Shockingly this was my first time at this location even though it's just a few miles from home. Decided to get a quick lunch, although there was line out the door around 1:30 and it took at least 10 minutes to get our food. I got a bacon cheese burger with mayo and a lettuce wrap instead of a bun (recently hopped on the keto train), it was as expected- pretty good but nothing crazy special. My husband ordered a bacon burger (no cheese), with onions, mayo, and lettuce "bun", although he received a double bacon cheeseburger. Not sure how that happened as we were pretty specific- oh well. Love that they have peanuts to snack in, helped us to aid our salty craving since we cant have fries. Workers were decently friendly but seemed as though they couldn't keep up with the orders along with cleaning dirty tables. All in all... It's fast food. read more

First time here. Customer service was great at the register. She was super friendly. Burgers where very good. Little on the drippy side but sure beat a dry burger. I have to say, the burger didn't quite live up to the hype. I love burgers...I mean I REALLY love burgers (my unborn child's middle name will probably be "Burger"). I've definitely had better. Maybe this was just a one-time experience but the place was extremely crammed (bad layout) with people tripping over each other and my burger tasted no better than a burger from Champps - the cheese was good though. Couple of additional things - the wait time was a little crazy with people lined up in the doorway and ordering was a little confusing with the cashier telling me twice that I'm ordering incorrectly (weird). In my opinion, the fries are not worth it (pass on those). So, overall it wasn't a bad place and this isn't a "write-off" but I'll probably wait until summer time to go again so I can sit outside and have some breathing room - hopefully it won't be as busy. I don't get it. A wrinkled up ho hum bun containing a couple of slices of tomato, lettuce, two tiny green pepper slices, grilled onions and a three paltry specks of mushroom for three dollars? This you call a "veggie sandwich?????" I could go to my local grocery store, buy a bag of mediocre white hamburger buns, sit on them to flatten and wrinkle them and then pull leftover, sad looking old veggies from my refrigerator, slap 'em together and still make a better veggie sandwich than the Five Guys veggie sandwich offering. And the cost for my homemade model would be 25 cents--not three dollars. After seeing the veggie sandwich listed on the menu board I asked the order taker if the veggie sandwich was loaded with vegetables. He said, "Yes!" It's chock-ful! It's huge!" "Good," I thought, since that was the only non-meat option at this place. Seriously--there is nothing else (except French Fries) that a non-meat eater can eat at this joint. Well, the cashier lied. The "Veggie Sandwich" was NOT chock-ful of veggies. In fact, it was downright pitiful. Others in my party had hamburgers (with flattened, wrinkled ho hum buns) and not one of them was impressed with their burger. The only thing worthy of positive mention, flavor-wise, were the hand-cut French Fries, and even they were served up cold and soggy. Seems that Five Guys thinks it's really hip and cool to just dump the fries on top of the foil wrapped sandwiches inside a big brown paper sack. Newsflash--it's not hip--it's sloppy and it makes the fries cold and soggy and gets french fry grease all over everything. Note: Offering up self-serve paper boats of peanuts in the shell doesn't make the "real food" we came for taste any better, nor does it make us feel better about the money we handed over. Mediocre food, some of the worst, most inefficient service that I have ever witnessed. Just about anywhere else is a better choice.

This place is hit or miss. The food tastes amazing, but the customer service depends on who is working. Most of them are great and friendly, but other days they ignore you, and I had one cashier who answered the phone when I got up there. I understand needing to answer the phone, but he didn't smile or nod to acknowledge he saw me, and didn't politely apologize for being on the phone. I would still recommend it, but I would also say go at night. The closing shift is the best team of coworkers they've got in my opinion. They're the ones who seem to be happy all the time. read more

I am addicted to 5 Guys fries. I'm afraid to count how many times I've been to this Oakdale location for a quick lunch when I'm starving. So let's just say I am qualified to state that the staff are always friendly and conscientious at this location. Always. Food quality is very consistent. They will make your burger in a bowl, bun free, and will ask you if it is an allergy so they know if they need to be more careful with it. I appreciate selecting the exact burger toppings I'm in the mood for...and their hot sauce is good! It's relaxing to eat outside on their back patio by the fountain when weather permits. read more

