Very centrally located, and for those leaving Planet Fitness, it's a temptation. Ample parking, there are two entrances, and when you get to order, you are greeted with a smile! There are many menu choices including milkshakes that look delicious. My go-to is a cheeseburger with a little fry (except it's not little and they even add an extra scoop!). If you are waiting for take out or eating in, they offer free peanuts in the shell while you're there. I like the feel of the space. It's a very "soda shop" feel to me. Each staff person I came in contact with was very friendly! Highly recommend!! Fries are the best, just add vinegar!

Huge portions (probably not diet friendly lol), amazing food. Went for lunch with my fiancé and was only down $40ish. So definitely worth the money. Fries were a little too salty for my fiancé but I liked them. Very comfortable seating and a lot of fountain drink options.

So I'm a bit in sticker shock with the prices here! The Service was pretty lousy to boot. Food quality and taste is top notch though. Can't beat their French fries!

Oh. My. God. Five guys. My true love. How can anyone say anything bad about this place? Who hurt you? Who caused your inability to love? Don't worry, it's ok. Let the burgers soothe your pain. And the fries wrap you in love. Let the shakes quell that raging fire in your soul. Everything will be ok, I promise. Anyhow, amazing food. Amazing service. Awesome music. Decent parking. Clean bathrooms (of the one at a time variety, my favorite) and an awesome customizable drink machine. Did I mention the free peanuts? There is nothing bad about this place. This place is like the hero in most epic fantasies. Just pure. My order is always a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, extra pickles, grilled green peppers, grilled jalapeños, mayo, mustard and bbq sauce. Add in some Cajun fries, which are always fresh, and either a coke or a peanut butter shake with bacon and you have the cure for ANY possible ailment. Sadness? Cured. Flu? Cured. Bubonic plague? Cured!! There is nothing this place can't do. Sit down with my greasy order, with a tray of peanuts and listen to some 90's Alternative.... I mean come on, how are you still reading this and not running there?!? Kids love it. Adults love it. Pets love it. I am pretty sure if there was a five guys present during WWII things would have resolved much quicker. They all would have sat down to some burgers, dogs and fries and everything would have worked itself out one way or another. Obviously a joke so don't get too angry with me, but I mean... it's possible. They have something for everyone. One of my boys doesn't eat meat, so a grilled cheese. My wife has a gluten intolerance. So they wrap her burger in lettuce and change gloves and wipe the surfaces to make sure there is no contamination. There's even a veggie sandwich, but... why? If you try a burger you'll be hooked. It taste like what I picture a burger SHOULD taste like. It's heaven. Never bad. Now that being said, if you take it to go, that's on you. If it's a short ride that's fine. But the burgers are hot, and wrapped in foil. Too long of a drive and your bun and burger will be soggy. That's not their fault, think ahead. I get so excited whenever we decide on this place. Everyone in the family does. There's awesome outdoor seating in the summer. You can even see the planes coming and going, which we love. Just get there. You're mind will be blown. **this is for the Maine mall location. I do not like the Congress street spot for some reason. It's ok but not near as good as this location. And if you see a skinny guy with a scraggly beard and energy off the map working, your burger will be even better!

Came with 4 others guys and it did not taste good. Fries were to potatoy, the burger tasted like beef as wellthis is NOT a party in the USA

Food was made pretty quick, though there was nobody queued up when I arrived. Burgers are slightly on the smaller side (imo), which is perhaps why the double is also prominently listed on their menu. Onion rings are hand-made and not factory produced. Their mayo-based special sauce is dangerously great. Give me a bowl and spoon, please. Friendly folks here; minimal 'bar' indoor seating and several picnic tables outside. It's on a busy road so there's fair traffic noise. Unfortunately it's too far for me to be here regularly but I am glad I know it exists... just in case... for next time.

Barbara answered and took my order, told me the price and asked how long til I arrived. I said I was already there and she said give them 5 or so minutes. Let me say that the 1st sip of the reeses milk shake was amazing. I remember why I don't get them anywhere else. The burger was nice and juicy and had my favorite toppings and the hand cut fries reminded me of the beach, nice and crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy inside it really was the perfect lunch. My only complaint was the straw kept getting plugged by the reeses chunks on the bottom of the cup. If you're hungry and looking to support local businesses try this place out. You won't be disappointed with the food or the amazing people who work there

The braised and crisped pork belly (Buta No Kakuni) here was some of the best I have ever had. One of those "Holy sh*t" bites where you have to put your head down to process what just assaulted your taste buds. Perfectly rendered fat, good meat to fat ratio, super crisp outer exterior but not too much where it gets tough, the caramelized soy glaze to top it all off.. It was just so good. Also, getting a bite with the kewpie, pickled onion, and pork belly all in one shot is chefs kiss. It doesn't even need all the supporting characters, but it makes it that much better. Slightly overshadowed by the pork, I also got an onigiri. It was filled with chicken and chives. Overall I thought the onigiri was decent. Chicken and chive wouldn't be my top filling but it was tasty nonetheless and still worth trying! I like that they griddle it slightly to help it hold its structure instead of using a piece of nori. Its a pretty relaxing feel inside the place. Staff was also attentive and pleasant. We set in the back, up a few steps right underneath an awesome Totoro poster- iykyk.

We came in on a rainy Saturday night, their second night open. We scored the comfy couches in the front window. I like the 90's feel - sometimes it feels like places are trying too hard, but this was fun. There was a little TV, VHS tapes around, fun books to look at. It was very relaxed, and it felt like you could take your time and hang out. That feels kind of rare in Longfellow neighborhood eateries. I got the mushroom "steak" sandwich and it rocked my world. Delicious. The owner came out and served me and my friends our food - and it was so cool to see him be so involved! My bf got the chicken nugs and enjoyed them, and my friend got a sammie on gluten free bread - score. The location is right by the Portland Head Light, so if you're done exploring, perfect spot to enjoy some lunch. I ordered the Maine Style lobster roll and thought it was amazing! The weather was a little chilly and rainy, so the line for food was pretty short and moved pretty quickly. The best part about this experience was being able to sit at a picnic bench and look out at the stunning views while enjoying the lobster (although there were some very interested bees we had to deal with). The workers were also very pleasant. I want to note first that I'm pretty sure it was slightly more expensive than the other rolls we ate this whole weekend looking at ounces, but I personally still think it's worth it to try for some of the unique flavors. On the positive, I got the curry lobster roll (4.5 ounce size) and really enjoyed it. Good, solid lobster (not the best I've ever had but no real complaints), and the sauce was awesome with some lemon added on top. You get a little side of chips, those were fine but I didn't need them. My husband got a Connecticut lobster roll (6 ounces). This should be nice and warm all around. At the window they gave him the roll and asked if he wanted the butter on it and poured for him. Very unfortunately this roll was cold all around -- cold lobster, cold butter, and my husband said it was quite unpleasant to eat as a result and he couldn't finish the roll. Afterward, we looked up reviews and noticed that others had a similar experience. Just a bummer to advertise warm buttered and serve it cold consistently. All in all, I would give this a 4 and my husband would give it a 1, so we rested on a 3 because I did really enjoy mine. As mentioned above, I'd definitely recommend trying for the more unique flavors, but for a more classic roll I'd suggest elsewhere.
