The burgers here were great and the service was fast. We ordered 5 burgers with a variety of fixings, and 2 large fries. We barely had dug into our free peanuts when our number was called and our order was up! Maybe we got lucky and went on a slow night but I was impressed and how quickly everything was made and to order. Now, it's not a cheap night out for fries and a burger for sure. It was over $60 for 5 of us and note that we shared 2 large fries between us (no worries - there are enough fries in the bag to make up another whole order). And, while it appears to have a veggie option on the menu there is NO PATTY on the veggie burger - it's just the vegetables from the fixings menu which is a little deceiving. I know it's a burger joint but sometimes you are there for the kids and mum would like a different option. The other reason I'm only giving this place 3 stars is because I was freezing while I ate. I understand the workers have to stay cool while they are cooking but that means the customers are freezing while they eat. There are things I really like about this place, and there are things that I dislike about this place. Let's go with the dislikes first. I don't like places where I pay the amount for a service option that I need to go to the counter to order. Really, it is pricey. The burgers doesn't come with fries, and for the amount they charge, I feel like they can come to your table and serve you. And...they don't even bring the food to the table you have to wait at the other end of the counter and grab you stuff yourself. And also, oddly they don't have combo meals...so you need to order all your stuff separately which in my head feels like a rip off. Nothing much to look at on the inside either and in February in Edmonton it was FREEZING inside because the whole place was glass windows. Not the smartest move on the construction end. So uncomfortable and overpriced. And...lack of choices.. to be honest I was here with friends. This wouldn't of been my choice to eat at. I am really not a burger girl. I am really not a burger girl when there are no chicken/fish/veggie burger options. What they have are various beef burgers, hot dogs, and token "veggie sandwiches" which looked bland. Really what they contain, are veggies on the grill thrown into a burger bun. Does not sound tasty or exciting. I did a cheese burger with as many free veggie toppings that I could pack in - lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, onions (both grilled and raw...nice touch), grilled mushrooms, green peppers and hot sauce. The meat was flavourful and I appreciated that you could order as much of the toppings without being charged extra. The small fries were HUGE for being small fries. And they were crispy and tasty. They do have free peanuts that you can unshell yourself...which is fine if you like them. I am not a huge fan, and if you have a peanut allergy I would avoid this place altogether. After I sat down to eat and had a minute to look at the menu, I realize that I would have enjoyed a shake. They have lots of interesting flavours and although it was -25 C, there was still a few being whipped out and they looked good. Their flavours included Bananas Cherries Chocolate Coffee Malted Milk Oreo Cookie Pieces Peanut butter Salted Caramel Strawberries And, I want to point out, that if I actually had someone serve me, I would have ordered a milkshake as a dessert. If you are looking for value, I find that Red Robins is in the same ballpark in terms of taste and selection, AND they serve you and have a much more comfortable atmosphere. First thing i have to say.. If you are allergic to peanuts... stay away. There's peanuts everywhere. Stacks of it . Thry use peanut oil for their fries . And you can help yourself to peanuts while waiting for your order. Burger choices are standard. Cheese. Bacon. Regular burger is 2 patties $9 and change . A tiny burger is a single patty $7 and change. Unfortunately they have no combo prices. So a burger , fries and drink will be around $15 . I ordered a single patty , made my " complimentary " condiment choices ( most places dont charge for them any way.. so i dont know why they emphasize it's free ) with bacon. No cheese.And a drink. $10.56 . I'm sorry to say.. but that patty is the smallest patty i have ever seen.. plus the bacon was in pieces .. like you'd see in a Caesars salad. Ohh and cheese.. even though i didnt want it Taste? Delicious burger.. but not quite filling as i thought it would be. The fries were absolutely disgusting.. soggy ( old oil in the fryer ) and cold. That said I was rather disappointed with the fries on my most recent visit here. I don't know what it was about the fries but although there was copious amounts of them, they weren't as delicious as I've had elsewhere. That said I did like the fact that they still had potato peels on them. The burger was good but it often tries to fall apart so be sure to eat it quickly enough. The seating area is pretty good and the windows let in a lot of light. Colouring pages exist for kids and staff clears tables frequently. This place is definitely not a good one to visit with anyone with a peanut allergy -- the free peanuts are everywhere. But if you like peanuts in the shell it's a perfect place to visit! read more

