This place has some good food but since my family had been living in Brazil for 2 years in the past the food is sub par from true Brazilian food. With that being said the food is good to try especially if you are road tripping through Missoula. I love the simplicity of the menu and the build your bowl concept reminds me of the the naked burrito for quedoba or Chipotle. Yum! I researched places to eat before coming to Montana (Alaskan) and this is the only place I really wanted to visit! People were wonderfully nice! And my oh my so was the food! The food is fresh and delicious. However, pretty skimpy on portions (except rice). The sauces portions are not enough to cover all the rice, and so you end up with the bottom of the bowl just being plain rice. Sad, because all of the other flavors are so full and wonderful! This place is pretty good. They basically fill up a bowl with some rice, some meat, and a pile of toppings you may or may not be familiar with, and the result is really damned good, even if I can't quite describe it. The only issue is that they are a bit stingy with the meat, and the other flavors become so overpowering that you barely even taste it. But the price is right and the flavors are good, so I can still recommend Five on Black for a quick lunch break meal or an inexpensive dinner. read more

I love Chipotle and then I found this place! The price is definitely very affordable with great portion of food too. I had the feijoada, collard green and mango BBQ sauce. In Montana for the summer on internship. My roommate and I can never agree on where to eat, and are seldom fully "satisfied". Five on Black changed that for us. I always get the beef, black beans, spicy coconut sauce, cilantro, lime, and salsa. She gets the chicken, black beans, mango bbq, cilantro and lime. It is so delicious that we come back almost once a week to fill our bellies of this deliciousness. They also have a rewards program through the company "Belly" where you earn 5 points for every visit to get free drinks, sides, and eventually a free meal. We will surely miss it once we go home.
