Employees when I called to inquire about services gave conflicting information about their services. What was relayed does not match Dogtopia policy. There is no "free" meet and greet and stay per the employees. The "stay" is mandatory and charged after per the employee when the larger Dogtopia company said that was complimentary. Not worth my money to take off work to do a temperament meeting and then forced to have a "stay" before a trip to test things out. read more

We love Dogtopia for daycare and boarding. They take great care of our little doggie and she loves it there!! Every time we drop her off she's so excited. The staff are all very friendly and sweet with her. They follow instructions for her medication and care while she stays there. A couple of things we don't love - there's no outside so the dogs go potty in the daycare room. When she's there for multiple days I feel bad she doesn't get to go outside at all. Also, the grooming leaves a lot to be desired. We gave the groomer 3 tries to get her haircut right and it was so bad we had to take her elsewhere to have it fixed. Completely jagged around her face and lots of mistakes elsewhere too. So, we'll be skipping grooming in the future! But, love coming here for daycare and boarding. read more

Where do I start, first off my wife and I love DOGTOPIA. The staff are very friendly and careful with the dogs. You can even watch your dog on camera, there are three gyms your dog could be in, depending how big and active your dog is. My wife loves watching at the cameras for our pup Rocky when we're on vacation. They also have really cool theme days like Birthday parties or whatever Holliday it is this month. The grooming services here are cheap as well, you can get a dog wash and a nails clipping, probably other services as well but that's all we've used. The pricing is maybe half the price of doing so at Petsmart or Petco. Another cool thing they do is dog report cards. Rockys is always shy at first and then can't stop won't stop, which is his character to a "t" You can also take your dog to other DOGTOPIA locations, they just need to confirm with the location you normally take him too that there are no behavioral issues first. read more

Winnie gets so excited when we get to Dogtopia that her tail starts wagging vigorously and she pulls me into the lobby as soon as we get out of the car. We've used their daycare, boarding, and bath services and we've been pleased with all of it. They have a livestream camera during daycare hours which I find myself stalking frequently during work hours. They also have early dropoff and pickup hours (6:30am-7pm) which is convenient to go around my work schedule. As for boarding, they are very thorough with the instructions (how much food, allergies, emergency contact, etc.) and allow you to bring a shirt for your pup to sleep with. As for grooming, we've only used their bath services so far and your pup leaves with a cute bandana after every grooming! This location also has "themed events", such as special photo days to correlate around the holidays and monthly birthday events. The staff here is very friendly and they clearly love their jobs! During our evaluation, we were given a tour of the facility (which is super clean!) and a folder with all of the details regarding daycare and boarding. The pricing is fair for the area and worth it when I pickup my tired pup. read more

The advantages of Dogtopia Springfield are the ease of booking and availability. Unfortunately what comes with that is a situation ill-suited for dogs on the higher end of moderate energy levels. The facility is often overcrowded and short staffed in the rooms where the dogs spend their time. If your dogs are prone to overstimulation this could be a bad situation. We have taken both of our dogs there for two years now. We had no issues until recently. The last two times we have gotten somewhat perplexing text messages from the staff there claiming our dogs were overstimulated and acting abrasively. We obviously followed up and apologized and asked what we can do to address the issue considering we were 10 hours away. The staff was gracious and said they were just letting us know, however, this is not useful or effective communication. I suggested alternating them in an out of the crate and general population, not hopeful it would make a difference and endeavored to pay closer attention to the web camera. Since we have noticed our dogs were spending an inordinate amount of time in the crates for what we were paying for boarding. Other dogs who were acting just as boisterously left out when ours were crated. We have recorded footage to substantiate this. I will be the first to admit our lab does not always read dog social cues, and the cattle dog feels the need to intervene when other dogs react negatively. I get this can make the job of the staff interesting, however, the lab is the opposite of aggressive, and other dogs reaction, or the staff's inability to manage it seems to be more of the issue. UPDATE: My dog wasn't eating this morning. I had to call for them to tell me he threw up and had diarrhea the day before. I'm really glad we paid nearly $1000 for our dogs to sit in crates and for them not to tell us one was sick. read more

