Five Guys is our favorite place for burgers and I've tried quite a few in the area (Mr. Bartley's, Wild Willy's, UBurger to name a few of the more popular places). The patties are hand formed and despite being fried on a griddle, are pretty good. The fries have the skin on and can be ordered regular or cajun style. The hot dogs aren't bad and I love the sweet tea. They also make it easy when ordering with a simple menu and simple pricing (all toppings are free so no 50 cents extra for tomato, $1 for bacon, etc). They fry all the food in peanut oil so beware if you have allergies. We come here at least once a month for lunch and there's always a line out the door and a wait for tables. But everything moves quickly so you don't have to wait too long for your food. read more

it was 90+ degrees and i found myself living every man's dream. yes. i was getting new tires at sears. i figured, if my life was going to suck in one respect, i'd treat myself in another. enter five guys. i'll keep it simple. the "famous" burgers are double patties. the famous bacon cheeseburger is about 2/3 of a pound of juicy grilled meat + bacon + your choice of FIFTEEN toppings (i went with ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, lettuce and tomatoes) = good. a "small" order of fries came in a 12 oz. styrofoam cup (not cool) that itself came in a bag with enough extra fries in it to fill up said cup twice more (3 fries, one cup?) = good. DO NOT come here under any circumstances if you have peanut allergies. unless you want to die. then come here. 5 guys, 4 stars, but it's more like 3.75. i'd definitely come back, but only if i were in the area. and, since sears will rotate my tires for free every 6,000 miles, i'd say i'll be back in about 6 or 7 months. read more

We never eat fast food (McDonald's/BK/Wendy's) however we love 5 Guys. Compared to local sit down restaurants like 3-squares that charge $12 - $14 for a single burger, 5 Guys is truly a bargain for half the price. Besides the awesome Coke machine that gives you the ability to combine 100's of flavors, the potato farm is posted as is the location the beef was raised. Perhaps some may consider 5 Guys fast food , which it is, super fast - but when the purveyors are posted , it is truly a big step above the rest. I grew up a few miles from the original Five Guys location in VA, where this chain is an institution. I was so happy when this location opened last year, the first one in the Boston area. Ground rules: 1) This is a fast food burger, fried on a griddle. It's not a pub-style grilled burger. They are two fundamentally different preparations. Grease is part of the package: if you don't like a greasy burger, don't eat here. 2) Unless you are an exceptionally hungry person, you will do just fine ordering a small fries and a small burger. The "regular" burger is a towering monstrosity (of the best kind), so don't tackle it unless you're up for it. And don't be fooled by the size of the cups the fries are served in: the cup goes in a paper bag and is overflowed. A small fries will be more than enough for one person. 3) Enjoy some peanuts while you wait. It's part of the experience. I don't have much to add that others haven't covered here, except that I vastly prefer the regular fries to the cajun fries (they are not battered like, say, Popeye's cajun fries, they just have a lot of cajun spice powder on them). This place confuses me! It looks like one of those cheesy deli/sandwich/ice cream shop combos in your local strip mall, not a national chain. They cram more than five guys--more like 12 people--into a kitchen the size of a bathroom. And they're not all guys either! HUHWUT? I heard a lot about this peanut smashing tradition, but I haven't seen it. I think they keep them boxed up toward the back. I don't get how peanuts and burgers go together! Eek, my head starts to hurt here. I am all about fried potato goodness. Five Guys' come in cajun and plain varieties, and honestly, I've sampled both, and they just taste "red" to me. I'm bewildered! The burgers? well, I'm not an expert, because I don't eat red meat often. They definitely seem pretty tasty (I get the single baby burger size: I like my arteries), but that could be some sleight of ham(burger) because of all the stuff I can get on top of it, like barbeque sauce, A1 sauce, jalepenos, mustard, blah blah blah. But dang, I can chow down on a bacon-mushroom-swiss burger in like 30 seconds. My head may be discombobulated, but my stomach is far from it. Word to the wise: check your order before you leave if you're getting it to go. All that choreographed food delivery ballet results in the occasional missed item from your order. Five Guys is great if you are looking for a quick burger and fries but don't want to go to McDonald's, Burger King, etc. While they might not be as quick as the typical fast food places, it is worth the extra 5-10 min wait. The burgers are great and so are the fries. I don't expect to be going back to McDonald's or Burger King anytime soon with Five Guys just a bit further up the street. Not much on the menu besides burgers (hot dogs and I think grilled cheese are on there too) so make sure that's definitely what you want before you come here. They are slightly bit more expensive than the fast food dives but it's worth every penny (a cheeseburger and the regular fries cost me $8 (no drink)). PS. Don't order the large fries unless there are three of you. They only come in two sizes - regular and large. I am a french fry addict and the regular size put me way over the edge. read more

