This place has a similar ambience and flow that Chipotle or Piada has. You walk up and pick either a small bowl for $6 or a regular for $8 (which is what I got). Choose your base, salad, rice (white or brown). Choose your protein, sauce and a couple sides. I got white rice, chicken, half collard greens, half black beans, limited time green sauce (similar to Chipotle's green salsa), a pico like salsa, cilantro, and lime. The bowl was very tasty and extremely fresh. The ingredients could use a tad taste boost and more of a Brazilian flare I felt it was lacking in spice and flavor but all in all it was tasty and satisfying. My favorite part was the spicy oil and spicy vinegar that have next to the drink/plastic wear counter. Gave the bowl the boost it needed. I finished off my experience with a Pao De Queijo which is a piece of dough with cheese mixed in. Pretty good for the price. Overall good place and concept. read more

This place is neat - with a great playlist, fantastic food, quick lines and a wide variety of options and styles. One of the most delicious, hip places we have been in some time and for the money, you really can't find a better place to eat anywhere. Best fast food you will find in Missoula. Flavorful and fresh and great for a gluten free dietary restriction! Yes, it's all gluten free, but it's more that the style of food is already gluten free - I don't believe they're adapting recipes/using gluten free substitutes. So, no weird textures/flavors/blandness, just good food (rare for gf restaurants!). Very filling for a low price. Great variety of options and delicious sauces. I had good experiences here 3 or 4 times. Then, recently, stopped in and ordered a chicken bowl with white rice only to find when I got home that there were roasted veggies instead of chicken and the rice hadn't been cooked. :( It wasn't worth it to take it back and is a bummer because now I'm not excited to go there. Absolutely fantastic! A unique gem of a restaurant. Great food, large portions, great price! The blend of flavors here is amazing! Ordering the first time is a bit confusing but we took the advice of others and had the Chicken rice bowl with coconut curry sauce, sweet potatoes, chimichuri, cilantro & lime...delicious!! If you want a quick, fresh meal, 5 on Black is as good as they come. I love their roasted veggies and greens options, and all that spice! They have less spicy options, too. If you eat smaller meals, the 'regular' size gives you two. I love 5 on Black leftovers... they last and taste delicious for lunch the next day. The prices have gone up recently, but it's still one of my favorite places to go for a quick and feel-good bite to eat. read more

Meat was extremely tough. Bread dough ball bun was literally a raw dough ball under cooked. The just toss a bunch of herbs and spices into a pot and hope it works out, usually they are over powering and conflicting flavors. I really don't get how this is popular or why people like it. It's watery soup stew on under cooked crunchy rice with no distinct flavor. At least they use spices, but do they have to use ALL of them a-z. Tough meat and crunchy rice just ain't my thang. I don't get how these reviews say there's so many choices. There's 1 choice rice, 3 types of meat beef, chicken or mixed, there's root vege or beans, bbq or spicy coconut, and tomato ving or chimichuri. You get one or the either, no mixing. Creating a huge sloppy mess. They average lunch will cost $8-10 without a side roll or drink. Over expensive, food comes out of cans. I don't know how these guys pulled the wool over Missoulian's eyes. This is not real Brazilian food. It's about as much Brazilian as Pizza hut is Italian. Not very quick even with a short line. The apple ipay thing is weird and have no clue how safe they treat it. Bring cash. Don't bring kids because the menu is soooo limited and picky eaters will have no option. A child might like rice and roll and that's about it due to the weird flavor mixes, just everything tossed together. Before they had no flavor, now it has unorganized monkey mess. read more

As a Brazilian, I got really excited when I heard that Missoula has a Brazilian restaurant. I went there and ordered a feijoada, which one I love, but it was the biggest disappointment of my life. Their feijoada has a lot of pepper, real feijoada hasn't and a totally different taste from any feijoada that you would ever have in Brazil. It is an American restaurant disguised of Brazilian restaurant. Most people like it but if you think you will have or you had Brazilian food there, you are totally wrong!
