This review is for the one on US 93. The Good - The BBQ is excellent and the service moved pretty quickly. Staff were well informed and friendly. The Meh - The parking is pretty tight, considering this in MT and lots of peeps are driving pickups or RVs with bikes on the back. The Bad - Nothing to report here. read more

I was glad they opened a southern missoula location. I've had their catered food from the northern location several times and really enjoyed it. When I walked into the southern location the first time, I knew it was a mistake. There was a girl giving goo goo eyes at the male cashier who was doing his best to remain professional. We ordered food and sat down. The food arrived a few minutes later and it was stone cold. Totally inedible. Then they forgot part of the order. When I went to the register, because it was obvious she wasn't going to check on us, they denied we ordered extra food. I had to walk back across the restaurant and get my receipt. Thank god I insisted on one. Then she went, "Oh" and went in back to get without another word. We were the only ones in the restaurant (a former jiffy lube). As a former garage with concrete floors, the place was cold and uninviting. read more

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon too late for many things on the menu. We got the last order of tri tip and after that all they had was the pulled pork. The tri tip was the better of the two, although the pork was also nice and moist. There were a few different BBQ sauces to try with them. The egg potato salad was really good, eggy and lots of mayo...my favorite of the two sides we got. The mac and cheese was decent but I would have liked more cheese and butter. I wish I had gotten a chance to try the burnt ends. Maybe next time. read more

This location used to be a Jiffy Lube, and that is apparent as soon as you walk in. It is nice and airy and has a great atmosphere with actual bench seating indoors. They also have bar stool height seating as well as outdoor seating when weather permits. The service is always pretty fast and the restaurant is always clean. If you enjoy barbecue, then there is something for everyone. I know the burnt ends are a favorite for a lot of people. If you are a Missoulian and haven't eaten here yet, you definitely should try it. The smell from all the food will draw you right in. This is exactly what you would expect for some good American barbecue! read more

I was at a microbrewery nearby. They had a Thai food truck, but I was in the mood for something else. Notorious was a short walk over a pedestrian bridge. Wow! What great brisket! It was so tender & juicy. The plate came with 2 sides (I had beans & slaw. Both were very good). The meat was the star. And this was some of the best I have ever had. read more

I enjoyed dining at the Notorious PIG BBQ. I ordered the two meat combo with green beans and their smoked mac n cheese. For the meats I went with their lean brisket and burnt ends. The brisket was lean but not dry, great smoke. The burnt ends fell apart and went great with the mac and cheese. The green beans were also pretty tasty. Overall the environment was clean and tidy. It's cool eating in an old car garage. Service was friendly. Plus they got MT Dew on tap. If you're in town, check them out! read more

They have the best barbecue in town, hands down. Easy to deal with as well. We lost cherry trees last year in the big winds. They took all the cut up cherry wood and in exchange we got a very generous certificate to exchange for their products. It's a win-win! Try it all cuz it's all good! read more

I was told this place was amazing.. stop by and they were pretty much almost out of everything by the time I got there. I would say I was not impressed with anything that we ordered and ate. Coleslaw, mac and cheese, pulled pork, The sauce... Definitely not worth what I paid for it. I was told the tri-tip was pretty good but like I had mentioned they were almost out of everything. Maybe I'll try this place again in the future but definitely not worth the $75 I paid for the three meals that I ordered. In all three of us concurred that it wasn't that great. read more

This was nothing special. I ordered burned ends. It tasted like it was sitting in sauce that was warm. Some of the ends were crispy and inedible. I did just eat around it. For my sides I got Mac and cheese and slaw. The Mac cooled down way fast and wasn't that great from the start. But the slaw went great with the bbq. I was also given a piece of Texas toast. It wasn't even toasted, just pulled out of the bag and put on my trey. I was disappointed. It does looks like it was at an old jiffy lube place. Which could be pretty cool. read more

the name is absurd and i as a person of color find racist. My family and i went there and it was unanimous that this was the worst bbq we have ever been to. I am from NYC and lived years in Texas and this does not even resemble a bbq place by Texas stabdards. If you think their food is good. You have never been to Alabama, Texas Mississippi. The parking is hoprribe and it is not unusual to find someone wiithout a handicap plate or hanger in the space read more

The food overall was great. We shared the 2 meat plate and had burnt end, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, potato salad and 2 slices of toast. It was nice of them to split the meal for us. The burnt end was delicious and flavorful. The pulled pork was a little dry and tasteless. The sides were both delicious, especially the potato salad. It was enough meal for both of us to share for lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I don't really care much about the different sauces. The sweet one was too sweet for my tasting. I like the Midas touch, it wasn't spicy but it got a little kick and good flavor. We would come back again to this place. read more

The beef...needs more salt and has been sitting in the line for a bit too long - gray and bland, which I feel is not the hallmark of Brazilian churrosco. But the grill setup is there for the vibes. Maybe try the chicken next time. Also make sure you get the pao de quejo, super addictive chewy cheese rolls that are best fresh from the oven. Again the steam tray probably wasn't helping but either way are worth it as a side.

I also really appreciated that they offer several vegan options. I ordered the Creamy Blue Smoothie and the Banana Walnut Oatmeal. The oatmeal was absolutely AMAZING--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily one of the best breakfasts I've had here. It's the item I'd recommend to everyone. The smoothie was good overall, but the fresh mint was a bit overpowering and left an aftertaste for me. I think it would be even better without the mint or with less of it. I also appreciated that they use compostable straws, although mine was cracked when I unwrapped it. Later, I came back for lunch and ordered the half Brussels Caesar Salad with the vegan protein. The vegan protein (chickpeas and lentils) was delicious, and the half portion was surprisingly large. I also liked that the dressing came already tossed throughout the salad. One thing I found a little confusing was that the Brussels Caesar uses a vegan dressing but is topped with cheese, so I'd be curious what substitution is offered for guests ordering it vegan. A few suggestions that could make the experience even better: * Add a larger "Basal" sign above the entrance to make the restaurant easier to spot. * Install a large wall-mounted menu inside for easier viewing. * Keep tables and chairs wiped down throughout the lunch rush. The restaurant was spotless during breakfast, but by lunchtime several tables and seats needed cleaning. Given the price point, I'd expect a bit more attention to dining room upkeep. Overall: good atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food. I recommend the Banana Walnut Oatmeal.