Hubby & I were starving one Saturday afternoon while running errands & stopped in (we had tried another time but it was far too full). Ordered up 2 burgers (mine small since I can't eat the regular), 2 drinks & a big order of fries. I've been to Five Guys twice now. Overall the quality of the hamburgers is pretty good. It's a hamburger, and sometimes that's exactly what you want- a hamburger between the fakeness of fast food, but without the wait of going to a full sit down restaurant. The peanuts to entertain me while I wait are always enjoyable and something you definitely don't see very many places. My heart hated me but my stomach loved me. I'm a bit torn about my review. The cheeseburger - which was unexpectedly a double cheeseburger (hence the creaking sounds of my heart after eating it) was actually very good for a fast food burger. Infinitely better than McDonald's or Bk or any of those places. It was well cooked, tasted like actual meat and I was able to pick my toppings. The cheese was also a nice accompaniment. I ordered the Cajun fries and this is where I was a bit disappointed. Some fries had lots of seasoning some had barely any. Also, I would have preferred a smaller size if possible because lots of fries ended up in the trash. It was a tragedy. They also messed up the order of my buddy - so a quarter star dinged for that (It would have been more if it had been my order!). Since I'm not a big fan of fast food and was utterly disappointed at In and Out Burger I probably won't be back at Five Guys soon but when the taste for a burger does strike it will surely be the place I go. We drove around 20 minutes, got lost twice on the way but finally found this place. The burgers are perfect - (hey, double patty is the standard, how can they be bad?). Yes, I am addicted to burgers! Well, my hubby is more of fan of good burgers than I am. He took to Five Guys and I am hooked! This burger melted in your mouth - LITERALLY! There is a classic burger with as much toppings as you want on it (and it is free)! The cheese is what makes this burger SO good. The meat itself cook "just right" and absolutely juicy even though it is very thin. Did I mentioned their "over the top" fries with cajun spice? A size small fries can feed about 5 people! As I was enjoying my burger and fries and my friend was enjoying a grilled cheese with fries, sitting at a table in the corner, a woman who works here came to sweep under our table and said "Excuse me" and pulled out my chair as far as I could, because I was eating, and she just stood there. I said "Do you want me to move?" and she said YES. I said, very loudly, Okaaaaaay...and moved all of our food to another table JUST so she could sweep underneath our original one and then go out to the back right after. Large cajun fries are our favorite. Prices cant be beat. 20 bucks to have two full grown fatties bursting at the seams. Burgers range from ~$4-6 dollars. Fries are 5 or 4 depending on size. Place is clean- never had a complaint. Youll obviously have remnants if the person before you was inconsiderate. Service- its just order and pick up. I have never met a person that hasn't loved Five Guys! There is something about these burgers that tastes so good, it's awesome! When I found out they were anywhere near the Boston area, I made the trip. All of the toppings are free, the price is right, and the menu is SIMPLE! They know how to make a great burger, and they stick to it. And sorry to my West Coast friends, but it trumps In-N-Out. Their regular hand-cut fries surpass most, except the Cajun option I think is mediocre. Whichever fries you get, you get TONS. A regular size is good for 2 people and there are no smaller options if you are a lone eater. Also, the "regular" burgers are actually double patties and their "mini" burgers are the same thing with one patty. They always have free peanuts to munch on and Cherry Coke too, which is a plus in my book. Overall, best burgers in the world with fast comprehensive service. Easy to order and even better to love. My burger seemed slapped together and with the first bite, the pickles I asked for shot out of the back [and no, I didn't have that many condiments: pickles and lettuce for life]. I was so proud of myself for actually going to the gym for the first time in weeks... and how did I celebrate? By going with my friend Ryan to Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Dedham, MA. Yesterday was my "virgin" experience of this restaurant and all I can say is that it didn't really live up to the hype taste wise. Was it worth blowing all of the work I had just done at the gym? OF COURSE (!!!! ~.*) but this restaurant just didn't stand out above and beyond other burger places I've visited recently. The staff was unbelievably friendly and the fries (fried in Peanut Oil... this was advertised everywhere with good reason) were good and tastey, but nothing left a lasting impression. The regular burgers come double stacked and the large list of extra toppings are always free, definitely a perk. I definitely took advantage of this and ended up ordering a Baccon Cheeseburger with mayo, lettuce, tomato, jalapeno peppers, ketchup, and mustard. Definitely a decent sized burger for a a little over 5 dollars. What is nice about the restaurant is the atmosphere. What you see is what you get. I agree with an earlier comment, i also wish they had fraps or shakes on the menu. So in summary, good burgers and fries, however nothing that really stuck out as "mind-blowingly good" taste wise. read more

