Unfortunately, this is a review with more cons than pros. But, the good news first. The staff was friendly, and helpful for explaining the menu. All the kids loved the free peanuts while they were waiting for their food, and were very impressed by the touch-screen soda fountain's extensive selection. The burgers were so-so, and the fries were dark, but soggy and greasy...we ended up throwing most of them away. It was also on the expensive side. For burgers, small fries, and small drinks the bill came to $80+ after tax for a family of six. The outdoor seating was a little sketchy, but not necessarily unpleasant. I have mixed emotions about Five Guys. I do like that there is a selection of toppings... and it doesn't matter how many of them you want; the price is the price. That is honestly what my wife loves most about this place. She can get jalapenos on her burger. One thing that gets me about the burger is that it doesn't matter how fresh it is... its like they put the cheese on at the last minute. I don't know about you, but I like my cheese melty and gooey. There is nothing worse than cold cheese on your burger. It just gives it a raw taste. And this isn't something that happens EVERY time... but I guess that's my real point. There doesn't appear to be a level of consistency. The burgers are good, I don't think anyone would refute that. It's always good... but it's not always the same. Next is the fries. I don't really get the "your fries are from _____ today" shtick... but hey, I guess that's there thing. I literally have never tasted a difference in their fries in ANY of my visits... so I can't really say that where the potatoes actually come from is making any difference whatsoever. This location in particular seems to only hire teenage kids who spend their downtime huddled in a circle behind the counter talking about who knows what. If your mom was like mine growing up... the last thing that should ever come out of your mouth is, "there's nothing to do..." Because that was a sure fire way to get you a few hours worth of chores. Every job has down time... its inevitable. But when the whole staff of children spends that down time chit-chatting instead of finding ways to be productive, it comes as no surprise that I was one of 5 people in the entire place at 4pm. Ordering... I order a Bacon Cheeseburger. The cashier asks, "single or double". Now, considering I didn't say, "little bacon cheeseburger" which means single... one should presume that I mean double. I assume this is a question that is posed every single order. When you add up all the seconds that it takes to address this possible confusion... that is hours of wasted time throughout the year. Again... I can see why this place is almost always empty when I DO come here to eat... it is hemorrhaging efficiency at an alarming rate. When was the last time you walked into an IN-N-OUT and saw anyone on the staff with enough time to stand around and have a conversation? There is a reason why every location you know of is packed all day, every day. Consistency. Consistency in product and service. It doesn't matter which location I go to... my burger tastes exactly the same. every. single. time. Now, I'm not trying to start a "which is better" debate. Because quite frankly, they are two completely different burgers in my opinion. I'm simply trying to illustrate that food will only take you so far... you've got to have the service to back it up. I'm willing to eat mediocre food with outstanding service... but I will give up on a business with great food if the service is weak. read more

I just had to throw a review in to counteract some of these negative reviews. Heck, I even see a good review with two stars. Seriously? How do you write a good review then give two stars? I've eaten here a number of times. I'm a big In N Out fan and I also enjoy Farmer's Boys burgers. These are very good burgers, I think. They are definitely a step above the huge fast food chains. Usually I get the burgers with the works on them, plus jalapeños. The regular sized burger is huge! I think I could really be satisfied with the small burger but they are awfully tasty so I can't help but get the big one. I don't know why people don't, like them. I have had good experiences. The restaurant is clean, you can get free peanuts and the touchscreen soda drink dispensers are fun. Imagine a flavor of Coke. You can get that! Service has been good. Neither super fast or slow. They are cooking the burgers when you order them, after all. The fries are good, too. They are seasoned/spicy fries. The regular order could probably be shared by two people, easily. These are not as good as In N Out, in my opinion. They can rival Farmer's Boys, though. Some have complained about the cost. I don't think they are expensive for what they serve. You're getting your burger made on the spot to order. If you want a dollar menu, head over to street to Jack in the Box! It might be more expensive than In N Out, but not by a lot. So, I think this is a good place to eat. It's not amazing, but it's not nearly as bad as some of these reviews suggest. I'll eat here again. read more