Came here on a weekday at their opening time & it's not busy until about half hour after opening. There's lots of parking stalls, and the place is immaculately clean. High chairs are near the washrooms. For the menu, there's a lot of toppings to choose from, it's kinda hard to not overdo it! I've always ordered a little burger here because their version of little is regular sized compared to other burger chains. It's not super fast, but not painfully slow from order to table. I barely ate 1/3 of the tray of self serve peanuts by the time my order was ready. They are super generous with French fries... if you order a regular, that's plenty enough for 2 people. I do like how they list which local potato farm they got their fries from for that day & how they are fried in peanut oil. Love how there's a Cajun option too. Free refills with fountain drinks are also a plus, although I was pretty bummed that there were no milkshakes at this location. Staff are super friendly here too. read more

The burgers here are huge - a "regular" has two patties. You can pick from a number of toppings at no additional cost. I did not have a burger, but my date's cheeseburger was huge and he liked it better than some of the other local burger joints around. I had an order of fries. The regular order was quite ample, with a splash of fries added to overflow the already large cup. These were hand cut and reminded me a bit of New York Fries but better. The cajun fries looked a little too spicy for my taste. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get, and the staff moved swiftly and were friendly. I found the red and white decor a bit disconcerting - even the towel dispenser in the washroom was red! Also, there are peanuts everywhere here, to snack on while waiting for your order. I thought that was a unique touch, but people with allergies be forewarned (they apparently fry in peanut oil also). I definitely want to come back to experience a burger. read more

