It was incredibly filling and, as expected, very salty. It's definitely a nice treat every now and then and always hits the spot. DRINKS A variety of sweet and non-sweetened teas, sodas (i.e. Coca-Cola, diet Coke, etc.) are available for purchase. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly, and orders are pumped up quickly. AMBIANCE Ample seating is available inside the store. It was also very clean and tidy.

Since I was last here, they added in self-ordering kiosks, which would theoretically improve ordering speed, except that they did so at the cost of not taking orders at the counter. Understandably, this was to help out the large flood of Doordash pickups coming through, but it was slower as most people take a lot longer to choose when self-ordering. Food came out fast, and was delicious! I ordered the Sandwich Combo, and it came out hot and fresh. Fries here are literally addictive-- I don't know why but I just keep eating and then eat my friends' fries too. Overall this location is well-decorate and kept clean. However, it's a lot more chaotic here with all the Doordash pickups coming through. I'd have retreated to the side of the restaurant to have a little reprieve from all the folks coming in and out. But overall, still a great place to eat!

I had a hankering for chicken and waffles today and I could've gone to a number of restaurants in…read morethe area for this, but today I decided to try my one go-to place for the best chicken sandwiches in town: Hangry Joe's. I've seen the chicken and waffles on their menu many times and was always hesitant on ordering it only because I didn't want to feel disappointment and possible regret for not ordering one of their well-known, delicious options of chicken sandwich (the Sando) or chicken fingers. I don't know why I was so afraid to order it other than thinking the waffle wouldn't be that good, but I was so very wrong. Their chicken and waffles are great! Let's start with the chicken... fried to perfection and slightly lathered in your choice of mild to spicy sauce, these chicken tenders are simply amazing... and huge. Bite into a chicken tender and juices shoot out of it. That's how juicy they are. The waffle (divided into quarters) was so good. Lightly crisped and dusted with powdered sugar on the outside and a beautiful soft texture inside, this is a great waffle. You get syrup for the waffle and your choice of sauce for the chicken. All for $12.95. So good! Other options include a Korean chicken nugget combo that includes steamed white rice and fries, chicken wraps, and wings. Service is pretty quick. I ordered to go ("ASAP - 10 mins") and the order was ready in 14, but please don't fault them for this. Once you taste the chicken, you will forgive them for any tardiness.

I finally tried Hangry Joe's on 20th St and now I'm wishing I hadn't waited so long. I was looking…read morefor something quick to eat for a quick lunch the other day and when I passed by, I decided to go in and give it a try. The colorful, cartoonish decor of the restaurant's interior put me off a little at first. The brightly colored, chicken-themed cartoons on the walls seemed to me like it was geared for kids. It is most certainly not. Hangry Joe's is made for chicken lovers. The choices on the menu were all tempting. Every dish on the menu features chicken as a comfort food, and I am all about it. I ordered the Chicken Sando, which was both huge and delicious. My pal got the chicken wings, which he said were the best he ever ate. (He specifically raved about the dipping sauce.) Now I want wings! There are five levels of heat for your chicken, from mild to smokin hot, and so everybody, even those afraid of heat, will find something to their liking on the menu. The service was good, and though the prices are a bit on the high side for fast food (we paid about $30 for two meals.), the amazing chicken and accompanying flavors make a trip here well worth it. In fact, in the two days since I tried Hangry's, three friends from NY who had tried it during their stay here over the weekend made an stop there before heading home to bring home some more of that chicken. Now that's good chicken!

I've come by a few times already since, but this morning it was for breakfast. Ordering is quick- there's like 8 self-ordering kiosks here, which is kind of ridiculous, but somehow they also have a ton of seating. We took the two large tables in the middle for a larger group. Definitely a lot of folks here that you'd expect to be here on a chilly morning. A bit of the usual city smell as a result, but halfway through, one of the employees walked by with some air freshener, which hit us hard at first, but ended up making the rest of our time a bit more enjoyable from an odor perspective. Food came out quickly, accurately, and deliciously! Although it's hard to mess up a sausage, egg McMuffin, it at least did not disappoint.

This time, I ordered delivery and particularly ordered the Huntrix meal deal. Yesterday on my walk home I saw Khan strike a woman with a closed fist on the back where the hood of her jacket was, then he grabbed the hood and dragged her back to the ordering window of his cart. She was smiling nervously and he was scarily serious. The fact that he punched her in the back made me want to point the situation out to police, but the woman he struck was big enough to take care of herself, and I try not to get involved if I don't know the story. I think she was trying to say no thanks to what she ordered after he had put everything on the grill. My experience with Khan involved no physical violence, but it wasn't much better. The side of his cart says something about hot dogs, so I assume he must have good hot dogs. I want a chili dog. I wait until there's a day where I'm craving a chili dog, it doesn't happen much.... The day arrives, I also happen to be in a hurry, honestly how long could a hot dog take? When I go to order he ignores me for just a minute too long and the chili dog tastes like cardboard. The bun was old and dryed out. The boiled hot dog was as skinny as my finger; it reminded me of the elementary school cafeteria. And, the chili was some sort of cheap meat free imitation. It tasted like it was bought in a bag and watered down days earlier. PS I walk by his cart once or twice a weekday, he has started to mutter something incoherent to me every single time I walk past. Should I ask him to speak up?

Khan will make you a hot dog, talk to you in some combination of English and (I think) Arabic, and get you out of there at a snail's pace. If you get a grilled chicken sandwich, expect to wait and wait. And wait some more. To be fair, the chicken is marinaded in a delicious marinade. He just takes so long and doesn't work efficiently with a large line. He will get large lines in the summer, as he is often the only sandwich truck on Spruce for days at a time. Same during holidays.
