Stopped here on Sunday night at 8:30 pm thought I'd give myself a treat after driving all day. I ordered a cheese burger, medium fry and water.in the past I've enjoyed five guys and thought there burgers were hand made and way above average. Well not anymore, my burger which was nothing special, not as good as a Wendy's burger, of which I haven't had for many years. The fries were just ok and the peanuts they were soft, not as good as the ones they sell at Menards. all in all it wasn't worth the 18$ plus change. I was also told they are closing in 9 minutes so I guess I had 9 minutes to finish my meal and leave. I might also add the entire floor had some kind of grease on it that made my shoes extra slippery. Not good. read more

I haven't visited this location in some time, but during my last visit, it was pleasantly quiet with very few customers--an atmosphere I truly appreciated. When my grandfather asked the cashier a question, she didn't have the answer immediately but took the initiative to consult a staff member in the back. While I felt the process took slightly longer than necessary, it wasn't a major issue. The food, as always, was excellent and made the visit worthwhile. read more

Wow. I know they have good burgers and fries, but they are to rich for my blood. Been a long time since I went there so I thought I would splurge recently and stopped by the store on rangeline in Joplin. The place was literally empty and it was about 1230pm. There are always local, one off great burger places in most towns. Finding a chain that delivers that home-style high quality burger is rarer. We all know about the free peanuts and the Coke machines with all the flavors (which I never like as all the drinks seem to blend together and none of them taste great). But they also have the best fries and are hugely generous that my wife and I always split an order. They have more options you to dress your burger than nearly anyone and then they do the extra little things like having Malt vinegar for the fries or grilling the onions if you like it without charging extra. Let me write about this visit on Sat. the 29th. Its the middle of the COVID-19 scare and everything is on lockdown or curbside service or closing. The owners were the only people working, a husband and wife team we think. They let all their other employees go home. You were allowed to come inside to order then they would bring your food to your car window. Despite working along, they had great attitude, worked fast and served us with professionalism. I want to praise them for sending their team home but deciding to keep working themselves for us and to keep income coming in to protect their business os it can be there when this is all over. My husband wanted a "good hot dog" so we tried Five Guys. First, the 1/4 lb hot dogs (like Costco or Sam's) start at $6.99 and go up. We ordered a hot dog, a bacon dog, and 1 chocolate shake. The bill was $22+ before a tip. Are you kidding? The condiments were too heavy (I wish we could have dressed them.) They soaked the buns, which then fell apart. The hot dogs were tough to bite through. The bacon was BLACK and cold. It was like charcoal. They must have taken previously cooked bacon and reheated it. I should have taken a picture. After shopping out of town at Joplin's Academy sports, my brother and I decided to try your local Five Guys out. We parked and walked up- everything was very clean and tidy. The little sign on the wall before our order told us where our potato's came from locally-ish (fist-pump)... I love it when a restaurants keep up their charts, especially the ones visible to us. The employees were very helpful and played a big part of our order-taking as my brother had a few questions. They know what they were talking about and proved that fact as we got our order. There we were looking at our locally grown potatoes cut up into French fries. They were cut up and cooked to order they came out golden brown, and the taste of the potato was outstanding. The burgers are also cooked to perfection, the beef they used was excellent for our order! We will definitely be back to visit. Y'all made Monday's visit great! Thanks! read more

My wife and I ate here a number of times, but our last visit we ordered a lettuce wrap, and we both got sick that day and the next. To make things worse I wrote to five guys and they didn't respond. I was honestly surprised to be so disappointed with this restaurant after I had heard so many great recommendations. But the food was subpar at best. My fries were soft and unmixed (some super salty bites and some bland bites), my burger was DRENCHED in mayo, and the cashier was clearly trying to rush my order so she could go home (even openly asking if she could clock off as soon as she finished taking my order). What is not to love about a burger, cooked with whatever toppings you'd like for no extra charge. Just beware...a small burger is one patty and a regular is a double patty...I can't ever finish a double! A regular fry will feed 3 people and a large will easily feed 5 people! Horrible service. Super slow. I waited for 17 mins for cheeseburger. I finally went to ask management where my burger was after my number was skipped. They had no idea what had happened. I was given the nothing we can do about it attitude. I told them I didn't have time to wait for another burger to be made. They then told me goodbye. No offer of my money back. This establishment just simply took my $10.50 for a burger and coke and I have nothing. This is not the first time I've come here and had slow service. Be careful if you decide to come here. Went by for lunch at 11! The place was empty except for the help. Asked for my burger to be cooked medium and was told they HAVE TO cook them well done. I asked for them to NOT mash all the juice out because the last couple times I came in, the burgers were so dry. They told me all their burgers are juicy. No! They may be suppose to be that way, but they aren't. I asked again to no mash out all the juices. I was told we will do the best we can. What does that even mean? This place has gone down hill. Had to retract previous 4* review. Placed order online. On arrival was told they did not have buns and had made an alternative arrangement. I refused stating I wanted a refund. Was pushed 5 more times to take the alternative. I insisted on a refund. They said ok but then continued to ignore my request for a few minutes, instead preparing other orders and taking new orders from others. Finally upon issuing refund, employee kept pushing buttons on the register in what seemed to be 2 minutes. I understand when stock is out, but you need to deliver superior customer service upon those failures. Their stock failure was exacerbated by a customer service failure. read more