Wow. This is my first review. This is the first time I strongly disagreed enough with the existing reviews to spend the time. 5 guys was a real disapointment. First off the prices are a bit steep in my opinion for a fast food burger. The burger was passable, somehow greasy but yet dry at the same time. The fries were a big disappontment for me. Very soggy and greasy. My brother was with me so I got to try the regular and the cajun. Neither were good and the cajun were so heavily covered in spice that they were virtually inedible. One of the worst $25 I've spent to be honest. Maybe just a bad day for them but I doubt I will give them another try. read more

Hands down the dirtiest restaurant I've been to in a long time. It was about 3 in the afternoon. Busy place but almost and shouldn't eaten here. The tables that we're open and there we're about 6 never had been cleaned and we saw no one cleaning them the entire meal. The small garbage was so full I had to force my refuge in. Also was not offered or informed of the peanuts and was one of the few things not on the floor like other Five Guys we have been to. First time here, heard it was the 'east coast' version of In-N-Out. Burger come plain, tons of toppings to chose and all are free. I got the classics. Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Lettuce and Mayo. I had heard that Five Guys was great from coworkers. Right when I walked in the place was filthy, all the trash cans were flowing over and most of the tables were not cleaned off. This place felt like a modern faster version of the 'famous' lions tap. It's a simple menu that doesn't focus on doing many things. They focus on doing a few things very well. And they do it very well. The burger was great. I did the the regular (which is huge). I also had a small/regular side of fries. This is no doubt enough fries for two or three. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant in the customer area is not too good. I have to say that we absolutley loved Five Guys. I was a bit nervous when I saw the line and saw that there didn't seem to be a ton of tables. I was thinking it would either take forever or we wouldn't find a spot to sit. The line went fast and the staff knew how to deal with lots of people. They also were good at keeping the tables cleaned as people left. Well I thought the burger was absolutely delicious! One of the best I have ever had! The small size burger was plenty big for me. My seven year old who is normally a very picky eater devoured her burger in no time. We shared a large fry between two adults and a child and still had some leftover. The burger was fine, but any burger specialty restaurant worth its salt would cook your burger to the patrons liking. Not this place. Big sign says all burgers cooked well done. If I could rate into the negative numbers I would, as this was hands down the worst attempted dining experience since the invention of restaurants. On the 4th of July, my wife and I decided to finally try 5 Guys as we have heard many good things about their food. We went to the location and there was zero customers in the store and 6 employees "working." My wife is allergic to gluten so she asked if they had gluten free buns and the young man behind the counter said I don't know. She then asked him to please ask a colleague and his answer was we can wrap it in lettuce for you, still not answering her question. Fine, so she proceeded to order a bacon cheeseburger with no bun and we then asked if the medium fried would be large enough to share, again he didn't know, which is okay, he doesn't know our how much we eat, so I said, a medium would be fine. I was just about to start ordering my burger when the phone rang and apparently the other 5 employees working couldn't be bothered to answer it so the young man who was waiting on us proceeds to answer the call while his co-workers were just hanging out having fun doing nothing. My wife looked at me and said, "should we just leave?" I was in agreement as the store was not being run by anyone, had no customers, and every table in the place was filthy. If the only place in the world you could get food was the 5 Guys in Oakdale, I would opt to starve then subject myself to such a joke of a restaurant. Also, I assume the staff had no clue that they did anything wrong, which points to a larger training issue that they need to address or they will be out of business. I ordered the Cheese Veggie Sandwich with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes with the regular-sized fries. The sandwich was very good and the fries are delicious. I have been here two times so far. The first time was a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. I had to get my order to go because there was nowhere open to sit and eat it there. Great burgers, you can make them how you want with as many toppings as you want. Be prepared to wait a few minute though, these aren't your typical fast food burgers. They're made to order. The burgers are a little greasy, but not even close to Smashburger's level of greasiness. The bags of peanuts everywhere kind of threw me off a little bit but I thought it was kind of cool just because it was so different. After I placed my order and got my food I had to find a spot in that cramped little restaurant and sit down. I took my burger out and right away noticed how much grease was leaking through the bag.