Thank God for Dogtopia in Springfield. My dog has been going there for almost a year and it is the best thing that has ever happened to us. This place is cool. I'll be bringing my dog back for another spa day. I called on Wednesday and scheduled and appt for Saturday morning. Got there and they took her back right away. They said it would take about 30 min. I was a lil surprised besides that seemed a lil fast. So I left to grab a quick bite to eat and came back 20 min later. When I came back they were still working on clipping my dog nails!! When they saw I returned they both jumped on getting her in the tub and scrubbing her down. Two employees worked on giving her a bath. One washing and one scrubbing. Then one did the drying while the other cleared her ears. My dog left cleaner and with a cute lil Banda around her neck (I thought this was a nice touch). They have a large glass mirror that you can see through while they give her a bath and cameras to see the back rooms (where the boarding takes place). Minus one start because I think the front end staff got overwhelmed with other dogs coming in, so it kinda slowed them down. Minus another start because I think they kinda rushed through drying her off. My dog got in the car still a lil wet and they didn't brush her out after the bath. I'll come back again and see if things are better. read more

Far too many dogs per daycare room. The romper room only has 1 employee for approx. 25 dogs of varying sizes. Per the webcam of Jan 11, 2023, there was pee and dog puke on the floor that was not being addressed while employee was on her cell phone. The pre-recorded webcam on the information page is totally inaccurate. It does not appear that they are concerned about the outbreak of the Canine influenza in our area. Our area has a very bad outbreak of Canine Influenza, and this type of care is only spreading it. Very disappointing and have pulled our dog from day care. Barbara K. read more

Not that everyone negative review is justified or explainable but the owner has an excuse for everything and doesn't own up to lack of training/experience employees have or own up for health issues which could've been avoided if proper checks were done. Very convenient option for grooming, socialized daycare, and boarding. Yes, it is expensive, but these days you get what you pay for. I have been using this location for 1 medium and 1 large dog for about a year and a half now. It's easy to write a good review when everything goes as expected, but it's even more impressive when I feel the need to do so after things don't. But I'll get to that... Location has 3 dog rooms for open play based on sizes. This allows your pup to feel more comfortable around the other dogs. They do require a temperament test before allowing your pup to open enroll in daycare/boarding. When your dog is here you can view them on the cameras either on their website, or even better on your phone using their app. At night they are crated. When boarding you can drop off your own food, or they can provide food for an extra fee. Make sure to check out the calendar of events. Periodically they will have themed picture days and your dog's picture will be taken during daycare. Our favorite so far has been the Hawaiian vacation pictures. The grooming option here is too convenient. I can drop my dog off for daycare all day on a workday, and just schedule a grooming for anytime during the day and at the end of the day I pick up a tired, clean dog. I also love to schedule grooming for the last day when I board my dogs. That way when they get picked up they smell/feel clean, not like other dogs. Our dogs don't require a cuts/trims, so I can't speak to that aspect of grooming. Now for the real testament of their service... over a weeklong holiday boarding, our large dog was bitten by another dog during daycare. We were on the other side of the country, so we had to rely on them handling everything while we were remote. Dogtopia called me as often as necessary to keep me informed; they emailed me pictures of the injury; they took him to the vet; they kept him separated in his own room until his wound improved and gave him TLC & medical treatment ... even allowing our other dog to visit; and they indulged my many questions about the incident and corrective actions. Obviously you can never be 100% sure another dog won't bite, until they do, but I was impressed by the investigation of the incident and felt very reassured that it would not happen again based on the actions Dogtopia chose to take. They obviously took this incident seriously and care very much for the welfare of the dogs entrusted to them. I would highly recommend Dogtopia if you can afford it. Dogtopia is just the absolute best. As a pet parent, it can be a little stressful leaving your pup with someone you don't know and trust. The employees at Dogtopia TRULY will love your dog like their own! My dog Scout gets SO excited when we pull up to the building and basically lets herself in so she can start her "best day ever." Kevin and Ashley are amazing - always happy to see us (Scout mostly, I'm sure!) and take such good care of her, both for daycare and longer boarding stays. They have cameras so you can always see what your dog is up to, and they will gladly give updates if you call when out of town. Great place to take your dog for a full or half day of daycare. I started taking my puppy to Dogtopia, Springfield and am happy with their services. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are clean. I like that they have webcams for "pawrents" to watch their dogs. They wipe the dogs down before going home, which is a nice extra benefit. It seems like my dog enjoys going here as he is extremely wiped out after even a 1/2 day of playing. read more

