Firestone Brake Service Review…read more I recently had my vehicle serviced at the Firestone location on Imperial Highway in Brea, California, where I had a complete brake job performed on all four wheels. Unfortunately, just a few days after the service, my wife noticed a rattling noise coming from the front-left wheel. I brought the vehicle back to Firestone to have it inspected, and the technicians determined that a bolt was missing from one of the brake calipers on the front-left side. This was the source of the rattling and, in my opinion, represents a serious safety concern. Additionally, the technicians discovered that the lower front-end cover had not been properly bolted back into place and was hanging underneath the vehicle. For work involving a vehicle's braking system, I expect a much higher level of attention to detail and quality control. Having a missing caliper bolt and an unsecured underbody cover after a brake service is unacceptable and could have potentially resulted in a dangerous situation. I would strongly encourage anyone having work done here to carefully inspect their vehicle and double-check that everything has been properly secured before leaving the shop. While the issue was eventually identified, the quality of the initial work was concerning, particularly given that it involved a critical safety component of the vehicle.

As a first-time customer, I brought my '79 El Camino to this shop because the car was idling high…read more After the service, I paid $500. They replaced my intake manifold gasket, BUT a P0200 engine code appeared afterward. I went back the next day and explained the issue. They told me they had left an injector unplugged and instructed me to clear the code, saying it would reset. The code was P0200, so I followed their instructions and cleared it. The code went away. The next day, I drove the car and it suddenly started shaking while sitting at red lights -- something it had never done in the five years I've owned this car. I checked the engine codes again, and P0200 had returned. I went back again and explained what I had experienced. They then told me that, in order to address the P0200 issue, they would first have to start by checking for vacuum leaks. This is where I became frustrated. P0200 is an injector circuit malfunction code, so I didn't understand why I was being told that I needed to start with vacuum leaks in order to address that specific code. I had already paid $500 for the initial service, and now I was dealing with a new engine code and a new shaking issue that the car had never had in the five years I've owned it. After declining any further service, I picked up my car from the shop. I then noticed a scratch along with a missing piece of rubber trim on my front bumper. I had not noticed either issue before bringing my car to the shop. The shop claimed they did not hit anything with the car, but they are also ordering me a replacement rubber piece. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience. As a first-time customer, I came in expecting to have my original issue addressed, paid $500 for the service, and left with a new engine code, a new shaking issue, and damage/missing trim that I had not noticed before bringing the car in. Based on my experience, I won't be returning. I would recommend that anyone considering this shop be aware of what happened to me and carefully inspect their vehicle before leaving the shop. These older vehicles have required more maintenance/service as they've aged over the years. Bentley work has included starter motor replacement, twin turbo replacement (both), radiator, and the required and scheduled oil-filter maintenance. Spark plugs, etc on the longer intervals have been performed as per manual instructions. Likewise, the CLK350 has been maintained and serviced meticulously over the years as scheduled. Not only are the vehicle service visits far lower costs than from their respective dealers, but lower overall then competing qualified auto mechanic shops---- but the trust I have with the mechanics at Brea Auto Repair is not equal, as they are more than qualified to service these cars. I rarely rate any business a 5/5 but this is the one exception I will make. I highly recommend this vehicle repair facility to meet and exceed anyone's expectations.

They're very transparent about pricing and will fix issues if it is their fault. Earlier in the year I had an issue where my car started to overheat as I left the shop and they came to my home and brought coolant and were able to drive it back to the shop and diagnose the issue and fix it. They were willing to reimburse me if I had to get a rental car, but luckily were able to figure out the cause that same day. Jose is always very helpful and easy to talk to. He's dropped me off home a couple of times from the shop. Gabriel is very direct and transparent about pricing. They are very on top of what they do. When I asked why it was so high, they mentioned it included some kind of "warranty" with the oil change. That didn't really make sense to me for such a standard service and felt more like an upsell than actual value. I'm all for paying a fair price for good work, but for something as routine as an oil change, I expected pricing to be at least competitive with a dealership...not significantly higher. Ended up going elsewhere.
