I came here after a super long day at work. Since I skipped lunch ch entirely, I really needed lunch and dinner in one. I already knew that their burgers are the hugest in town, and the pack a gazillion calories, hence the reason why I came here. I decided on just the regular hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, those jalepeno peppers, and ketchup. I struggled to decide if I should also order fries, and after a few seconds I added the regular fries. With the small fountain drink, I was looking at nearly $20.00 which was OK because I only venture off-course with my calorie goals once in a blue moon. I am so overjoyed that they brought back the free peanuts, because I think that they took those away during the pandemic. The cooks jumped right on my order so there was really no wait. I can't wait to get home and finally put something in my stomach!

The top to the barbecue sauce: buried inside my burger. I did NOT order that!!!

I used to really, really like this Five Guys. Lately, they have declined, and what happened today is just about the last straw. When I walked in, there was only one person ahead of me - the place was not packed, at all. But after waiting 10 minutes, I went to see what happened, since they were calling numbers far after mine. THEY COULDN'T FIND MY FOOD. I gave them the receipt to make a new burger. When it was done, I then rushed home. When I got home, I opened the wrapper only to find THE TOP OF THE BBQ BOTTLE BURIED INSIDE! God only knows what would've happened if I had bitten into that. From the concern of dirt & germs on the outside of the top, to the hard plastic, and whatever else could find it's way inside a burger wrapper, I have completely lost confidence in what used to be one of my favorite spots.

    Messy Veggie with Cheese

Walked to this location on a nice Spring day to grab food to go. Ordered a veggie sandwich with no cheese, regular cajun fries, and little cheeseburger. The female at the register asked me if I wanted cheese on the sandwich and I stated clearly no -- no cheese. She said was pleasant, repeated the order and I paid with my card. We wait 5 orders for my food to be called, grab some napkins -- and head home. I walk home, fries smell great, open up my sandwich and immediately noticed melted cheese all over my sandwich. What a way to spoil the evening. I look at the receipt that shows no indication of cheese on my sandwich and look to call the store. I have to look up the number because its not on the receipt (its listed as 000-000-0000 rather than inputed properly) and I call the store. The "manager" answers the phone and I explain the issue to include the major inconvenience it is to have to come back to the store having walked to and from already. I explained that I now have to exhaust my time and gas to fix a problem that should have never occurred. I then asked him if he could just refund the sandwich over the phone and he said because it was with a card I had to come in for the return. Now, note, if it was with cash I would have to come back too! I told him that its not fair I am being inconvenienced and no way compensated for their mistake and he says,"When you come in I will remake your order and refund you money." I agree and asked how long will he be there and he said the rest of the evening. Before having opened the veggie sandwich, I placed the fries in a bowl for me and my daughter to share. So having been told to bring back the order, I got the brown bag OUT THE TRASH, poured the fries in it and tossed the sandwiches in and went back to the store. I get to the store and tell the guy at the register I am here for a refund and for the order to be remade. The "manager" is behind the grill, overhears and asks "How many veggies?" Now --- he doesn't come over to grab the receipt. He doesn't come over and apologize for the mishap, he just asks "how many veggies?"...Now how would he even know how to make the sandwich without coming over and getting the order?! This is the same attitude and lack of attention to detail that screwed it up the first time! So I proceed to reading the order and he says he's only replacing the veggie. Now I am pissed. Thats not what you said on the phone. My order consists of 3 items. You never said you would just replace a sandwich. I could have come another day to get $5 refunded for the sandwich! On the phone I originally asked how to refund the SANDWICH and showed disdain for having to come all the way back for just the sandwich so he offered to refund and replace the ORDER. So he says he's not replacing the order so he will just refund the whole thing with the same nonchalant attitude he had from start. So I ask for the district manager name and he can't give it to me. I ask for the corporate number and he says I can look it up at fiveguys.com. Really? Is this how Five Guys train managers to act when they mess up orders? Is this how you respond to PAYING customers who want fair resolution to a problem the STORE created? This "manager" refused to give me his name and laughed at my frustration and said "have a great night". Well, people -- I would not patronize this location. They are unprofessional and the whole time, this manager is back in forth with the register and the grill -- with no gloves. I will NEVER go here again. I called there 24 hrs customer service and requested a call and will followup with corporate. This "manager" needs to be demoted. A former frequent customer is now NO MORE.

