Honestly I don't want to write a review, because I'm afraid everyone is going to find out about how awesome Five Pups is and I won't be able to fit our babies into their schedule when it gets too popular. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for Five Pups. The number of times my fiancé and I have had to work late or travel out of town last minute-- Arthur and Five Pups always comes through. They are so flexible, picking up and dropping off our little guys when we need and I never feel stressed about it. I provide their food and medications and feel comforted that they're in good hands. We get texts with lovely pictures of our babies playing (attached). I know they have a good time, because they literally run away from us and to the van, and never want to come home when they're being dropped off (*cries*). They're always home smelling fresh (and bathed), and exhausted from playing. Incredibly grateful to Five Pups and the top notch daycare and boarding. Highly highly recommended. read more

This is hands down the best dog daycare spot in DC!! We absolutely love sending Ruby, our 10 month old mini Australian Shepherd, there for the day. 5 reasons why you should send your dogs to them: 1. They take great care of the dogs and will send you pictures throughout the day so you can see how they're doing. I'm always jealous of Ruby because she's clearly having way more fun than me. 2. Your dog gets to run around OUTSIDE with other dogs during the day (weather permitting of course). I once asked how much time they spend outside and they made it clear that if it's uncomfortable for you to be outside (too cold, too hot, etc.) then it's uncomfortable for them to be outside and they bring them in. 3. Your dog will be super excited to see Arthur when he comes to pick them up so you know they love them and take care of them like they're their own. 4. Did I mention Arthur will come to you and pick up your dog?! We live in Columbia Heights for reference. 5. If you have a younger dog or a rescue that's the only dog in the house, it's a fantastic way for your dog to get in a whole day of socialization and playtime while you're at work. Especially if they're a pandemic baby! One last thing. When we first started sending her, we had lots of questions about the facilities (since they're in Indian Head, MD, we didn't really want to drive over there to check them out ourselves) and they took the time to answer every one. They clearly care about the health and safety of the dogs in their care and have invested time and money into their setup. I can't remember the details of all the recent upgrades. But I'm sure if you asked they'd be happy to share that info with you. Our dog Millie has been boarding with Arthur and 5 pups off and on for almost two years now. We've had relatively good experiences with them until our most recent booking. We needed to cancel a few weeks out of her boarding because she has been experiencing some health issues and we're uncomfortable leaving her alone. We canceled more than 2 weeks ahead of the booking. Supposedly, they have a non-refundable deposit program that we we unaware of, perhaps something recently introduced? When we requested our money back, we were told the policy is clear and they could not return our money. People should be aware when booking this that there is a refundable deposit, regardless of circumstance or situational context. read more

Five Pups has become our dog's home away from home. In fact, I am fairly confident that she would not mind our becoming her second home and Five Pups her primary abode. Also, not to share too much, I do not have children. I have a Cairn Terrier named Brin. And Brin means more to me than anything. Seriously, anything. Five Pups is the best! Michael and Arthur the owners take amazing care of my high energy dog, and I cannot say enough good things about them. They offer pick up and drop off service. During the day the dogs can hang out indoors or outdoors on their multi acre property. My dog has gone to daycare there three times a week for the past six months or so and has also boarded there and absolutely loves it. I like that they offer a lot of outdoor space for him to play and run around. They both really love all of the dogs and work incredibly hard. Michael and Arthur are the best! read more

Very disappointed in Five Pups. Terrible customer service. Do not waste your time. After reading all of the reviews it looked like the perfect place to board and provide daycare for our dog. I was sent a text message if it was ok to call to schedule the evaluation. I responded yes but never received the phone call until the following day. Ok not a big deal but annoying when someone says they are going to call you and they don't. I schedule the evaluation and then no one shows up. I didn't get a text, phone call or email saying they needed to reschedule. We waited several hours for this person to show. Nothing. A couple hours later I get a text asking to reschedule. If this is how you treat potential customers then I have no interest sending my dog to this facility. read more

My dog is probably already one of the most spoiled in my neighborhood & then I started sending her to Five Pups where Arthur spoils her even more! I travel a lot for my job & I always felt guilty about leaving her. Now she gets to hang out in the country & get treated like a member of the family. I never feel guilty about watching Arthur drive off with her & he'll send me pictures and text me regularly to let me see how she's doing. I really can't recommend Five Pups highly enough. I never used a doggy day care before and I didn't know what to expect but the folks at 5Pups really make the experience worth while. They came a pickes my dog up and took him to their doogy compound, where he has so much space to run and interact with other dogs. They make sure to attend to his special dietary needs. (he's an older dog ripe age of 9 ) And then they dropped him back off and waitied for me because I was runnig late coming from work. I can't say enough about them and Arthur is soooo great with the dogs. I'm convinced he is some sort of dog whisperer. They also keep dogs over the weekned as well. Next time I go out of town that's where I'll be leaving my dog. I will never leave my dog in a kennel again if I can help it. On top of all the wonderful services they provide they aren't crazy expensive either. I see no reason not to leave your dog with Five Pups. Your dog will love you even more for it. read more

Arthur and Michael are really thoughtful. They've been taking care of my pets for a while, and I know my babies are always in good hands. I think Chelsea and Cleo like them more than they like me! I am so pleased with their service this weekend, we got snow in the DC area and the team at Five Pups anticipated the impacts on the area and arranged to have my pets dropped off early to get them home safe before the snow started. I have been taking my high-energy JRT there for at least a year for both boarding and daycare. Mike and Alfred are so good with her, and she is so comfortable with them (they send me pictures of her antics during the day). Their facility is huge (and growing), clean, safe for all sizes and activity levels of dog, and has all the things dogs love (mud, stinky things, chickens and goats to bark at, couches, cuddles and treats), and if she gets too stinky, she gets a bath :-) They are very reasonably priced, especially when you consider the service you get (especially the taxi service!) It gives me the utmost pleasure to write this review about Five Pups doggy daycare. I had just moved from the West Coast and was at a loss for what to do with my dog Petey while I worked in the city. I did not want to leave him with someone who would just come by, walk him once a day and then leave him locked in the apartment by himself until I returned home in the evening. I found Five Pups daycare on Yelp and submitted an email inquiring about their services. They immediately contacted me and offered to come by to meet me and my dog and to essentially test the waters with regard to how my dog would adapt a new caretaker. Ever since then I have not looked back. Petey looks forward to being picked up in the morning because he gets to spend the day in a loving and caring environment, and he's making new doggy friends, This puts my mind at such ease about how he is spending his day. Five Pups takes such good care with Petey, even going so far as to text me photos of Petey during my workday to show me that he is happily playing with new friends and is being well cared for. Being new to the area I had on my to-do list to find Petey a new vet. Imagine my surprise when Five Pups offered the services of a vet who makes house calls to their facility on a regular basis. It was the best thing I could've asked for. I am a puppy mom who works full time and is single. Being able to not worry about taking a morning or an afternoon off to get Petey to the vet is a Godsend. I highly recommend Five Pups Daycare to anyone looking for a loving environment where their furry little pal can be genuinely cared for.
