It was an interesting addition to the sandwich because it made the sandwich a little more sour. I added a little hot honey to help counter some of the sourness. The Hive bun was very fresh. It had great texture- crunchy edges but spongy middle. The burgers looked good but appeared very small. I was a little surprised by the portion size considering the cost. It was very expensive for such a small burger that did not come with sides & drink. I liked the big plastic cups for water. It had a bunch of advertisements on the cup, but thought it was great sizewise for water. Usually we get a small plastic flimsy cup for water at other restaurants, so it was a nice surprise. The staff was friendly and served our order relatively quickly. Patrons came in waves. The outside is deceiving because the sign isn't flashy and looks relatively small. Went to Hive for the first time today. The interior is very pleasant ! Love the outside seating option, too. Opted for the smash burger and tots. The burger is exactly what I love about a burger - simple and flavorful. Love that it comes with onions ! I ate the pickles on the side and they were also delicious. The tater tots were good, the first 2-3. After that, they became very salty and almost too much to enjoy. Loved the seasoning, just thought it needed to be less. Or more even over all the tots. I got tea and didn't realize it was unsweetened. Delicious tea, just needed some sugar. I loved that they had all of their own soda on tap. The cardamom cream soda is one of my fave Lennie's sodas. Love this place so far. I've just gotten lunch a few times but they have a bit of everything on the menu with options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options! I've tried the vegan banh mi, vegan reuben, vegan brown sugar cookie, blondie, and Italian soda in lavender and vanilla. The marinated tofu used on both the banh mi sandwich and reuben is delicious. Lots of veggies on both of the sandwiches. The banh mi wasn't traditional - the mint and cilantro were more like a pesto instead of whole fresh herbs and the marinated tofu is a little different - but I really liked their take on it. Both desserts were really good, but in particular the gooey blondie with the flaked salt topping. I'm also grateful for the option to add cream to the Italian soda here - I love Italian cream soda but this is the first place I've been in a while that makes it. We stopped into the Hive looking for something quick and not fried. You order at counter get a number, and they bring it out to you. I enjoyed the chill vibe. I grabbed a Cortado coffee to go, and it was great! The Banh Mi was good. Not authentic, but had good flavor. I liked how it was wrapped in the parchment for cleaner eating. I could have used more veggies in it. The chicken pot pie was very flaky and good. Soup and rice and beans were comforting. I've been to Hive a few times and it's a solid option for breakfast and lunch. Hive is a stand to order type of place/counter-service, immediately upon entry. The chicken pot pie was a bit too sweet for my liking. Baked goods are pretty good. Their matcha (notoriously bitter) was surprisingly done well. Service is usually timely. We came at an intense Sunday brunch rush hour and they were good about letting us know that we were close to their max capacity so that we were more prepared for ordering. Had brunch today (Sunday) on the patio. We came in at 11:30 and got seated easily. Ordering is at the cashier then you seat yourself here. I had a heady veggie sandwich which was was very tasty and filling for a veggie option. All of the ingredients were fresh and the black beans/hummus had a slight kick to the flavor. Hubs had blueberry pancakes and veggie quiche. He didn't think either had much flavor unfortunately (which is why only 4 stars). My son had biscuits and gravy which he loved. This was my first time trying Hive. I've heard so many good things about the tater tots so I had to try them. This is the type of place where you order at the front, sit down, and then they bring your food to you when it's ready. I liked how spacious it was with lots of natural light and outdoor seating for when it's nice out. We ordered the smash burgers and these were decent burgers. I expected a little more flavor but it's okay. The bun is really soft but the meat and toppings slip out really easily. The tater tots were honestly life changing--a 5/5! Hadn't been to Hive in a while. Decided to take advantage of their 50% off coffee drinks deal since they just got an espresso machine. Plus I wanted a late lunch/early dinner. The person working the register and taking orders seemed a bit confused. I ordered a double smash burger (the first time trying that item) and tots. My wife ordered the quarter chicken with a garden salad. It took a surprisingly long time for our food to arrive, especially considering that there were very few customers. However, the food was good. I enjoyed the burger and you cannot go wrong with deep-fried tater tots. We then went back up front and ordered a couple of coffee drinks (mocha and cappuccino) and a couple of pieces of pie. The person who made the coffee drinks did a great job, they were delicious. (and half price!) The pie was good, the crust was especially well done. We had been bypassing Hive due to spotty customer service on previous visits, and the portion sizes that seemed to be shrinking. However, it was solid on this visit and we look forward to adding it back to our regular dining rotation. read more

