We've acquired them twice now for the same problem of unclogging our master bedroom toilet. They do a thorough job and explain what is being done. We will call them again for the toilet clog. The good: responsive, hard working and honest The bad: left my landscape in terrible disarray with rocks on a tarp moved to my front yard and a muddy mess where the digging occurred in back They employed casual labor to do the digging without supervision which caused multiple delays in this work The story: hired Ricky to help with a stopped up drain in the guest bath .... And a slow bathtub After a couple of emergency visits, it appeared that digging ( and an additional $ 3100 was needed as the two 350 visits were not successful, none of which I refuted) They sent diggers who didn't do the job They sent more diggers who maybe did the job Ricky was supposed to have a supervisor come look. ( did he?) But was I was left to supervise their subs Days later, after this spot repair wasn't successful and I paid The problem with the tub and guest bathroom was unresolved I still do not have information about what to do Nor did I see the supervisor, a cleaned up site or information to send to Keith zars pool ( who may be the root cause of these issues) Hope to be able to update this review if five star ever gets back to me Updated review The team from five star returned to fix the mess and apologize for the poor communication They will be my pick to complete this plumbing project read more

Needed a sewer unclogged from my parents rental unit. After using two drain cleaning rotor rooter individuals who both tried and failed, I was told by a couple of larger companies they were too busy and couldn't come out until a few days. I've recently left the paid workforce and am now the full time domestic engineer, slowly tackling the huge "some day we'll get to that", aka "round tuit" list. Slow draining bathroom sink was project dujour few days ago. When my respectable DIY skills failed me, I began looking for a reputable plumber, having been through quite a few in the past. I'm DELIGHTED to say I think we finally have a keeper! Rickey called on his way to our house, and he LISTENED as I described what I'd done thus far and why I thought a drain camera could be a good idea. He agreed, stopped for the camera, came to the house fully prepared to get the job done in one visit (small "YAY!" here). As he worked he patiently and thoroughly answered my numerous curiosities. It all made sense, and I never once felt hoodwinked, or talked down to, a HUGE pet peeve, especially being female. I was ready to go ahead with hydro jet clearing our drain lines, and he suggested that he didn't feel it was necessary now, and if we did have it done, few years down the road would make more sense. I can't remember the last time somebody told me to hold on to my money (huge "YAY!" here). I'd feared this would be a plumbing nightmare when I had to call in a professional; it turned out to be relatively small potatoes, with us finding a "keeper" plumber along the way. We own a rental property in San Antonio and we received a call from a tenant at approximately 8:00 PM stating there was a large water leak at the "water box" near the street. We recently had this same large water leak so we were frantic to get it fixed asap so our tentants weren't without water for a couple of days...again :( We called multiple plumbers, most of which never returned our call until the next day. The others couldn't tell us an ETA, which we desperately needed so we could inform our tenants. After reading another yelpers review, we decided to call Five Star Plumbing. First kudo, they answered our phone call! Michael immediately took down our information and said he'd relay the message to the plumber asap. My husband was en route to the property (about a 50 minute drive) and after just a short 5 minute wait, David the plumber arrived! He was polite and professional. David quickly determined the issue (possible faulty part installed at the last repair) and had our tenants' water service up and running in about 1 hour! We were so thankful and relieved! I must have been lucky that day, when I called Five Star, these guys are good and most important very reasonable in quoting the job and sticking to it. But they also do not have TV. Commercials with their families and taking it out on the costumer to pay for them. Service man was very professional and courteous,quoted the job and stuck to it. 90 day warranty also.They were also concerned about finding and recommending another company to repair sheet-rock after they were done (plumbing leak in wall). DON'T OVER PAY. There are other good plumbing companies that do not make TV. commercials. read more

Bad advice almost cost us $1700. The technician was David and seemed courteous; he arrived after only a days notice. We had him evaluate our tankless water heater since some of the faucets weren't igniting the water heater. After turning on a few faucets he came to the conclusion that we needed a new tank water heater and installed for $1700. No recommendations of maintenance, replacing of filters, nor adjustments of settings. He tried to communicate to my wife that there was a water flow problem and we would not be able to get the tankless water heater to work. Being 9-months pregnant she was upset since she wanted the work completed as soon as possible; I told her to tell them we'd get a second opinion since that just didn't seem right. After about 10 minutes of research online we found that there is a knob right on the front of the tankless water heater that adjusts the sensitivity of the water flow which causes the water heater to ignite. Evidently someone in the house had bumped into it. A slight adjustment of the knob and all faucets began working again as they had been for the last 10 years. Also replaced the filters which cost around $11 for good measure. Please be cautious when dealing with this company especially if you expect expert advice regarding tankless water heaters. I won't say this company is predatory, but the experience had all the hallmarks. read more
