On a trip to the city for doc appointment we left home early and finished after 12 pm. With no breakfast we were hungry heading out of town, and donairs popped into my head. With covid, we needed something to eat in the car. Yelped donair because it is something we both agree on with out comprise. Jumbo didn't disappoint. Fresh ingredients with piles of tender tasty meat, sauce to die for, and the pita stood up to the task. I was unable to go in but my wife came out remarking how friendly the guy was and what impressed her, before she ordered, he gave her a taste of the meat. We decided to check out and offer some support to local Jumbo Donair after we heard about the owner being kind to lesser fortunate man earlier in the week. The story of the owner's kindness made the news about how he gave a man a meal for free because he was hungry went viral and Edmontonians have been making a point to go down to this business to show their appreciation. We were just down the street so we decided to check the place out. Landon picked our order up and TV crews were still there. We ordered a large donair that Landon said was the best donair he ever had! I had a chicken hot dog, which honestly wasn't the best hot dog of life. To our delight, the lovely owner gave us a free poutine which was SO GOOEY AND FULL OF GRAVY AND DELICIOUS. Jumbo Donair is a place that supports Edmontonians and offers support to those in need. Very satisfied! Best Donair I've had...in a while. I won't go so far as to call them "the best". There are just too many shops and too many taste buds to test it. Regardless... I am really impressed. Increadibly personable and friendly staff. Even offered me a sample of the beef while I waited. Beef is anong the best I have tried. Well seasoned and juicy! Veggies is where they really shine. My "standard" topping are lettuce, onion & tomato...and yeah...they have these. But they also have some more, interesting options. I had to try the spiced onions with parsley and the tomato & cucumber mix. Fantastic change of pace! Pita was fresh and soft. Sweet sauce was...good. I was a little disappointed in the sauce. It certainly wasn't bad...it just wasn't as good others I have had. Certainly not a deal breaker! Great value. I had a large donair and it was actually more than enough. At ~$9.50...I was "stuffed". In the event that you have a bigger stomach than me...they still have the Jumbo size to ensure you leave full! Another milestone they acomplished was my need to wash my hands after my meal! Call me crazy...lol...or a slob...but rarely have I found a genuinely satisfying donair that I can walk away from with clean hands! All in all...I am very happy that I had the chance to scratch Jumbo Donair off my list as I continue my quest to sample every donair E-town has to offer. Yumbo Donair! We had the beef donair and chicken shwarma and both were very satisfying. The meat was nicely seasoned and the toppings were fresh and diverse. I especially like those florescent pink pickle things. What are those? They're so salty and crunchy! The prices are very reasonable and so we'll definitely be back. Maybe to try their falafel.They also have a few baked items that you can take home. All of which were fresh and looked delicious! I think we were served by the restaurant owner. He was a really friendly guy who greeted us with a big smile. Another business that obviously takes pride in their food and service. My only complaint... napkins were not easily accessible at the tables. We had to ask at the counter for extras and like any good donair, these babies were a bit messy. read more

Service from donair guy very subpar. I was standing by the cash till needing some service (specifically from the Mercado's Bakery guy, who was in the back). After he (the donair guy) finished with his existing customer, he ignored me (now the only customer in the store) and just stared out to the front window, while I stood there right in front of him wondering WTF is he not acknowledging me. This place is amazing! I don't normally leave reviews but this time I had to. Honestly the tastiest donair I've ever had in town and I've had many. The portions are generous and the meat is flavourful. Wasn't sure what to get between beef or chicken so I decided to get a mix donair. Best choice I made.. every bite was juicy and veggies were insanely fresh. Workers are very welcoming they gave me a sample to taste of the meat without even asking. So I am working nightshift and decided I would like a Donair. The neighbourhood that I work in is not familiar to me. So I came on yelp to find a good Donair place near my shop. Well #1 hit was Jumbo Donair. I'm so glad people rated this place. It definitely deserves the 5 stars it has. Very friendly when you first walk in. Very clean and I have to say this is now my go to for Donair in the city!!! Wow, it is the absolute best Donair I've had in Edmonton. The selection of veggies and toppings are plentiful and fresh. If you've never tried pickled turnips (I have many times and keep a jar in my fridge lol) on your Donair do yourself a favour and giive'em a go. I had the jumbo Donair with cheese, onions/ green onion mix, pickles, pickled turnips and the mixed tomatoes. I cannot remember what it's called. Not only are the donairs here amazing, but the owners and staff are SO friendly and seem genuinely happy to serve you. There are a lot more variety in the toppings here, they serve banana peppers to pickled turnip! The owner is very proud of his pickled turnip and they're pretty yummy! We usually pick up two donairs and a poutine to share among us, and we are SO full after. The meat is not your typical donair meat. The owner is also super proud of how tender and flavourful the meat is! It definitely is different and a lot softer. It's also a lot less salty than other places. And even after the guy there gives us little baggies of extra toppings incase we decide we need more toppings - even though he literally packs the donair with what you want. How nice!! I actually think that I eat more donairs by living close to this place... going there is such a pick me up because the staff are so nice it instantly puts you in a good mood. read more

