At one point, I was quoted hundreds of dollars for a repair I knew cost less than $20 at a hardware store, justified only by "that's what the system, Xactimate, says." That experience alone raised serious concerns about how a major claim would be handled. Unfortunately, I eventually found out. After a winter storm, I noticed a small water stain on my ceiling. Upon inspection, it was clear there was a significant moisture issue in the attic--every sheet of roof plywood was wet. Despite this, Allstate determined it was not a "new issue" and denied coverage, leaving me responsible for a full roof replacement costing over $16,000.
