    Salmon skin hand roll

This place was very delicious. Stopped by for lunch and had a salmon skin roll, unagi sashimi, and the dancing eel roll. I enjoyed the way they served the unagi which is played on top of thin sliced carrots. The only change I would make is to lessen the sauce on top. Ambiance was casual and relaxing vibe. Staff were welcoming and will definitely visit again when in the area.

Went here for dinner on a Monday evening. It looked like they were closing up because several people were cleaning, but they weren't closed. Service was good. He answered questions and checked back on us several times. Sushi rolls were plated nicely and tasted good! Rolls didn't have a crazy amount of rice, but one had way too much sauce. Price point for sushi was less than normal places and that was a pleasant surprise! Sorry, I thought I took more pictures, but turns out there's only one Only taking away a star because of the cleaning, too much sauce on one roll and the rolls didn't come out all at once. Would go back here again though!

As long as you get Sulu you will have a wonderful evening. He is the most entertaining chef on the planet. He is full of joy and laughs. Udo is a great waiter and quickly on your every request. The food is good! If you have allergies they are good about keeping the food separated. The ginger dressing is yummy and you can have as much as you want! We laughed so hard and enjoyed our food.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER IF WE HAD GONE TO ... ... or, a lesson from the 1950s My friend Chef Laurie had been raving about Kobe for years. I didn't go with her until recently. It wasn't good. And, to be fair, I went back today. It still wasn't good. In the 1950s, my Mom worked at a burger joint while going to college at OSU. She told me that the owner was very, very careful to serve the best of everything, and how he would line up the servers to try different preparations of burgers and other dishes. That was my first introduction to quality control and remains my model today. Kobe needs to try that model. When we had dinner together last week, I ordered calamari. To be fair, my standard of calamari was the rings we had in Spain in the late 1960s. My order was like crispy breaded onion rings. Not that the breading was bad, but the amount of calamari was about the thickness of an onion in onion rings. The second try today was the same, so it wasn't just "because the restaurant is busy". And, I thought I would try the spring rolls, in case calamari isn't their expertise. The filling was just plain overcooked mush. Maybe if it weren't ground so fine? I'd like to complain about the server, but it seems that only one was scheduled. Sounds like a management problem. It would have been better if we had gone to ... a lot of places.

Grizzly baked roll: tempura shrimp, crab stick, avocado, chopped scallops, crawfish, mixed crab! It was soo tasty!

The place was busy so I sat at the bar. The service was fast and friendly at the bar and the roll and rice I got was very flavorful!

Every business can have a bad day. So glad I did. I went alone as my husband was not interested and I missed having sushi. Lunch was a appetizer of Crispy crab stuffed mushrooms... 4 Large buttons, is enough for a meal. Fantastic. But I had to also order a roll. The wolverine, was amazing. My experience was so good, I got my ladies lunch group to go again two weeks later. They loved it as well. Service was spot on, unlike my first visit 5 years ago. The decor is very nice, white linen table cloths but it is not a dress-up place unless you want to. While checking out after the ladies lunch, the owner cashed me out. I did mention my story from 5 years go.. but said we were back to being regulars, and we don't need to drive to Missoula for decent sushi. You wont be disappointed.

We were seated immediately and Emma promptly took our orders and gave us tremendous service. Sushi was AWESOME and our entire meal cost less than 1/4 of what it would have been at the place we walked out of...and with more food! Super impressed and will definitely be hitting it again in the coming weeks. Emma was the BEST!

We were not disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely open layout, and we were able to sit where we could watch everything going on in the kitchen. They have some open fires with hefty amounts of coals, hence Ember. It was a lovely atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and engaging. We started with their wedge salad, which we shared. It had a very nice seasoning on top, that we hadn't had on a salad before, but it was delicious. We loved their homemade sourdough bread with the lovely ribbon of butter it was served with. My husband had a steak, which we both thought was very good. I chose the beef cheeks, which were served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes. The dish was very different from the beef cheeks I had in Italy, but they were delicious and so tender, no knife needed. The beef cheeks dish was big enough I had plenty to share with my husband, in exchange for a bite of his steak. The only thing I would change would be less salt, as the beef cheek dish was just a tad too salty for my tastes. We were quite filled and decided against a dessert, although they all sounded delicious. The waiter was very kind, and decided to treat us to a dish of strawberry sorbet for our birthdays. It was quite delicious, not too sweet, which we both really enjoyed. We had a great dinner and will hopefully be back soon.

An unassuming door opens to a wide-open space framed by rustic wood panels and leather booths leading to a walk-in kitchen. There is no chef's counter; instead a long chef's table and views of wood-fired meals from any seat in the house. The menu is tailored but varied by local and seasonal selections. I would have appreciated stronger leadership during seating and dining, as service requires a touch of polish. Nonetheless, the local Embered Beets tipped the scales on my typical avoidance - the earthy taste is brined and balanced after firing, served along with gently sweet goat cheese speckled in fresh cracked black pepper topped with savory (crunch!) granola & radish micro greens. Another local pick - Premium Filet Mignon from Billings is fresh from the range, tender enough to cut with a butter knife, and coated in bruléed blue cheese that blends with rich jus. Comparatively the 24-Hour Potato is showy but bland compared to the effort & ingredients involved. Knocking socks off - the Toffee Cake is dessert ELEVATED - a dense butter cake in Bundt shape soaks up ALL the caramelized toffee that's sweet but not TOO, warming and comforting with a single scoop of rich vanilla ice cream and a touch of thyme on top. AMEN! p.s. A thoughtful thank you note to-go is an exceptional way to end a lovely meal.
