Unfortunately, I have to update my review that I had posted before. I want to be extremely clear why despite having decent deals and what I found to be an easy experience I cannot recommend a purchase here. This review assumes that there is no malfeasance on the part of 5 Star Motors. However, even with a good knowledge of vehicles, tons of research, a post inspection, plus having my car to the Cadillac dealership (Cadillac purchase) with the vehicle is "OK" in all of our minds plus a "clean" Carfax; I am now finding things force me to change my review to not recommend for the average buyer (you need a car to get you to and from work reliably). To be clear, my vehicle runs and runs as I expected for what I was buying. I got lucky, maybe. The vehicle has a replaced motor. So, I'm left to assume that what 5 Star purchases and sells is not thoroughly checked and if it is checked you're not going to be given a straight forward assessment of what you are purchasing. Unless you ask extremely specific questions they are not going to tell you what they know, if they actually know anything about what they are selling. If you read my previous review you'll see I planned for a lot of repairs to have a sound vehicle. If you cannot do this then you should not buy here. Your purchase here is a gamble, a risky gamble that you will have to prepare to lose out on. Reminder, "clean" Carfax. Could you be like me, lucky? Again, TO BE CLEAR, I'm not saying there is malfeasance in my case. But, I did purchase a vehicle that had multiple inspections and still found that there was a major repair to my car that was not shown on the Carfax. This is the risk that you're going to run when purchasing a vehicle here. Don't trust the Carfax. Ask as many detailed questions as possible AFTER A PRE-INSPECTION. YOU MUST HAVE a pre -purchase inspection done if you really want to roll the dice here, if you don't this is your fault. I wish you the best. If you purchase, I hope you don't your vehicle doesn't crap out. I bought my car as a 3rd vehicle that was not needed for daily driving. A vehicle for fun. Is this you? I rarely write reviews on Yelp, so take that into consideration when reading this review for Five Star Motor Sports. (They're worth the time to write this) I was in the market for a new vehicle this year, and was very hesitant to reach out to a dealership due to the horror stories you tend to hear, but that was not the case for Five Star Motor Sports. TEST DRIVE SESSION: The test drive was great, since I was able to drive it alone with my boyfriend. I could freely discuss what I thought about the car with my boyfriend without the pressure of a dealer in the back seat trying to sell to me the whole time I was driving, or when I wanted to inspect the vehicle. POST-TEST DRIVE DISCUSSION: When I was done test driving, Fred willingly answered all of my questions, and provided all the paperwork for work done on the car since it was in their possession. I was honestly prepared to deal with the stereotypical dealer (pushy salesman), but was almost set back by how laid back and zero BS Fred gave me. PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTION: Even though they showed me all the paperwork, I felt it better to still get a PPI, and Fred was very accommodating. Since I came from 30min+ out of town, I was not able to take the car to a dealer on my own during my work day. However, Fred happily arranged to have the car dropped off by their staff while I coordinated the appointment and payment with the Toyota dealership remotely. The PPI went well, and Fred made it easy for me to place a hold on the car with a CC deposit. PURCHASE: The car was an overall great deal, and I ended up paying just a little under the listing price (with a small amount of negotiating). I didn't end up doing a loan or payment plan, but it's worth noting that Five Star offered many options for payment. Fred kindly dealt with me remotely by sending me pictures of the paperwork and the remaining balance, and I was able to come and pick it up on the weekend without any fear of it being taken before then. When I arrived, all of the paperwork was ready for me to sign, and the car was ready to go. I also really appreciated that they didn't try to pile on any confusing warranties or add-ons. The price we discussed after the test drive was the price on the ad, and what I ended up paying. Everything was very smooth and easy! It almost felt wrong or like I was forgetting something, but rest assured, all the "T"s were crossed, and "i"s dotted. (I got the title in the mail from them a month later). I also wanted to note that I got to meet Al briefly on pickup day, and he was very pleasant and personable. He also took a photo of us with the car since I was so excited. NOW: It's been over 2 months since the purchase, and I have safely made several long distance trips, added over 3K miles, and the car has given me zero problems. "Sara Smith" is the customer relations manager, she is rude and treats people as if they are illiterate. Fred, is even worse. The way they speak to potential customers on the phone is disappointing too say the least. My husband was looking for a work truck, something used to add to his business. We saw a small used truck. He wanted to purchase it with cash, then decides to see what their payment/ loan options were. We thought that we could process the numbers over the phone and decide, rather than driving down to them. Sara called my husband and spoke to him as if he knows nothing (he's a home owner, business owner, vehicle owner...ect). He let her know that he was aware how things work and just wants to get the numbers/options before driving down there. She was very rude, not helpful. fred bani from 5 star motor sports bought our business' work van that was supposed to be salvaged for parts and took the license plate off of the van and put it on another van. they have been driving that van with our expired license plate and tags all around los angeles and san bernardino. they got a parking ticket and now 2 toll charges off of 2 different toll lanes and because they never registered the license plate, all the violations and tolls are now coming to us. five start motor sports is a bunch of crooks. read more