Regular burger is a DOUBLE! and the little burger is a single patty. there's burgers and hot dogs here. so many options to add on your burger or hotdog..for no extra cost.: fried onions, mushrooms, and all the regular stuff, lettuce, tomatoes, relish, pickles, mayo, mustard, ketchup, and about 5 sauces to pick from too. while you're waiting for your order, there's free roasted peanuts to eat. and you chuck the shells on the ground.. yeah it felt a little weird but lots of people were doing it. We got a burger, a hot dog, a milkshake, and shared an order of fries. The place was packed but we recieved our food very quickly and it was hot and fresh. The fries were good and the portion was huge. The burger was exceptional; juicy, thick, and delicious. It wasn't a giant burger for the price but certainly enough to fill you up. Oh man, guys. It's taken me an embarrassingly long time to try Five Guys. I just assumed it was going to be gross greasy fast food. And while it was greasy, it wasn't gross. This location was incredibly clean (and pretty empty) at 5pm on a Thursday. The exceptionally friendly staff quickly greeted me while I read through the menu. I ordered a burger, drink, and fries to share. The burger was SO GOOD. I loved that you got to pick whatever toppings you wanted... so I got them all. The mushrooms were particuarly good. But seriously, the burger patty was just so good. It was greasy but not exceptionally so and tasted fresh, not frozen (though I can't confirm if there's truth to that). The fries are cooked in peanut oil and you can taste it. It's unique but I really enjoyed the flavour. They overfill them such that the bag ends up being FULL of fries. So it was a bit of a greasy mess to get my burger out, but otherwise fine. A 'regular' size fries fed 2 people just fine. We honestly probably could have gotten the 'small' size. This definitely isn't the most frugal option when it comes to fast food. A small size bacon cheeseburger, regular fries, and regular drink came to about $15. I've tried to think of at least one reason to give Five Guys more than one star but I simply can't. My boyfriend and I went there last Friday afternoon and while walking through the parking lot we noticed a couple eating inside their car even though there was seating inside - now we know why. It wasn't particularly busy when we walked in; we were able to order right away. That process was quite unpleasant though. Having never been there before, we didn't quite know how the ordering process worked but the lady that took our orders made sure we felt like idiots by the time we were done. [2 cheeseburgers, two fries & two regular sodas ($26)] After that fiasco we were offered complimentary peanuts to snack on which we declined and headed off to find a seat. [Kind of an inconsiderate choice of complimentary snack, but whatever.] Finding a seat proved difficult. Every table as well as the entire floor was littered with peanut shells. It was a disgusting mess. I would say it looked like an elephant resided there but I know even elephants are cleaner than that. And it wasn't just the shells...condiment smears coated the tables as well. No cleaning had taken place that day - it was vile. The wait was about 15 minutes or so which wasn't that bad. It at least gave us time to make our table somewhat sanitary. What baffled us the most about our experience was the fact that after they put our burgers and fries inside an oversized brown bag, they sloppily dumped an extra pile of fries into it as well. By the time we got our bag back to our table, the bag was soaked in grease. No trays are offered so it proved difficult to organize how you're going to unload your meal, especially with all those stupid dumped fries. You don't exactly want your food touching the table directly, either. The disappointment doesn't end there, unfortunately. Although the burger was wrapped in its tinfoil for a mere minute, the bun was completely soggy when unwrapped. As for the taste....it tasted like crushed dreams with a hint of mayonnaise. Even my boyfriend, who is normally easily pleased and passive when he isn't, was quite upset with the whole experience. I almost feel silly going into such detail about a burger joint but the experience was one of the worst I've had at an eating establishment. I guess it hit harder because I heard good things. I truly expected more from this place - especially when I saw the prices. I found it very odd that my stay in the restaurant order was put in a take out bag - waste of packaging. Some good news - my order of fries was way larger than I expected. The bad news - the fries weren't very good. they were over salty, cold, and dried out. The burger was very sloppily made but tasted good. The restaurant itself had problems. It was WAY too cold and the music was as loud as one would expect at a nightclub. Also there were shelled peanuts everywhere. Some would say that having free peanuts at each table and just throwing the shells anywhere would be part of this restaurant's charm - until someone with a major peanut allergy walks in and goes into anaphylactic shock. In this day and age if you're going to have peanuts everywhere, maybe put a sign on the door so people can see it before coming in. The washrooms have tilted mirrors for people in wheelchairs, however for everyone else you are looking at your pants and shoes. How about having regular mirrors as well? My fiance and I first ate here not long after they opened, and we love a good burger, so whenever a new burger place opens up, we're there. We'd heard tons about Five Guys. but never wanted to drive to the Park to check it out. I'm glad this one opened up. He got a double, I got a single, and we topped them as we saw fit, splitting an order of fries. I must say, the burger patty itself was divine. The bacon was crisp but not burnt, so I didn't have to chew through it when I took a bite. I like the grilled onions, as well. It was a nice touch. I liked the fries. Ours were fresh, hot and perfectly done. it does suck that people with a peanut allergy miss out, but if that's the way they make them, that's the way they make them. People with severe peanut allergies be warned: there are open sacks of peanuts everywhere, and I have friends who wouldn't even be able to go into this place, so that's a minus. Yes, you are going to have to wait longer for food at this place, but they make it fresh. Better "fast food" isn't going to be sitting under a heat lamp and available right away. If you like your food instantly, this is not the burger place for you. If you want it to taste good, give them a try. I don't mind the "take out bags for all" approach. It streamlines the process a bit at the cash counter. I didn't like the selection of drinks. We're not pop drinkers, so having a choice of shakes or something would be nice. I also don't drink remineralized water, which is all they had (I like my water without added salt thanks). The cheese could use some improvement. It was very processed, and I don't think processed cheese adds to a burger. The bun could also have been bigger, as someone else mentioned. For those little reasons, they lose a star. Went here for a Friday lunch. Left work a little early hoping to beat the rush, arrived right at noon. People were already lined up out the door. I was ready to be amazed. After waiting in line for a while, I paid my $15 for a burger, drink, and fries. Definitely a steep price, but I had high hopes. There were 20 orders in front of us, so we had to wait about 20-30 minutes for our orders to be ready. My order came in a large takeout bag (felt pretty wasteful). Half my fries had been dumped right into the bag, so I had to dig down to uncover my burger. The burger was mediocre. The fries were subpar and soggy. Definitely didn't match the price. Free refills and free peanuts are perhaps the upsides to this place, though the free peanuts do mean the tables and floors get messed up pretty quickly. The washrooms are weird - the mirror was tilted so I could only see my pants. The air conditioning is cranked up way too high - I got cold and so did my food. The tables are crammed so close together that people were having trouble sitting at them. There are sit-down, waiter service restaurants nearby which offer restaurant quality burgers and sides for the same or cheaper price as Five Guys, and without the 30+ minute wait we encountered or the cheap, frantic, uncomfortable atmosphere. Tasty burger, good fries, great peanuts... But their service (well, staff) needs help. Having had the fries a second time, let me say: they're real potatoes! Not only that, but they give a second helping into the bag. The cajun ones are ok -- but the plain ones are some of the best I've had. My primary concern is with the staff. They seemed apprehensive about calling the numbers when the order was "up", and at the same time, were conducting personal tours of the back kitchen space for their friends who hadn't even bothered to dine there this evening. Given the choice, I'd head over to the Five Guys in the Currents at Windermere -- their staff is more professional, not to mention a little bit faster at preparing the meals. Not cheap, but your paying for quality ingredients despite it looking like something you'd get from an outdoor stand at a farmers market (complete with foil paper wrapping). Five Guys serves the best fast food burger I can order in Edmonton. And it appears that service has improved tremendously since it first opened in 2012. This location is always fully staffed, and the service is prompt. My only complaint is that they salt the fries a bit too much. And if you aren't feeling like Joey Chestnutt, I'd recommend ordering a Jr. Cheeseburger rather than a full cheeseburger. A Junior patty is nearly 1/4 pound, which means that a full cheeseburger nearly contains 1/2 pound of meat. read more