First time at a Five Guys. I'm a native Californian and a die hard In N Out fan so I was always reluctant to try this place and now that I have I can say with out any reservation that In N Out is still by far the best burger place anywhere. The staff was nice and it was cool to be able to look into the kitchen but I am not really a fan of choosing all my toppings or needing a block of instruction to order. The meat was really good, but my cheese wasn't very melty and I didnt care for the chopped onions. Also, what's with no combos? A little pricy if you ask me. The Soda machine was the best part which is a plus but really shouldn't the food be the star? Final two cents...why all the posters all over the walls showing all they're high praise...if they were really that good, would they need to toot their own horn? Let me start by saying that I'm not a huge fan of Five Guys. Don't get me wrong, I like their burgers, I guess I just don't get all the hype about them. It's like the whole world finally bit into what a burger is supposed to taste like and that bite just so happened to be a Five Guys burger so now I have to hear about how great they are. Sorry, born and raised in California. In-N-Out has been doing it right for over 60 years. Anyway, like I said, good burgers, and this Five Guys is just as good as all the rest. The customer service was VERY friendly here and the woman taking my order even offered her suggestion on building a good burger when she noticed me "hmmmm" at the menu for a bit. The soda machine is pretty dang cool. The possibilities/combination of drinks are endless. What makes this place REALLY cool is that they have TWO soda machines, so you're never stuck behind someone who doesn't know how to use this dang technology or, worse, someone who spends too much time thinking about what they want to drink. This is also probably the cleanest Five Guys I have ever been to. Those peanut shells always end up littering the floor but at this location, despite me stopping in just after lunch hour, was almost peanut shell free. We often enjoy this Five Guys but tonight was different. The food was great as usual, the tiny girl cashier was great too. By the way her name was not Ivan, but that was the name on our reciept as the cashier. The place was a mess!!! Every table was dirty, torn brown paper bag on the floor. BOTH ketchup dispensers were completely empty with trash and spilled soda all over the counter. I would understand if the place was packed, but we were 1 of 3 groups of people eating inside. Usually someone is cleaning tables and sweeping the floors but this time no one came from the back to clean up the dining area. These grill guys know what they are doing and how to cook a juicy burger. Just tried Five Guys and was impressed w/the size of the patty.....we all liked how you can personally add whatever you want to the burger and they have a nice selection of condiments. I see a lot of reviews comparing it to In N Out.....I think that is a unfair comparison as they are nothing alike.....nothing!!!!! dont get me wrong I do love me a double double on occasion.......but this place is very good too......just depends what type of burger your craving......... Five Guys - My little guy loves Five Guys - Burgers Near Me - Fontana, California

Ordered online on 9/23 at around 9:40, paid and waited 20 mins, 10 mins after 10PM. There were 5 employees there and not one bothered to check or ask about the web order until closing time. Once they bothered to check, one of the guys then said they don't have fries anymore (complete lie) and that he will just issue a refund. The burger turned out to be READY 5 mins in of my waiting time but the employees just went on their merry way and didn't check or call out the order DESPITE THAT I PAID. TERRIBLE SERVICE. No consideration for the customer, no sorry, no offer of a discount nothing. They didn't care. Keep that in mind the next time you walk in. Pray, hope that the person taking your order or the person cooking has a brain cell to think to ask or call out your order. Other Five guys are ok such as the one in San Bernardino, I go there for lunch almost every day. Side Note: The employees at the summit location were too busy enjoying their beers apparently, because i saw one employee walk out with, what appeared to be 2 beer bottles. read more

I debated to rate and post a review or not, and I decided that others may benefit from it; the company, the management, and customers. As we looked at a place to get out of the house, eat and head back, we elected to go to Five Guys. The positive first, the employees made sure everyone has a mask. However, the place floor and tables were dirty (far from being sanitized). No one was assigned to clean the tables. The employee filling up soda had to wait for downtime to "clean the tables" with no product or towels to use for cleaning only a few napkins. The place is understaffed to be open during this time. Employees need training in sanitation and better customer service. Price to service ratio is close to Zero. read more

I had the best service here tonight! I made a mistake with my order and let them know before they cooked it and they upgraded both of my burgers at no cost for my own mistake. They gave us extra seasoning for the fries, they gave us extra peppers because they said some rolled off while they were cooking, and the food came out relatively quickly despite my ordering mistake. When I ate this deliciousness it Actually reminded me of the freshness In n out used to have back in the day. In n out taste good currently but there burger meat IMO isn't as tasteful as it used to be, something changed about 10+ years ago.... And by the time you get your in n out burger its only fairly warm. My 5guys burger was hot off the grill today, cheese melty, perfect amount of condiments and requested toppings ... Stopped in on Friday afternoon. It was not dinner time yet so there were some only 2 or 3 people in the dinning room. The dinning room was clean, a few tables needed wiped down but not a big deal. There were many clean tables to choose from. The bathrooms were clean. I ordered a single burger with mayo but got mustard too. My Dad ordered a double burger and my son got a hot dog. The large fry was big enough for all 3 of us. My only complaint was the music. It was to loud. I think that is why my burger was wrong. Yup, this is a legit burger! I've heard all about Five Guys for the last couple of years but it just never really caught my attention. Finally, I decided to give it a try and see what all the fuss was about. I took my wife and kids and upon entering you get that awesome smell of burgers cooking. The menu is really simple and straight to the point. You pick your meat, pick your toppings and that it. I went with a double cheeseburger, all the way (minus mushroom and onions). It didn't take long to get our food and honestly I couldn't wait to bite into it. I can safely say that it did not disappoint one bit. To be perfectly honest it exceeded my expectations. The meat is cooked to perfection, the lettuce tomato and pickles tasted super fresh, and the cheese was just melting which is how I like it. My wife and kids loved their burgers and so did I. Went this evening for 3 burgers, terrible service, didn't pay attention to order.... I watched them make it and had to tell the guy it was wrong! He didn't make fries till our burgers were done.
