Have been ordering from them for the past few months (on UberEats) and there's definitely good items and bad items. The hot dogs are by far one of the best items they got and the fries are decent. If you want to spice it up, you can add chili cheese to either of them. Both are pretty good and are essentially a meal and a half (big portions). Their ice cream, sundaes, and shakes/drinks have been solid too. Can't wait to try the lime rickey others are talking about. I've had some of their basic pizzas (pepperoni, combo, etc.) by the slice and they've been pretty yummy, but trying some of their special pizzas is a coinflip. Being a 'coinflip' is kind of a theme here. I imagine anything more complicated (seafood, pastas, steak, etc.) than hot dogs, sandwiches, and basic sides (fries, onion rings, etc.) will always be fifty-fifty. It's maybe even a little worse cause they don't specify most things on their UberEats menu (i.e. pizza) and have almost no pictures for anything. If you stick with their classics, you will for sure have a good time... but try anything special and expect it to be meh most of the time. Also, I'll say it again. Please update your UberEats menu and add more descriptions/pictures. You'll definitely get more customers that way. read more

Used to come here in high school when we skipped school, so I had top drop by since I was in the neighborhood. For memory sake it was nostalgic. But the food isn't what I remembered. When I was a kid, this place was the best of the best. Now decades later, it's still good but the quality isn't the same prices have skyrocketed. If Yelp allowed half stars, I'd give Simco's a solid 3.5/5. One huge positive for me is the 7/week open late night hours these guys have provided for night owls such as myself (I believe (at least pre-Covid) they stayed open till 2am every night). For being one of the major, historic metropolitan centers in America, calling Boston's selection of even somewhat decent late night food spots a barren tundra would be a disservice to barren tundras everywhere, where a man might at least be able to come by the odd animal carcass every hundred or so miles that might not have been completely stripped clean of meat by circling vultures. Speaking of vultures, another big plus about Simco's is despite being one of the only late night places offering takeout in Boston, they don't use their patron's intoxicated lack of fiscal responsibility as a means to jam their sharp beaks into the customer's wallets to greedily snag every last greenback possible (yeah I'm looking at you Mattapan pizza joint that has changed names like 7 times because of incredibly shady price gouging practices). Anyway, I wouldn't go trying to get anything to fancy here. I see some reviews from people complaining the "haddock wasn't the crispiest they've had" or the "veal parm was on the gamy side"...I mean, just cuz it's on the menu, doesn't necessarily mean common sense dictates ordering the dish at 1:30am is going to yield fantastic results. They make solid hot dogs and fries, ya know? The chicken fingers, I'm sure aren't too bad either, even though I've not had them yet if I'm being honest... The one thing on the menu that truly blew my mind was Simco's holding the key to quite literally the most heavenly Raspberry Lime Rickey anyone's ever made since the dawn of time! I don't know how many magical pixies they have to murder and sprinkle in each of these thirst quenching concoctions, but they can RIP knowing they've not died in vain. I LOVE Simco's. And I think I always will. First, I should tell you my parents went to the Mattapan Simco's on their first date (after seeing The Godfather) and have been together ever since, so Simco's is part of my history. My family says as long as the boyfriend and I don't go after watching The Godfather that we are safe from marriage (until we don't want to be safe from that anymore). The Simco's crew know us when we call and laugh at us bearing the outdoor service style in the middle of winter for cold sundaes. I am a huge ice cream fanatic, and can't go more than a week without getting a sundae from Simco's. Oreo with hot fudge, nuts, whipped cream, and cherries. The quality is superb and the size substantial. I wouldn't go here for pizza, and the chicken tenders and fries use to be amazing, but they changed the chicken and it's fairly dry now. More hard breading than chicken. However, the hot dogs, burgers, onion rings, raspberry lime rickeys, gyros, and meatball subs (to name a few) are well worth the trip (even in cold weather). read more

Today my wife ordered an Oreo Sundae with specific instructions on all the toppings she wanted on her Sundae. The people at Simcos decided to add walnuts even though that was not one of the toppings she asked for. The result was the left side of my wife's face became swollen because she has an allergy to nuts. After she took benadryl I proceeded to call Simcos and complain of this fiasco. Instead of an apology the gentleman who answered the phone became defensive and stated that my wife did not specify that she had a nut allergy in which I replied that all the toppings that she wanted were written in the instructions and walnuts were not requested. After some back and forth commentary it was clear to me that this individual saw no error in the service he provided. Even though my anger gave me the urge to drive to Canterbury st and smack blood out of the mouth of this ignorant negligent individual. Im blessed that the situation was manageable enough that my wife didn't have to go to the emergency room. And to avoid any future situations we've decided to stop spending money with Simcos. I have not been here in several months, but I used to be assigned to this area and I came here for lunch regularly. I almost always get the hot dogs. I love hot dogs, and these are the best you can buy. The dogs and buns are both grilled, and they butter the buns. I've also had the fries and burgers, which were very good, and the onion rings and fried clams were excellent. The fried clams were an impulse buy, I'm a seafood fanatic and I especially like fried clams, I will not eat mediocre fried clams, so I had second thoughts about not ordering my usual hot dog. To my surprise, Simco's fried clams were excellent. Not cheap, but top notch. If you don't mind getting them window service, these were about as good as you can get anywhere. I was so surprised that this place had SO many seafood dishes! The burger came with two patties and was good. I had also ordered a small box of calamari which was HUGE. 10 bucks for calamari was a steal because it tasted good and there was so much! the only downside about this place is that they are cash only! don't worry because there is an ATM literally right near it.