"Little" burgers have one patty instead of two. I got a little bacon cheeseburger and requested to have it lettuce wrapped. The Cajun fries were pretty good, but they weren't crispy enough. We went here at the weekend to try the food. It was very busy but there were TONS of staff - so we thought we would be served pretty quickly, we were wrong! After placing our order we waited 15 minutes for our food to be ready - if im ordering fast food I expect FAST food! I also didnt like how all the food was served in a take out bag - no trays, no plates, which meant that when you sit down to eat you have to put a napkin down to eat your food off! The burgers are wrapped in tin foil too which doesn't hold very well so you end up with alot of spillage! The fries really weren't very good, however the burger was the best ive ever had! And dont be fooled by the name "little cheeseburger" - it is BIG! Drinks have free refils too - which is good since I finished most of mine in the 15 minutes I spent waiting for food. They had free peanuts too while you wait - but they were open and accessable to everyone walking by - I really dont like my food to have been handled by more people than neccessary. Many good things about 5 guys and some bad. Burgers are excellent and you can have them with any number of toppings you like. Fries are good and hot. Cut in the store if the bags of potatoes they have lying about are to be believed. Although the regular fries are too big next time I will just get the little order. Only real issue is the environment. The loud classic rock is a bit nerve jangling. The bright red and white decore is jarring. And it's cold I here. All this seems geared to get you out the door fast. I certainly don't want to stay here. So the ambiance makes it hard to enjoy the good food. And it is a bit expensive for a burger place. I'm a bit surprised that Five Guys has been getting such mixed reviews - so I guess your experience may vary from visit to visit. Suffice to say, my experience was not unpleasant. Service was prompt and friendly, the burgers did take a while - but as they're made fresh that was expected, and we were in no rush. The food was very tasty, and plentiful - nothing amazing... but, come on, this is a burger joint, not a gourmet experience. What were you expecting? I will say this: the burgers are good! They were sizable and flavourful, and the bacon was especially crispy and delicious. The selection of toppings was ample, and they certainly don't skimp. They're also very generous with their fries - VERY generous. They'll give you fries, then give you an extra scoop in the bag because... well, why the hell not? We had a group of three and two of us ordered a small fries. We very easily could have ordered one small fries and it would have been ample. I didn't notice the peanut thing everyone seems to be going on about - but if you do have a peanut allergy, I guess it's a safe bet to just stay away. Overall, I'd rate Five Guys as having an above average "fast-food" style burger, for those occasions when you have a little more time on your hands, and don't want something crummy. read more