We love to support the charity washes and this one was very close to the home front! I have met Dogtopia owners at various pet feats and they were all very nice. This franchise is one that I had wanted to visit so attending a charity wash was an opportunity to take my visit. We brought both our shepherd mixes. The place was immaculate, it did not smell like wet or dirty dog, it smelled CLEAN. The staff was very friendly, flexible and informative. There are several play rooms, a nice huge lobby with a big screen tv so you view the rooms. They had 2 large fancy wash tubs in the from with a large View Window. Sure, this place is for the dogs, but it's pretty much a utopia for the humans that cater to the dogs. I'm not sure who was more excited to be there, but I can honestly say the workers there obviously love what they do. Happy workers = happy dogs! This review is for their front desk and grooming services. I called to inquire if they take walk-ins for grooming, but alas, they only do appointments, which is not a problem for me. They were able to get me in for a weekend appointment. As soon as I arrived, they checked me in quickly and Robbie the groomer came out to find out what I wanted done on my pups. Right off the bat, Robbie asked me all the right questions when it came to my grooming requirements. I've had problems at other dog grooming businesses where they just couldn't get what I was asking for, but Robbie honed in on my exact specifications. Before I left, he gave me a time estimate. He was so darn chipper! I appreciated the front desk's phone call a few hours later letting me know my dogs would be ready in 15 minutes. As soon as I arrived, my dogs were ready. The staff there were so friendly and genuinely sad to see my dogs go. They were so kind to hold onto my dogs' leashes and loved on them as I was checking out. One of the staff members was almost in tears as I departed with my dogs - she had become so enamored with my male pup the few hours he was there. All in all, it was the humans' obvious love for their jobs and their four-legged clients that won me over. My dogs came out clean, groomed, and obviously well-loved by the Dogtopia staff. I brought my dog here to try it out as we recently moved to Springfield. I also tested other dog daycare facilities. I loved the fact that they had webcams so I could watch my dog play. He was taken back to the playroom, and I left confident that he'd have a wonderful time, as he was a daily doggie daycare client at our previous location. There, he'd greet me enthusiastically after a fun day of play. However, when I picked him up from here, he was subdued. I later discovered that evening a large cut behind his front left leg. Not a scratch. Not a play mark. A large cut. I had not been informed of this when I picked him up. I was also concerned by what I saw on the webcam. Frequently, the staff in the playroom was focused on things other than the dogs. Only once did I see a staff member actively watching and playing with the dogs. I saw several instances where an overly excited dog was annoying other dogs (and they reacted accordingly) and should have been given some time out. My other area of concern was watching them hold the dogs back from the door with a large broom. They'd push the broom towards the dogs and hit it on the floor. This forced the dogs into a half-circle around the door. When I picked my dog up and asked about this they said that was how they kept the dogs from congregating by the door when someone new came in. I did not bring my dog back to Dogtopia, and found him another facility that he loves to go to, is always happy and tired when I pick him up, and I know without a doubt that my dog is being well supervised with his dog playmates. read more

I have had good experiences with Dogtopia. Springfield for several years until the last visit. My dog was on two medicines which they lost. I had provided the medicines and instructions, and I was told there would be no problem administering them. I also called twice to check in and was not told at any point that the medicine was lost. I could have arranged for it to be replaced if they had been upfront about losing it. I can not understand how the person who was in charge of administering the medicine could not question why it was missing as she was supposed to be dosed twice a day. There was a mad scramble to locate the medicine at pickup, and it was clear there was no central place to keep medicine or a clear procedure for returning it to owners. Our dog's vet put her on antibiotics right away because he was concerned her infection could progress, but her health was put at risk because of Dogtopia Springfield's clear negligence. That is simply unacceptable. It is unfortunate because she has had good experiences otherwise, but if a daycare can not be trusted to follow simple medical instructions I simply can not trust it going forward. To their credit Dogtopia Springfield did attempt to track down the medicine and comped the visit which will allow me to replace it today. They could not replace my dog through, and they put her at risk with their negligence. read more