I heard great things about Hive and was eager to try it but was really disappointed by the food. We had the Yoga bowl, Baja bowl, Cristo smashburger with fries, and chicken pot pie. The greens and alfalfa sprouts in the Yoga and Baja bowls were wilted. The greens were starting to go bad as they were discolored and mushy (not because they were dressed but because it was kept wet for too long) and sour and really should have been thrown out rather than served. The bowl overall did not have much flavor to it. The sweety-drop peppers were my favorite part of the Yoga bowl. The 7-minute egg is actually only have an egg and there were only a couple slivers of avocado. For a $13.75 vegetarian bowl, I would have expected them to be a little more generous with the protein. The Baja bowl was not much better although at least there is a reasonable amount of chicken on there. The chicken was not too dry but not flavorful. I was disappointed by the chicken considering that they're supposed to be known for their chicken?! I did not love the combination of ingredients in this bowl. All of the flavor in this bowl comes from the avocado salsa. The frisco smashburger was the burger of the day. This was the best item of everything we had. I can remember what was in it but the bread was toasted well and it was a good combination overall. The fries were not soggy but not crispy either. There was seasoning on it but it was pretty plain. The chicken pot pie was mostly crust. I usually like crust but this was excessive crust (1-2 cm) with very little filing. There is supposed to be carrots, peas, corn, and chicken in there but all I really could taste is the crust. You order at the counter and they bring food out to you. You bus the tables yourself. The staff are nice and I like the ambiance of the restaurant. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong dishes but unfortunately, we just did not enjoy the food. read more

I wrote a 5 star review in 2022 but today I had to write a one-star that only concerns the chicken salad sandwich ($14!). It was so incredibly awful I thought it would be a public service to alert everyone. First, they make it with dark meat (who does that?); next it is big chunks of chicken, some containing gristle, so not well blended at all. The flavor is pretty much tasteless. And they put it on a Hive bun which is a really nasty piece of bread. The only good thing about this sandwich is the turmeric slaw they put on the sandwich. I only had two bites and just couldn't even eat the rest it was so awful. I should have sent it back and asked for a refund but they were busy, as usual. Please Hive, do better - if you're going to have something on the menu make it delicious. This sandwich is horrible. read more

Definitely a popular breakfast/ brunch/lunch place. Spacious with lots of seating inside and outside. I was greeted at the counter. The manager suggested I try the Cuban breakfast bowl, a fresh and healthy take on arroz a la cubana. Two eggs over easy and runny just how I like it with black beans, rice, Cotija cheese, pico avocado salsa, and cilantro. They also have craft sodas, coffee, and plenty of baked goods to try. Service was quick and friendly. They bring out your food on little baking sheets. I wanted to like this place. But the food was mediocre, not elevated. A filling portion, but a little steep in price ($13.75). I guess I was expecting a bit more. Maybe I am a rice snob, but was not expecting overcooked sticky long grain white rice. Looking at the bowl, I thought. I can make a better version of this at home and with more flavor. Yes, it is vegetarian and gluten free, but give me more spice, a little kick, some sofrito (tomato sauce) or plantains. There is so much potential! Maybe I am asking for too much. Hive specializes in roast chicken, brunch and comfort food, so what do I do? I order a burger. Doh! I can't trust myself to order food sometimes. My burger was fine, but I can't help but feel like I should have ordered differently. They have smash burgers here, which are those very tasty and thin burgers. But it was a burger, you know? Good, but not unlike a burger you can fine elsewhere. One of my eagle-eyed children noticed some rolls of MrBeast stickers in the kitchen, which makes me think that Hive is a satellite kitchen for MrBeast Burger. And after I tasted my burger, I am almost positive of this hypothesis, because I've had MrBeast burgers before, and that's what they taste like. My husband got the chicken pot pie, and enjoyed it a lot. Which is why I think I should have ordered differently: Of course my husband enjoyed his food a lot -- he ordered something that they specialize in! My in-laws got chicken salad sandwiches, and I was jealous because they looked really good. Note to everyone: Get the chicken (or something with chicken in it) at Hive. Even if I can't trust myself to order lunch, I can always trust myself when ordering dessert. And I got two desserts: a cinnamon roll and the Hive Pie, which is similar to sugar cream pie. I can't decide which one I loved more, but why pick one when I can love both equally? I made a good decision when choosing my desserts. The cinnamon roll is huge and easily shareable (which I did), and it was super gooey and soft, like a great cinnamon roll should be. The waitress was extremely helpful as well as friendly. she told us about their new smash cheeseburger, and we decided to try it out. It was delicious!