Let me tell you a little story.... When Five Guys first opened up in this location, my then-husband and I were excited to try it out. We knew absolutely nothing about this chain. We walked up to the counter, ordered and sat down while we waited. All fairly normal. Until we looked around and noticed the MANY open boxes of peanuts all around the restaurant. He had a nut allergy - which luckily was not an airborne allergy. We took our food to go. It was tasty, but not worth it to go back. I was angry because I would have thought they would have big signs on the doors warning people of the allergens. Fast forward 6 or 7 years. I'm no longer married, and I'm not allergic to peanuts. So I decided to give them another shot. I did notice this time that there are signs on the doors warning those with allergies to stay away - but I don't think I would have seen it if I hadn't been looking for it. Anyway.... onto the reasons for 4 stars. The food is delicious. They keep things really simple. No fancy sides, no crazy toppings. Just burgers and fries (and CAJUN fries!). I went with the smaller burger - which is only considered small because it has one patty instead of two. It was juicy and flavourful. The toppings were fresh. And the fries were great! That 30 minutes was terrible, given the loud rock music and everyone (customers & employees), having to yell over the noise. The time I spent waiting for my food was spent watching the kitchen crew. Of the five guys, only one worked consistently. Given the demand and wait time for the food, they could have & should have worked more efficiently in producing the food. Food: Burger was average to below average. The only thing remarkable about it was that one of the patties was in two pieces, and one of them fell out of the burger. Fries were very greasy and salty. If the oil was let to drain, and much less salt was put on, then they might have been tasted. Self-aggrandizing newspaper articles and advertisements posted on the walls try to social engineer the customers into thinking that the restaurant is great. These guys have amazing burgers. I'd actually go so far as to say that they have the best burgers in Edmonton -- no easy feat for a chain restaurant. And the massive portions of fries are none too shabby. They actually pour an extra scoop of fries directly into the bag. My wife and I ordered large fries, with the intention to share. Once they added the extra serving to the bag we actually couldn't finish them! A small would probably be good enough for two people, given the "bonus scoop." The fries, unfortunately, aren't actually that good. If the fries were better, Five Guys would get five stars. But they were a bit limp and a tad too salty. So I've been anticipating this for awhile. As a self titled burger aficionado I had to get my burger fix from five guys. So I ordered me a bacon cheese burger with grilled onions and mushrooms, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, relish and mustard. I was definitely not disappointed in the burger. However the fries really aren't that great in my opinion, and at the time the coca cola needed to be changed as it had a pretty watered down taste to it. Like I said the burger was pretty good, but for the $17 price I think I could've gone somewhere that would've been better it really isn't worth the $17 it cost me in my opinion. I don't know what the big deal is with burger chains and saying that they have the 'best burger' in the world. It was fresh and somewhat like Subway where I could choose what I wanted on my burger, but I've had better. I really enjoyed that they had boxes and lose free peanuts though. Very uniqe and a great salty alternative to fries. They also had free refills on drinks as well. The food was somewhat fast - for a fresh burger. There was lots of parking as well. I don't know if I would go back - lots of other burgers places to still try. read more

So this was my first time here and since I'm not a burger fan, my expectations were low. The burgers were great, so many options and the fries were good too. I love the peanuts though! Just go up to the huge crate and take as many as you want. We thought it was so much fun and you dump the shells on the ground and make a big fun mess. Towards the end of our meal, we saw the girl coming around with the broom to clean up. Oops, were we not supposed to dump peanut shells on the floor? I felt like an ass after, so I'll be sure to watch the other people next time. read more

Pricey burger, but the toppings choices are great for customization. The fries were very good. Found the whole place a little messy with all the peanut shells. For the price, I would like to sit at a clean table and not have to pump my ketchup. read more

You know what you are getting when you go into a 5 Guys - and this location is pretty much right on target. Good burgers - above fast food but below "sit down". Good fries - and LOTS of them. Clean tables and floors - hats off the the kids running around, constantly doing upkeep. Fast service - depending on how busy they are. If you enjoy 5 Guys, this location will meet your expectations. read more

Amazing fries made from potatoes right in the restaurant! Why would you ever eat frozen factory made fries again? No freezers in the restaurant, fresh beef! I continue to search, but I have not found a better burger anywhere else. Only complaint is the ambience. They need to install some acoustic panels, the noise is unpleasant. Btw, you can get a grilled cheese sandwich if meat isn't in your diet. read more
