I had heard amazing things about Birdies Hot Chicken and knew I had to try it! First, I want to shout out the amazing service I got. The cashier/server was super friendly. I asked what's the most popular order and recommended the sliders to me since that's what they're known for! I decided on a slider and tender combo that was about $14-15. Don't be fooled when ordering a slider though, they call it a slider but it's HUGE! I usually think of sliders as small bites but this was a whole full sandwich. I went for medium heat and I thought it wasn't too spicy but definitely had a small amount of heat to it. The chicken came out hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and very flavorful! Not to mention, the chicken was also super juicy. I really enjoyed their Birdie Sauce to dip my fries and chicken tender in. I also liked the fact they drizzle the sauce on the slider as well. The sauce was super tasty and paired well with the chicken. It's similar to Dave's Sauce or Raising Canes but unique and great in its own right. I also liked that they included pickles but definitely wish I had more than 3 pieces. Birdies is an awesome place to grab a quick take-out meal or sit down. There are some old-school arcade games (which are free to play!!) that are awesome and give off a cool vibe! There are a few tables to sit down at as well and the restaurant itself is very clean. I ordered the chicken leg quarter with mac & cheese, hot spice level and no substitution charge for the mac & cheese. I did the order on the app and was able to pick it up quickly in the store upon arrival. The spice level on the chicken leg cord it was very good. It's a dry spice not a wet spice the chicken my quarter was maybe a little small for some but it was only 899 for the order so that's actually pretty good in my view. An additional chicken leg quarter is 299 which is also good. It seems to be a zing to the macaroni and cheese and a person who might've been the owner of the manager said that shouldn't be, but maybe that was just me. This place is fantastic. Better than Dave's imo, a tiny bit cheaper for the same items, and just as crispy and at times more juicy. The first slider I had from here was truly unforgettable, it was so god damn drippy it was insane. I hate that I'm even adding this cus I'm scared this will make it more expensive, but I always add the quarter leg combo for $4.50 it's essentially a whole nother meal and is perfect to add to rice when I feel lazy. They have their other location in Brockton.  Birdies Hot Chicken offers a straightforward menu including chicken tenders (choose your spicy level), fries, cheese fries, sliders, chicken & waffles, jumbo wings, mac & cheese, fried Oreos, chocolate churros and Pepsi fountain drinks. This place is order at the counter with table seating to the left. Birdies has similar offerings and pricing to a large national hot chicken chain with a Canadian rapper as an investor. I stopped by Birdies Hot Chicken in Westwood on grand opening day for lunch. The place was very busy with all tables inside occupied, so it was takeout for me. There was no line out the door and I was able to place my order within 3 minutes and ordered the #2 Combo (same number as the other place, lol), 2 Sliders (Medium spiciness) & Fries ($14.50 plus tax) and a side of Mac & Cheese ($4.00 plus tax). They call your name when your order is ready. It took 10 minutes after ordering for my order to be packed, bagged, and ready to go. The sliders had crisp thick chicken tenders, slaw, sweet pickles & tangy orange Birdie sauce on soft buns were very good. The chicken tenders were crispy outside which had an initial sweet flavor, then medium hot taste! I did bite into a small piece of grizzle in one tender. The crinkle cut fries, not salted, were golden fried and firm. The Mac & Cheese had firm dense macaroni and some thick orange cheese sauce. I've been to the Brockton location and when we were running errands in the south shore we were thrilled to see that there was a second location in Westwood !!! Friendly staff greeted us the moment we walked in, and was super attentive and helpful. I love how open the kitchen is - you get to see the fresh foods being made to order. We tried the new Dave's hot chicken in Dedham and it's just simply not as good. Less flavor, smaller tenders, Mac and cheese isn't as good as birdies and they don't have chocolate churro dessert which is to die for. I read many reviews about the staff being rude so I was curious about service as well as the food. When I arrived it was pretty late (about 8pm). They close at 9pm. Upon arriving I saw a tiny hand written note that says the last order is taken at 8:45 taped to the door. I was in the safe zone but I was told that I had to take my food to go even though there was plenty of time & seating available. Fine w me because I planned on eating at home. As I waited for my food I asked if everything was cooked to order or sitting behind the kitchen wall cooked already in a basket? The friendly cashier told me it was "made to order". She was very helpful being that it was my 1st visit. I reflected on the reviews and said I would update accordingly because they were not bad. It wasn't until other customers showed up and they were told either to "get their food to go" or "no more orders were being taken" due to the cook sticking her head out a window and telling the cashier not to put any more orders in even though they weren't closed yet. You could tell she was annoyed though. Luckily the people walking in all ordered online ahead of time. The look on their faces was priceless. The food was ok. Wasn't bad but wasn't anything I had to come back for the next day. I feel if you are specializing only in boneless chicken tenders, you better be on point and knock everyone's Sox off. With that said I ordered a single tender mildly spiced just so I could try it out at home. Ordered a combo slider and tender plain which came with fries. The mild spice chicken and plain tasted similar. Both seasoned. The tender is served on a white piece of bread in the box and a side of sauce. The sauce and chicken together had a pretty good flavor. Similar to mayo/ketchup mix. The slider had slaw, pickles, drizzled sauce on a potato roll. Could do without the slaw. Was basically another huge tender on a potato roll. Since it was a combo it also came with another chicken tender. Would of been fine without the combo and just a slider with fries. The combo should also come with a drink for the price. The chicken had a flaky light coating that wasn't just breaded. It was pretty good. The fries were dry and didn't seem fresh. I will not know until I order them again. If they come like that again it's probably over cooked or sitting too long. I will give it another go now that I know what to expect. In addition, they have a wide variety of spice levels. They should offer a grilled chicken option for those that don't want fried. Maybe even their own Cesar's chicken salad version offered would be a nice alternative. The place itself looks drab and dark. Doesn't really make you feel like eating there. It's like an empty party hall that needs something to lighten the mood. Like better decor, more lighting and maybe some monitors to watch news, Movies or music videos etc...something. Can't wait to try Dave's chicken to compare the two. read more

PSA for those who like spice: The mild isn't like a mild, its more like hot lava. So keep that in mind if you decide to give this place a try.