My girl absolutely loves going to daycare and gets absolutely delighted, ears perked and tail wagging when I tell her it's time to go. I cannot say enough good things about Dogtopia. Our little guy, Hector gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot, he practically beats me to the front door. The staff is so friendly and professional and the space is very clean! They take incredible care of the pups - from telling you who they played with to whether or not they ate all their food. I need to drop off my dog on random days and I really like that I don't need to make reservations unless the day is close to a holiday. The staff seems to be very kind to my dog, and he always comes home happy, so I am at ease leaving him there. I love that I can check on him via camera although it seems like my dog often seems to lie down right under the camera, out of view. I hope they find a way to capture the entire room on camera! I take my dog to both Chantilly and Springfield, and have had good experiences at both. read more

I really wanted this to work. I was excited to bring my dog for the day but became progressively more concerned as the trial went on. 1) this place charges on evaluation day while most others give you a free trial day 2) this place smells terrible. Not so bad early in the day but knock you back clear your sinuses grotesque by the time I came to pick my dog up. 3) they turn the webcams off for 2.5 hours during "nap time". Makes me wonder why. Are they not wanting me to see how they get the dogs in the crates? Are they not wanting me to see them clean- or not clean as the case lay be? It's weird. 4). They do not like a tour of the facility- shady. I will say everyone I dealt with was pleasant but that doesn't overcome the major negatives. The best part of the experience was learning what to look for in a good daycare, which I did find and couldn't be happier with! read more

We love Dogtopia! Before the Springfield Dogtopia opened, we were loyal customers of the Woodbridge one since 2010 - even though the drive to/from was pretty inconvenient. When we found out Amber (the owner) was opening a Dogtopia right down the road we were thrilled! Price-wise, you can't beat it. They have a variety of multi-day passes or you can pay by the visit. The space is brand new and there is plenty of room for dogs of all sizes. Our goofy lab gets to play in the gym with pals that are similar in size & play style. There is separate space for smaller, more mellow dogs. They have webcams in each room so you can check in to see what your dog is up to during the day. It's great for when you have to board overnight for a trip and want to see how they're doing. All dogs have to be evaluated before starting daycare, so you know that there won't be any aggressive dogs in the mix. They keep track of vaccinations to make sure everybody is up to date with their shots too. We haven't taken advantage of it at the Springfield location yet, but they have a big doggie "spa" area for baths and nail trims (self serve or staff). The staff is great - it's obvious they all love dogs. I always get a kick out of catching a staff member giving my dog a big old hug on the monitor when we go to pick him up. read more

Originally, we booked a stay at another place for our dog over the holidays. However, their water pipe bursted and couldn't have our dog stay there, and referred us to Dogtopia. Thankfully, they were able to take our dog in at last minute, like the day before we left the town. My husband said the people there are friendly. However, it ended with such a disappointment. We came back to pick our dog up... and she had a huge scab on her nose. An employee explained that she's been trying to get out of the crate at nights. I was appalled because I did not know about this until we picked her up. My thoughts are: why didn't they call us?! Probably, we could have figure out together to make sure that doesn't keep happening. I don't know why they didn't call us, but it wasn't okay for us. I didn't say anything because it was a long day of traveling and I had a baby with us, so I just wanted to go home. People are nice and friendly. And the place is nice, too. I just wished the situation would have been handled differently. I'm not too inclined to return my dog there for the future visit. read more

