up. Karen brought us the side and then went above and beyond to try and fix our experience by giving us a free shake. She described the shakes in detail and had genuine concern on her face. I gave this four stars even tho it was a two star experience (it'd have to be brutal to be a one) solely because of Karen. She understands customer service and what it can do for a business. This location is good, Small parking lot, however. They are always busy, but they move fast, so don't worry about that. If you have a peanut allergy, STAY AWAY!! They fry their fries in peanut oil and they have boxes of peanuts inside the restaurant. You are able to scoop them out into small fry trays. I always get the double. I don't like or eat cheese, so that's out. What I do like is the toppings that are free to select. I usually go with lettuce and pickles with the A1 sauce. Pretty good picnic burger for my taste. The fries are amazing. They give you a lot. I mean, A LOT!! The cajun seasoning is good and spicy. They have 2 Coke Freestyle machines as well. read more

I was really psyched to visit 5 Guys for the first time as I had read it as being favorably compared to In-n-Out Burger. The manager was engaging, upbeat and attentive. The place was fairly clean (although a few tables needed wiping down). My first disappointment was that the burgers are only cooked well done. I prefer mine with an internal temp of 125F. The second is that the burgers are mashed down on the grill REPEATEDLY, squeezing out almost all the moisture and melted fat content. This resulted in a grainy burger with poor mouthfeel, and a dramatic attenuation of flavor after the 2nd bit. Moreover, the seasoning was very subpar--no hint of either salt or pepper. The manager also said that the juices would be "sealed in", a claim that has been debunked by Harold McGee in his scientific work. The Maillard reaction, responsible for the crustiness of protein, does NOT seal in the juices. The fries. The first few from the top of the cup were hot and crispy. However, inside the cup the fries are steamed resulting in limp, flaccid and flavorless fries. They were also over salted--and I like salt! Finally, the volume of the music in the dining area was so loud that one could not have a conversation with the person across from you, nor could customers hear their numbers being called. All of these problems seem to stem from corporate guidelines and they are just so wrong on so many levels. I had a manager wanting to please me so badly but his hands were tied. This is in dramatic contrast to another burger joint in Bloomington, Bubs, whose meat is cooked to order and the ambiance is more relaxing. My experience at 5 Guys was so dismal, and this is not just failing to meet expectations, but failing to meet minimal standards of good food preparation. read more

GREAT JAMS, FREE PEANUTS! I don't eat beef too often -- not even fresh, never-frozen beef -- but the burgers look pretty damn good. What keeps me coming back are the fries (I'd rather have the plain fries and dunk 'em in some vinegar) and the vegetable sandwich WITH CHEESE, PLEASE. It's messy but delicious. Go all the way and throw some jalapenos on it, too. The burgers are in the $5-6 range, the veggie sandwich is about $2.65 and a regular order of fries is around $3. A large order of fries is expensive because it's a fucking bucket of fries with about as many bagglers to boot. read more

I had one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had last evening at 5 guys. We have been loyal customers. Last evening, I tried using the Five Guys app to place an order. When I entered my CC info, the app died. I called the store to see if my order had been received and was told it had not. When I asked to place my order over the phone I was told "we are pretty busy, try the web". I tried the web with exactly the same results. I called and attempted to use the automated ordering system. I asked for mayo and the system replied, "I think you asked for a bottle of water". I hung up and called back and got the same person I had talked to before. Once again I explained what happened and now he reluctantly agreed to take my order over the phone. I got one sandwich ordered and asked for no bun, lettuce wrap. He then asked if that was "allergy or preference". I said preference but then questioned why he asked since this is not on the app or web. After a brief exchange, I repeated my answer, preference. He said, "I guess you really don't want Five Guys tonight" and hung up on me. At this point I went to the store and asked for a manager. A young man came from behind the counter and I explained my experience so far. I did, barely, get an apology. He then took my order. I did ask why I would be told they were too busy to take my phone order since there were only 2 other people in the store. He replied there were a lot of online orders. Note that while I was in the store, only 2 people came in to pick up online orders. After I got my food, I asked for the manager's name and the name of the person who had hung up on me. The manager went into the back, made a phone call, printed something, took it to another room, etc. While this was going on, another employee approached me and gave me a piece of scrap paper with his hand-written name on it. His name was Dre Brown. I told him I wanted the manager's name and the name of the person who hung up on me. He took his paper back and walked away.The manager finally emerged from the back. He had hand-written his first name, "Kae" on a scrap piece of paper and 2 other small scraps of paper which appeared to be his employee number or something. I again asked for the person's name who hung up on me. At that point, Dre Brown spoke up and said it was him. At this point, Kae asked me to leave. I have honestly never been treated this poorly in a customer situation. read more

Five Guys has fresh burgers and not one freezer in the place, so fresh food is always on their menu. Soda machine offers a variety of soft drinks. They have fresh cut fries, burgers cooked to order, grilled hot dogs, grilled cheese, BLT, veggie sandwich. A large fry here is big enough for two or three people to share. They also have lots of milk shake options...including bacon! Two people can order a burger and fries for about the same price as two value meals at other places in town, but the food is fresh and tastes fresh. read more

Love. this. place. We have eaten here many times since we moved to this town about 4 months ago. The biggest problem with this place is--I think it can be addictive! The first time we ate here, we obsessed about it for a week after. Omg. This place is NOT the "midwestern In N Out"--it is so much better. Especially when you get your burger with fantastic toppings like grilled mushrooms (a must). Super tasty. The are just two reasons it gets less than 5 stars: lack of "ambiance" and ranch dressing. Yes, I'll explain--the ambiance is sorely lacking. While a lot of folks I'm sure love the music, we find it irritating, peculiarly loud and it certainly does not make for a welcoming environment. (The cold tables, metal chairs and bad lighting don't help either.) And ranch dressing? C'mon. There is only one thing that would make the fries here even yummier. And it's not dipping them in the malt vinegar they serve, although I fully support it if you like that stuff. Oh well, perhaps it's too much to ask. Only get the highly-touted cajun version if you love over-salted on top of spicy seasonings (and be sure to drink plenty of water!), otherwise the regular ones are actually better. On the whole, burgers were better at The Farm (bison burger), Nick's English Hut, and Opie Taylors. Fries were better at Finches Brasserie (try their home-made mayonnaise-aoli or mayo-vinegar with the fries), The Farm, Arby's (curly fries only), and Cheesburger in Paradise. Considering you wait in line to place your order and then pick it up, service was fine. My partner, Katie, said that the choice of five iced teas was above average. She preferred the non-sweetened one, saying it tasted just like hot tea, only colder. read more