I will join the chorus. This places isn't just good. This may well be the very best donair shop in Edmonton. I have been on the hunt for quality, well-priced donairs for some time. While doings so I've been holding off on posting reviews as I want to make sure that I'm not overrating one when the next best donair is around the corner. I think it's time to start the reviews, now that I've tasted Jumbo Donair. The prices are fair when looking at the menu, similar to other restaurants, but turns out the prices are absolutely a steal when you taste the food. After finishing my regular beef donair with sweet sauce and all the toppings I found myself scouring the packaging to see if I missed a piece of beef. I seriously contemplated drinking the left over sauce. It was that good. The array of toppings is immense and the flavour with each one of them combined together, at least for my palate, was exquisite. The chicken looked tantalizing. I am a beef fan but this is the first place I have seen where the chicken actually looks moist. Maybe next time because there will be a next time. We came here for dinner last night and we really enjoyed our food. The customer service was good and the dining area was very clean I had a large beef salad and was able to choose whatever vegetables I wanted in it. My husband had the donair and fries. The prices are very reasonable. This is now one of our favorite places for food and we will return in the future. read more

We're from New Brunswick and found our new home here at Jumbo Donair. We've never experienced such warm familiar service at a restaurant. We feel like family every time we go and my kids especially love the staff. Food is delicious, too. Huge portions, great tasting meat, and their Halifax style sweet sauce not only tastes great but is a perfect consistency--not always the case eating donairs out West. Highly recommended! read more

I've been to most Donair shops in the SE of Edmonton and this is hands down the best. Owner and staff are friendly and talkative. Toppings are great and fresh with an amazing selection. Last time, I have given a sandwich that is not meant to be ordered, it was my mistake that I hadn't given the correct name, even though, they insisted on making me another one and gave me the wrong order for free. Just picked up a Regular Cheese Donair with dill sauce and a Jumbo cheese Donair with tzizeki sauce. The server gave me a piece of fresh cut meat right off the roast, to taste, yummy. The donair itself is more of a three-star production prior to being offered a wide range of toppings, some very friendly service, and a clean dining room. Those three things bump the donair offered by Jumbo Donairs up one more star to a four-star experience. The men's toilet needs a great deal of love and attention, but I'd imagine that the owner of Jumbo Donairs or his landlord will get around to sorting that out. This guy will do alright in this location, I'd imagine, provided the rent isn't too high. Recommended. read more

I used to go to Charles smart donair on white it was the best around at the time. but they closed down. been checkin out other places and am in love again!! Jumbo Donair was very fast and what the other reviews are true. I took a chance and ordered a regular Donair. one size up from regular. my mouth wants to go back for more but am full right now. place was clean and bright and friendly service. even got a sample of the meat as she prepared it. omg was it good!! Huge assortment of toppings to choose from. fresh and flavourful. the meat filled the pita and the toppings were overflowing it. I had not finished it and was ready for more but alas I was too full for more. I shall be back!! the meat was soft and tender and flavourful. just melted in my mouth. Finally a place that cares about quality and flavour and taste while keeping costs down. you want to talk about the best it rivals Vancouver too!!