The two stars were definitely for the food....But his place is by far one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever received. I came here after the Five guys in Maryland was having technology issues. My friends an I ran a special Christmas event earlier that day for some of the inner city children, and needless to say we were tired and very hungry. After having to go through the first Five Guys, we had hoped to have some kind of relief. We were greeted by a very rude woman who obviously didn't want to be working there. She took my order, a milkshake and some fries, and then that was that. My friends all took their orders and that was that as well. My fries came out in a timely manner, but my shake? fifteen minutes later AFTER asking them where my milkshake was I got it. No one had even started the shake! They had completely abandoned the milkshake station. And I am JUST GETTING STARTED!! Mind you my friend ordered her milkshake right after me, and her shake didn't get done. 15 minutes pass (thats when I got mine). 20. 25. Y'all, THIRTY, 3-0, minutes later she got her shake. But please do take note that this was AFTER her husband looked back at the counter staff ready to pounce at the clearly careless crew! But I'm not done. I decided I would go ahead and buy a burger. I had already paid a hefty price on fries and a shake (well over $10). So why not pay an extra ten for a cheeseburger. It's Five Guys. I wish y'all could look at me as I type this: I walk up to the counter ready to order, a younger, light skinned guy with a ton of hair LOOKS AT ME, not doing ANYTHING, and I'm just standing there waiting for him to say something. He just looks down and spins on his heel, looking for something else to do. Did I say something? Was I ugly? I smiled the entire time. Maybe I freaked him out by that. This man clearly did not want to help me! Don't believe me? Ask his coworker! After seeing that I had been standing there, the coworker said I'm sorry ma'am, how can I help you? Like this guy was the only guy I liked. HE is the reason for one of the two stars. He was so kind! I looked at him and said, "thank you for acknowledging me; I'd like to buy a burger." Like, he even saw that his coworker was slacking! He took my order, I received my burger in under ten minutes. Cool. I could not finish eating. Look, service plays a big part in how someone enjoys their food. I became less hungry after receiving my burger, as I was disgusted by the service. Never ever have I experienced this. As someone who works in hospitality, I was very disappointed. I'm glad this place is still getting service; Five Guys itself is awesome (except the prices..). I see others have experienced amazing customer service here. Maybe that day was a bad day to order from Five Guys on Riggs Road then. I want to experience what the others have experienced. And to the workers there: YOU chose to work here.

Short Version: Exceptional customer service, the usual generous portions and a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Can't miss American Fare: Burger, fries and especially delicious shakes. Long Version: I'm a fan burgers, check me out on Twitter, @RexLightning. I promise you'll be impressed and have context. This is my first time here. I will definitely be back. The restaurant was clean, the service was fast and my burger was good. Fresh ingredients are worth the premium. I didn't experience any issues at all. Every employee here seemed to enjoy what they were doing and my interactions with them were positive. I'd come back again on that reason alone. I don't agree with harsh reviews for a new business, those things should be expected. I was greeted when I walked in and out, and in a town where patrons are treated like they're the ones being done a favor, it was refreshing. Hats off, glad this spot is in my neighborhood. Lastly, try a salted caramel/peanut butter shake. You're welcome.

My group of 5 enjoyed a variety of their drinks and dishes, sharing 3 appetizers, enjoying 5 entrees, and indulging in two of their desserts. I started off with an alcoholic Mai Thai. Food wise, I had their grilled oysters, brussel Cesar, fried chicken curry dish, trifle dessert, and sorbet. As a non-seafood person, it was a big deal for me to try their oysters. I started slow with just their grilled oysters. They were drowning in garlic and butter, so it was hard not to like. The Brussel cesar was also a solid shareable. I appreciated that the salad did not come drenched in dressing. The curry friend chicken was phenomenal! The chicken fell of the bone so easily and was so crispy, moist, and overall outstanding. The curry and impossible rice paired perfectly with it. Finally, the desserts! I could have eaten two of the trifle dessert...it was smooth, creamy, and the perfect amount of sweet. It was everyone's favorite between the two. The sorbet was good, but I found the white chocolate a little weird/awkward since it was sitting around a bunch of cold sorbet...didn't melt or mesh well with the dish. It wasn't bad, but I'd try something else next time. Overall, I loved this place. The vibes, staff, and food were amazing. I can't wait to introduce more friends to this gem.

Fortunately, they make an outstanding Dirty London Fog and a wonderful London Fog Chai Latte, either of which I'd happily order instead. All manner of alternative "milks" are available as are a pretty decent selection of local beers in their cooler if you are grabbing take out. Be prepared for a wait on weekends--this is one of Takoma Park's most popular brunch destinations. Like many cafés these days, it's a favorite of laptop-wielding remote workers, so tables can be at a premium. In my experience, though, solo diners are often gracious about moving to the communal table when they notice [or more likely are asked polietly if they wouldn't mind moving] a larger group waiting. It's just one more example of the friendly neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