OK, so after all the turkey and "stuff"ing on Thursday and Friday, i needed red meat... I was up in the Nashua/Amherst area and Five Guys called me... I mean, literally called me in with the sweet smell of meat cooking. Sooooooo we stopped in at around lunch time on Saturday... Parking was easy, the Nashua location is not near any mall so it wasn't too hectic... There were about 4 people ahead of us when we got in, but soon it was our turn... Two bacon cheeseburgers "all the way" a regular fries and two drinks... just shy of $20.00 for a meat orgy....I just love the way the meat juices run down your hand when you pick up one of theburgers... My dining companion could not finish the burger since there was a little bit of a pig out scene going on with the peanuts while we waited.... so I manned up and finished that burger too.... talk about meat coma.....! the service was speedy as always, the condiments on the burger were yummy, but i need to remember to ask for no lettuce... it just takes up space in my humble opinion.... In the area for a meeting and I couldn't resist stopping in to try their legendary burgers. There is a reason they are legendary. For the same price as any of the fast food restaurants in the world, this burger will stand up to any burger any restaurant can muster. The burger was juicy, condiments fresh and they give you free peanuts to eat while you wait. French fries are home made and can be had with vinegar. Also, the meal comes served in a paper bag which is great to rip open and spread out on the table as they don't use trays. It's worth a trip just to try one. And you can order online or via phone so your food is ready to be picked up when you get there. Expect them to become more prolific as Five Guy's supposedly has plans to expand in the area. read more

This place has the best burgers I've had in Boston thus far. The space is small and sparse with articles of praise lining almost every surface. My friends fro PA and VA used to rave about Five Guys, and this was our first time in the shop, because we were in the neighborhood. The burgers come in 2 sizes, I got the smaller "all the way." The bf got the regular. We split a large fry. Before our order came up, we grabbed some of the salted peanuts available in huge bulk bags near the counter. What a great idea! If it weren't for the numerous warnings not to take peanuts out with you because of "peanut allergies in the neighborhood," I would have filled my burger bag with them and eaten the as a midnight snack. My burger was juicy and a perfect size. There were tons of toppings and a good bun. However, it was very difficult to eat as things fell out of it after every bite. My biggest complaint would be that the onions and bacon on top were chopped into bits, and consequently would not stay their delicious little asses IN the burger and not on the table underneath. I'm wondering if I could just request whole ones next time to remedy this... The fries were made of actual whole, fresh potatoes allegedly sourced in the DC metro, which is nice. They were brown and delicious. The prices were on par with other higher-end fast food joints, and the quality was much better. I am a super burger snob. Usually, the only burgers I like are my own which are really seasoned and more like meatballs. But I'd happily take these in a pinch. Too bad it's way the hell out in Dedham. read more

Two words: Rigby, Idaho. That's where today's potatoes are from. Problem is, every time I go to Five Guys, they're always from Rigby, Idaho. They've got a big sign telling me where they're from. But if they're always from there, does it really require a special sign? Ahem ... The burgers are really good. Cooked fast, topped with whatever you want with anything from A1 Sauce to jalapenos. Small chain with, yup, you guessed it, burgers and fries! They also have boxes full of free peanuts (roasted or salted, your choice). The best part about this place is being able to customize your burger. All the toppings are free. They also have hot dogs (I tried one...they're so-so). I brought a friend here and he was shocked that you could have mushrooms on your burger at no extra charge. If you're like me and find that most burgers are much to large, I recommend ordering the "Little" hamburgers. They are single patties, whereas the regular burgers are two. The best part would have to be the ridiculous amount of fries they give you. A small fry goes a long way, believe me. I've made the mistake of ordering a large to share and found we still had fries left over. They serve them in a Styrofoam cup and then once in the bag they shovel in even more, which just end up in the bottom of the bag. read more

The beef is about as fresh as can be, and they are formed as flat patties and thrown onto the griddle. The result is greasy, juicy, messy slabs of pure heaven.