I would have probably purchased the vehicle had you been available. You need to Train Fred on the basic tenents of Professional Business Accumen. They gave me a fair price for my trade in, financing was quick and easy. 3 weeks later my new car wouldn't go into gear. Had to have my car towed and the clutch needed to be replaced. There were no signs of this at the time of purchase and to be fair I don't believe that 5 Star had any idea this would happen. However, I left a key card in my old car and texted Fred the day after purchase to see if he could mail it to me- no response. I emailed less than a month after purchase to tell him about the clutch failing and the cost of repairs. I asked if there was anything they could do to help or if they were obligated to help considering this was a major repair less than 30 days later (and less than 500 miles later). No response. Even if they weren't liable for this, a simple email back saying "I'm sorry this happened, but all sales are final blah blah blah" would have been nice. They're nice people on the surface, but once a deal is done you'll mean nothing to them and you're on your own. read more

From the beginning I had a strange experience with this place. I called multiple times to set up an appointment and had no luck with anyone answering, I decided to just show up anyway and was helped by a very nice guy Jamal. He went above and beyond to help and was extremely welcoming. He explained however that he's not the one who specializes in the financing process, so to come back the next day and see a guy named Peter. I made an appointment for the following day and was looking forward to coming back. The next day i go back and ask for Peter and this guy Fred stepped in and stated he would be helping instead. Fred was extremely rude and un welcoming, he didn't even bother asking my boyfriend for his name and just sat us down and started asking me for my information to run my credit. I explained to him that my boyfriend wanted to check out the car first and that I wanted to speaking about my options first as I understand my credit is not in the best standing at the moment. He immediately became even more upset and gave us more attitude. After waiting 45minutes for them to bring the car for me to test drive (even though we had an appointment they should've been expecting us with the car), we finally test drove the car again and decided to pursue with the application process. Fred explained to me it was already late so the banks would be closed, however he would get back to me the following day around noon with an answer.... WELL noon comes around the next day and no call, so I call him and someone else answers and says he will call me back..... it's now been a week and I haven't heard back from them at all. This has been a very unprofessional experience, as a business regardless of what the outcome was from the application he should've reached out to keep me updated on what happened. I'm very upset that he couldn't even have the courtesy to pick up the phone and call. The dealer said "I stand by my product" but sold us a car that they had just cleared the check engine light on (I forgot my OBD scanner unfortunately). Of course it came on after we drove it away. We had to go back anyway to install a side view mirror control knob that was broken previously and was agreed upon to be fixed and the dealer sent us to a mechanic for the fix and to ask about the light. The mechanic not only dinged the door installing it, he likewise cleared the check engine light and said "let us know if you have any more problems." When the light came back on, there was ANOTHER error code on top of the previous one. This is scam behavior. When you say "I stand by my product" knowing you just cleared a check engine light and then when you get called out on it, and send us to a mechanic who does the same thing because he's in on the scam too, you're sitting on a throne of lies, not standing behind your product. We almost had a good experience. Car seemed to be in good condition, it was a decent deal, it would have been amazing to just walk away and have no problems. But as with all used car salesman, caveat emptor. I would not recommend these guys. Update: Even more problems with the vehicle. They clearly knowingly sold us a lemon. I wouldn't even trust the other reviews unless they wrote them a month or two after they had the vehicle. Stay away! Another update after their response comment: it's been about six months so unless you're still willing to help fix this vehicle, your words are empty. Also, you did refer us to a reliable mechanic. And that mechanic dinged the door and cleared the codes without actually fixing whatever the codes were on for. Clearly you didn't read the review. I'm all for you making this right: you can either install this power steering rack I had to buy to fix a pre-existing issue for free, or giving some money back to compensate. I had a great experience with purchasing a Tesla from Fred and his team! Due to an emergency, I had to travel down, test drive the car, hoping that it didn't have any issues, hand over the check and drive back all in the same day. I spoke with Fred multiple times before I came to drive the car and he told me that he had taken it to a service center to have everything checked out before hand so that there would be no surprises when I test drove it. After we discussed via telephone that we had a deal and set a price, again under the assumption I was happy with the car's condition, I appreciate that he didn't sell the car out from under me as there was a lot of interest in the vehicle or try to raise the price. When I got there, I appreciated that the car was freshly washed and cleaned on the inside. The car even came with new ties at no extra expense to me! Again, he could have easily tried to change the price on me to make me foot the price of new tires, but he stayed true to the price we negotiated on. Due to my tight schedule, he had the contract all ready to go so all I had to do was sign it. This was my first Tesla vehicle and I had read about changing ownership over in the app requires a few days and during this time I may not be able to use the supercharger network as it doesn't know who to bill. Fred allowed me to leave the car linked to his account until I returned home before he switched me to the owner so that I was able to charge and return home safely. It was only about $30, but I was still very impressed by his willingness to work with me, provide excellent customer service and be extremely flexible. 5 Star Motor Sports is a small, luxury dealership, but I'm more comfortable buying a car from a small business to support them during COVID, but I also feel smaller dealerships are much more reasonable with their pricing. This was certainly the case with Fred. I would definitely give them my business again. read more