I stopped by this location in Silver Spring - it's located inside the Whole Foods - before a movie last week. Since it was my first time at PLNT, I ordered something traditional - the PLNT Cheeseburger (plant-based patty, caramelized onion, pickles, plant-based American cheese, green leaf lettuce, roma tomato, PLNT sauce, and potato bun). As a very failed former vegan (10 years as a vegetarian and vegan in my late teens to twenties), I was most worried about the vegan cheese (I remember having some pretty awful vegan cheeses in those days). The cheese was fine actually. The burger itself is okay; it kind of tastes like TVP (textured vegetable protein), a little dry, not too flavorful. But my real issue with the burger was its assembly - it was so covered in sauce and gooey cheese that the bun was sliding off before I even tried to pick it up. It was one of the messiest things I've ever tried to eat. And that's what I'll remember about my first PLNT Burger experience - not the flavor, but definitely the messiness of it. It was fast, which is great if you need a quick meal. And since it's in the food court area of Whole Foods, you can also grab other things while you're waiting for your meal or after. If you're vegan or vegetarian, this PLNT Burger might be a godsend and you might love it! Too messy for me!

For starters, we got the New England Clam Chowder and an order of Chickpea Fries. New England Clam Chowder - definitely a chowder and not a soup (heavy cream base) with a nice flavor and a healthy amount of clam bits. Chickpea Fries - A nice portion of well prepared fries. Nice crunch on the outside, but moist on the inside. Well seasoned and not oily. Comes with ketchup and an avocado lime ranch, which was ok. It's a huge portion and we took most of it home to enjoy later. Good use of chickpeas. Branzino - This is a whole fish split in half. Pretty easy to remove the bones oneself. The skin was nice and crunchy with the meat inside moist. Well prepared. I'm not a huge fan of dill and I think the seasoning of dill is a bit overdone here. (I'm pretty sure it's dill. Whatever it is, it's too heavy for me and detracts from the meal.). The wild rice side dish is very good. Lobster Roll - Excellent. My partner ordered this and the only comment was that the large was very big and next time they likely would get the small one. Lots of delicious, cold lobster meat. The fries also were excellent. The service overall was very good. Our food was served at an appropriate rate (apps, then main, which seems not to be important at a lot of restaurants these days) and the water service was excellent. Recommend this restaurant. I probably would not get the Branzino again because of the heavy dill seasoning, but there are other items in the menu that look interesting.

My grilled chicken was moist, flavorful, and cooked very well. The fried catfish was not too salty and had great balance where you can taste the fish. The mac and cheese, cabbage, and green beans were all of nice quality, the weakest link is the potato salad, however that is a dish that can be complicated for different restaurants to get the hang of, fortunately I can prepare some awesome potato salad myself. The peach half and half drinks were balanced perfectly well not too sugary and sweet. I swear some of these places make drinks way too sweet and you want to check your insulin levels. The server was highly attentive and a great conversationalist and paid attention to our wants and needs and had superb professionalism and a strong work ethic. He was hospitable and accommodating. The staff was friendly and approachable. We had fun and enjoyed this more than Milk and Honey and even Carolina Kitchen. DC keeps gentrifying and losing its soul, but there are still some hidden gems around. This spot blends in with the Walmart, and funnily enough I have driven past here a gazillion of times and assumed it was some bakery or another spot and did not know it was a soul food joint, something DC has been minimizing and pushing out to Maryland like the city always does. I think it is masterful that they use clear plastic containers for their food making it easier for the staff as that can be expensive and time consuming with the dish washing/prep, sound economical move. It is nice that the business (U Street etc. location) has been in the DMV for over 20 years and expanded to Baltimore in Fells Point. I think Baltimore will like this spot! This felt authentic and soulful in a way that I had not experienced in the city in quite some time, as the city has had a lot of restaurants be sterile, bland, flavorless, and catered to certain demographics while completely ignoring others. I liked the soundtrack with R&B and was able to hear some TLC on the soundtrack which was very nostalgic and a throwback to DC before the gentrification when it was truly Chocolate City! Overall, it is a spot that you can visit more than once certainly not a one and done like a lot of restaurants that lack service, food, and ambiance/vibe.

At that time, I was upset about what happened with George Floyd a week earlier; still in 2026, it was wrong what happened to Floyd (not to mention more recent news that happened in that city was horrible too). I hung out with a friend on that warm day having a beer outside his apartment in Takoma Park. He is a mega-leftist politically (I'm more independent), but said he wanted to support a black-owned business; I said that's a good idea; I might do that for dinner. He was doing his own thing for dinner, so I was on my own. So, I looked up on Yelp what was in the area, and I saw just across the border in DC, Oohh's & Aahh's. Staff was nice, and I got a fried chicken platter. As this was Covid times, there was no dine-in. So, I schlepped all the way straight up Georgia Ave 6 miles back to my home in Wheaton fairly quickly on that Sunday as I don't like my food getting cold. I think my food stayed pretty hot as it was well-wrapped, and if it had cooled off, I could always microwave at home. The fried chicken, mac n' cheese (my favorite vegetable...I know not really a veggie but a joke), etc. were all solid. If I was ever over here, I'd consider coming back; just so rare I go to DC these days.
