Visiting our nephew and took him and his friends out to eat in Philadelphia. Being a young freshman in college, our nephew had a hankering for burgers. After researching burgers in the area, we decided to eat at Lucas Burger. Best decision! All five of our party enjoyed our burgers! The hamburger was tender, flavorful, savory , and not a single piece was left behind by us 5! Our burgers were the Da Matilda, Bacon, Crispy Chicken, and 3 Originals. We had sides of fries, onion rings, crab bites, and the favorite side...truffle fries! The chocolate and strawberry milkshakes cold and well flavored. Kudos to Antonio who runs Lucas Burger by himself! Antonio is the cashier, wait staff, soda fountain attendant, and grill cook! Lucas Burger absolutely deserves its 5 star rating!

I was in the mood for a nice hamburger and so I decided to try the recently opened Lucas Burger on Chestnut. Not too much to say, except that the restaurant was sparkling clean, the service was friendly, and the cheeseburger was deliciois! Would definitely grab a burger there again!

Finally came as I have been wanting to try. If you are hungry, I would say get the double. I was full. Small inside but not too crowded. Can easily take a walk to rittenhouse square as well and eat there.

Small little place that opened up on Chestnut. I haven't heard much about it as they just opened, but please go give it a try! Service was quick and they are always open to giving recommendations. Opted for the Da Mati Burger and some fries. Personally, the burger did not have much flavor despite the caramelized onions and mushrooms. It felt very fatty, especially with an added sauce, that didn't add much besides a little tang. Wish there was overall more seasoning and a better pairing proportion of veg. The fries weren't crispy (if you like that style) but were delicious, can tell they were made fresh!

Arguably the best burger I've ever had in my entire life. Service was amazing and we watched our food be made to order. Great ambiance too, super clean, nice lighting, great vibes. Unfortunately I'm only here on a day trip, or else I'd be here daily.

Yo, these burgers are the bomb! Delicious smashed patties grilled to perfection, tasty french fries and awesome service! I had the Philly Cheeseburger (double) and the kids had the classic burger. Both had incredible flavor and fresh toppings! Clean dining area with high-top tables. Highly recommend!!

I'll start by advocating that Village Whiskey lives up to its title of having the best burger in…read morePhilly. I visited for lunch during Restaurant Week, which I enjoyed because of its close proximity to the corporate hub in Center City where I work and for its solid menu. I was seated quickly at a high-top for my noon reservation. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks, split in half with the left providing an upscale bar aesthetic while the right presents a quieter, modern lounge feel. (It seemed like service staff was directing those with previously-booked OpenTable RSVPs to the lounge side.) Service was great, as my waitress continuously checked in during my meal even as more customers arrived throughout the lunch period. I appreciated being offered to add fries on my burger order, as Village Whiskey didn't have it automatically added on the RW menu. The only drawback was she forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked, but it came out medium rare which is the way I eat it regardless. I trust that's how they default, which is a good sign. The Food Breakdown: Deviled Eggs (4/5) - Classic, solid, and a good starter. I honestly selected it since the other appetizer options didn't really appeal to me, but nothing spectacular or negative about it. Four comes with each order. All-American Burger (5/5) - Fantastic. I'm not a pickle enjoyer, but the acidity just blended into each juicy bite. The jam had a slight kick, and you can taste the fattiness within the double Wagyu smash patties. High-quality all around and a solid portion size. Duck Fat Fries (4/5) - They were well-seasoned, and each order comes with a small side of ketchup. Granted I didn't ask, but I almost wish they offered a spicy mayo instead because it would complement the crunchiness better. Overall, the food quality and taste were superb. My only caveat was the price, knowing that $35 after tax and gratuity for lunch (without an additional drink) is costly. I wouldn't be able to come everyday, but it certainly has my vote for sharing with others the destination that has an immaculate burger.

NOT RECOMMENDED with the poor service and confusing bill..

I'm not sure how accountable this review will be, as I did take out not stayed. They were having happy hour but it didn't count for me as I was take out I guess. I got the mozzarella sticks were bomb with the sauce and I got the creamy Mac and cheese. I was excited for the Mac and cheese because I had one last night that was amazing from somewhere else. I got back to my hotel my second but I found a hair. Like a fatty I threw it to the side and kept eating it anyways. Unlike a true fatty, I didn't finish it. So unholy for a Mac and cheese lover like myself... but it was too acidic for me. I couldn't keep eating it. So I'm basing this review solely on the food. The service seemed ok? They seemed nice, but can't judge that as I did take out.

Last night was my 40th birthday and our original dinner spot didn't have room for us in the end…read more The weather was nice so lots of people were out around Rittenhouse Square, and we felt SOL for dinner plans. On a whim, I called Butcher Bar and told them I know it's last minute on a Saturday night, but could they accommodate 9 people. They told me if we were there in 30 minutes they could make it work, so we rushed over. We sat at the bar for drinks as they cleaned up a table. They overheard us talking about how The Trough would be nice (feeds 8 for $300, but was more than enough for us 9), and said if we wanted that they could get it started as the table was prepared. We said yes, and were sat a few minutes later with drinks in hand. Jenna (Gema? She had grape earrings) was a fantastic server and just so kind and attentive. She kept the drinks flowing and The Trough arrived sooner than I expected and was everything I wanted for dinner and more. I can't thank Butcher Bar enough for saving the night for my 40th and just providing a fantastic experience. We'll be back, and we promise to give more notice next time! :)

The chicken sandwich was crispy and tender although I would have liked more sauce on the sandwich to balance out the bun. So when my wife said she wanted a little something while we wandered through a heatwave in Philadelphia, I thought this would be a safe harbor. It was not. We ordered cheese fries and a banana pudding milkshake. The fries arrived looking as if they had been cooked last Tuesday and kept under a damp towel since. The cheese was cold and had formed a sort of yellow skin. It reminded me of school cafeteria food, but with better marketing. The shake was okay. The banana flavor was nice enough. But the Vanilla Wafer Cookie Crumble inside was too ambitious for a straw. Every third sip turned into a game of suction-based roulette. You could pay fifty cents extra for rainbow sprinkles to support GLAAD. That was a good idea I could get behind. The execution, like the fries, was half-hearted. It felt more like an upsell than a cause. The worst part was the store itself. We had planned to sit inside for a few minutes. Restore our core temperatures to something in the double-digits. Regain a little hope. But the tables looked like they had not been cleaned since lunchtime and the floor was trying to become one with the food. We took our sad little snack and walked back to the hotel. Two stars. One for the idea of Shake Shack. One for the milkshake trying its best. That is all.
