I love them! I suggest to make an appointment before you go in to make sure you aren't waiting too long. Due to COVID they're only taking appointments. In a small town full of fiery Latina women, there are bound to be nail salons in every corner. This has been my favorite nail salon for the past 5 years. The staff is super friendly (family run) and not too talkative; perfect for those days where you just want to relax and read some celebrity gossip. Yes, the inside is a bit lackluster, but the quality of work is there. They have CND and OPI shellac mani's, which are hard to come by. Dropped in for a quick full set they sat me at chair 4 (Mexican lady with super fried yellow blonde above shoulder length hair) her name may have been Eva. Anywho she asked me what I wanted I told her she didn't seem very confident so I asked for basic nude long tapered square nails she never held conversation. Her work was so sloppy & inconsistent, she proceeded to file and not just my nails but my fuckin SKIN so I told her your filing my skin as another worker walks by she ask what's wrong in Spanish she goes on to say I want them straight but I'm complaining, Um ok? Was I not supposed to? She was huffing and puffing with attitude so I said just stop I was done and did not want her to finish the other Hispanic with glasses wants to fix it I told her I was good I was at this point ready to go. She apparently spoke to the owner who wanted to charge me to remove this whack ass of a job no thank you I shouldn't have to pay for your employees sloppiness! From one boss to another you handled that the shittiest! I left with my nails half clipped my skin filed acrylic all over my skin & my nail under skin ripped! I have just recently moved to the McAllen area and have been trying to find a nail salon since I've arrived. I have tried 2 other salons and was not pleased with some part of the service at both. I came to 5 Star on the recommendation of a stranger and I'm so glad I did. My pedicure was very & professional, Kenny did a great job. Jenny did my nails and my waxing and she did a fabulous job also. It was quiet and pleasant and clean and I really like that. Got a pedicure and acrylic nails ... worst job ever . The girl recommended coffin so I got them and quite frankly they don't even look coffin shaped , actually I'm not even sure what shape they are. I got my pedicure done first then I was told to go straight to getting my hands done which lasted about 45 mins so I assume she thought my toes would dry by the time we were done. They weren't . I will never be coming back here again. Don't waste your time here go somewhere else . read more

A bit pricey but it's the only place that does S &S. The staff is nice especially Jenni the wait is very minimal 15-20 tops IF you even have to wait. Definitely my new favorite place! They wax as well, it seems like they have more clients for waxing then for nails. read more

Charged for a redo on 4 nails that started breaking off within a week. Jenny refused to honor a redo because of a three day policy... obsurd! I've had HEB glue on nails last longer!! Rude service, whispering and laughing with her employee while washing my hands and stopped immediately when I returned... I was the only customer there so what else were they talking about... she had something to say but not directly to me....seemed very rude and...no respect for a customer!! Not impressed from my last experience there. I had a pedicure done, and the polish looked as it was polished crooked. My dip polish on my nails cracked in a week, when it's supposed to last up to 2 1/2 weeks. I was given slippers to walk over to a table. The slippers had old polish. Unsure if these slippers were used or just polish had dripped on them...either way should not have been given to a client. Definitely, in need of some upgrades and a clean sweep. read more

I have gone to five star before and they are usually a bit kore professional and have better customer service. I went in for dip polish and a pedicure and was so frustrated. First off there are only two technicians available that could do acrylic and dip and they were trying to juggle 5 customers at a time. I was almost done with my dip polish and she could t even finish it. She told me to go get started on my pedicure. But the man who did my pedicure did a bad job on the polish. The strokes weren't even and I had to ask him to do an extra coat. Finally when I'm having my pedicure dried she puts hw shine coat over my dip, but screws it up because she's so worried about her other 5 ladies she's trying to attend too. Safe to say they didn't satisfy me at all. If I were them I would be more worried about quality then trying to sit everyone down at once. Nothing wrong with having to wait, customers will come back if you give them a quality service. read more

Literally left the salon in tears. I went in and asked for a full set, and was told about some other product, I didn't really understand but she kept pushing it so I trusted her. She's going on and on about how great this product is so I ask how much... $50. Really?? Shouldn't you lead with that? But I kept my mouth shut and as she kept going I realize this isn't what I want at ALL. My nails were basically going to be the length of my fingers. Looking like a 9 yr old. So I say wait wait this isn't what I want, and the lady gets ALL upset and rude. "Lady, I asked you!" I said yea "lady" but you didn't explain and this isn't what I want. So she grabs my hand and starts filing my nails all upset. So I pulled my hand away and was like you know what I don't want it after all, thank you. And she's like "well you hAve to pay for the manicure (that she bullied me into getting) so I pull out my card and she's like no! No card under 20! I said well if you want to get paid take it, that's all I have. She said fine! And huffed over to the cash register. I literally started crying (it's been a rough week, this was the last thing I needed) Then says "you think I'm bring rude but I'm not, j told you!" This was my favorite place until today. I used to live close by and so it was convenient and I liked the service. I would always get my nails done by the same person. But to have my nails done by this person I always needed to make an appointment. So yesterday I made an appointment for today. Mind that I have recently moved and now live 25 minutes away. I was willing to drive 25 minutes just to have my nails done there. The girl on the phone confirmed that I have an appointment today with so and so at a certain time. I'm a busy person and keeping the agreed upon time is imperative! So I came in today 20 minutes early just in case. I said that I have the appointment with so and so. The same girl I talked on the phone with yesterday picks up the phone and calls the person who is supposed to do my nails. Then she tells me that the person is not going to be here until 2 hours later!!! I was shocked and she dares to tell me that when I called yesterday I did not specify that I wanted that particular person to do my nails. She continued to ask if I wanted to reschedule to come back in 2 hours... Seriously?! I said that I did in fact specify that I wanted that particular person and that she confirmed it over the phone. The girl did not even apologize for her own mistake. Talk about being extremely disappointed! My time is very valuable and so I just walked out. I'm going to look for another nail salon with a better customer service. Will never be going there again. read more