Whatever you do, make sure you stay on top of them for any medical updates that they need for your dog because they *will not* remind you. And when you arrive for your boarding reservation, they will send you home in quite the pickle when you're heading out of town. I should have listened to my gut when we went for the initial evaluation because, looking back, something felt off but I couldn't place. The breakdown: Apparently our dog's bordetella was due around July 14th. Our dog attended daycamp on July 17th and August 7th. No mention of an out of date vaccine. On August 7th, we even made boarding reservations - no mention of anything. We arrive for his boarding reservation in late August prior to heading out of town for the weekend and the hammer was dropped: "We can't accept him because his bordetella is out of date. If it was within 14 days, we can waive this but it's over a month." Me: "So whey did you accept him on August 7th? That is outside of your window." Person: "Oh someone must have overlooked that." Me: " So, that same person (which ironically was the same person this conversation occurred with) never mentioned anything when I made the boarding reservation on August 7th. And now you guys are hosing our weekend plans?" Person: "Oh that shouldn't have happened." As you can see: great (sarcasm) customer service. Listen, I see my fault. I should've put this in to my google calendar (since we didn't get anything til yesterday from the vet as a reminder... yup, on to a new vet). But we also live in a busy world where both parents work, kids have activities, life is BUSY. We pay a ridiculous amount of money to this facility for daycamp and boarding. The very least they could do is remind us of things that will help us keep our stay there running smoothly. And they failed. Terrible customer service. We won't ever be going back to this location. They ruined our weekend getaway because they cannot get it together. read more

For almost 3 years I have had the comfort of leaving my pet in the hands of a lovely and professional team. They have made sure that he is cared for in many occasions and not only that I know that any of the pets that come in they get to have activities in which they don't get caged up and forgotten.My big lump Nicko enjoys very much the time that he gets when he is visiting this place; I wish we had a Dogtopia like this near our home in North Brentwood, MD since we moved out from the area. This is and always will be the only place I feel comfortable enough to leave my pet not only for boarding but also for daycare. Couldn't find prices online so had to call in, which kind if bothered me but it is what it is. I left a message and got a call back within an hour, nice!!! Amber was EXTREMELY NICE and PLEASANT to talk to. After finding out what I wanted done for my doggy and what breed she was I was told a price. $55 isn't bad at all for a wash, nail trim, haircut, ear and teeth cleaning. I had to call back to see my work schedule next week and when I called back it was another very pleasant conversation. So far, based on two different conversations, there seems to be people working there who genuinely care for others. read more

Long overdue kudos for Dogtopia! They take great care of our dogs and have free streaming videos to watch the dogs play. They always answer the phone and always know exactly my two fur babies are in the room. Super flexible hours and my dogs love the handlers. I love that they have windows to see into the grooming area and they show every room on their tour, even the janitor closet! Worth the price of daycare and boarding, have great multi pass programs and just an overall warm and fuzzy feeling when I leave my dogs with Dogtopia! Can't wait to visit again! read more

Horrible! I'm guessing a lot of the 5 star reviews here are SELF-entered because my experience was awful! I called on a Mon. in the a.m. and wanted to see if they could trim my dog's nails. The person on the phone told me 'Come in between 12 and 2 if you can ad that's when we're least busy'.. I said OK, thanks. I went close to 3 on that same day. When I told the counter person who I was, she said, 'Oh, you missed your 12:30 appointment so we won't be able to do your dog's n WARil's now.' I told her I didn't have an appointment, and I repeated verbatim what the phone person told me earlier, to 'just 'come in between 12 and 2 if you can... As I said this, the door opened and another little dog (my dog is little) came in the door. My dog was close enough to the door to touch noses with the other little dog but before she could, the Dogtopia person grabbed my leash from me and yanked, and I mean really YANKED my dog by the collar/leash and practically hung her in the air by her neck doing so! I grabbed the leash back from her and said,'What are you doing?? Don't pull her like that!' to which she snottily replied, 'We can't have dogs greeting each other in here!'. Unbelievable! You would have thought 2 pit bulls were about to fight! My dog is very old and little and the dog coming in the door was no bigger than mine. There was no growling or hint of a problem. They were about to touch noses and that's it. I had a good hold on my leash. ! First they tell me I missed an appointment, which I did not and then she does that to my dog! I would NEVER take my dog here. BE WARNED!!!! Imagine how they treat your dog when you are NOT present. I've been to several Dogtopia locations and this one is, by far, my favorite. I really love this place! The employees here are always very helpful and friendly. When I left him over the holidays, they made a very cute tree ornament with his picture-a nice touch. When I expressed my concern about the fact that he's gotten cradle nose in the past, they told me that they would place him in a different crate. He stayed in the kennel for nearly a week and did not come back with any issues. I have driven miles out of my way to take him to the Springfield location and will continue to do so when I require boarding/day care. read more
