I brought a table lamp asking to repair the end of the cord - the wire was worn out near the plug. The receptionist was very nice and polite but she quoted me $77 and I said that it was too expensive, then Bill came explaining how extensive the work would be. I brought in my lamp that I thought was unfixable, the dimmer was shot and I thought I would have to say my goodbyes. After bringing it into the store of a quick diagnostics, they were so knowledgeable of what I needed and went over and above to get the needed parts to make it good as new! They were very clear on the timeline of when the parts would come in which took a couple weeks due to them sourcing special parts from the US, and called me as soon as they came in and were able to get the job done asap! Very shady business practice. I told the owner my lamp socket was loose and bulb wouldn't turn on. Also I had a table fan that needed lubrication. He immediately told me it was $10 deposit for each item to look at. I asked if he could listen to the fan and possibly quote me repair cost since I didn't want to pay more than I did for the fan. He proceeded to plug the fan in to hear the problem. He then informed me the bearings needed lubrication (which I have no problem fixing and paying for). Then I put lamp on the counter where I noticed it came unthreaded under the shade and tightened it in front of the owner. I then asked if he could plug it in to see if I discovered the problem hopefully saving myself embarrassment of leaving a perfectly good lamp for no reason and some money. The owner refused to plug in the lamp citing concerns for power surging. I asks why the fan posed no threat however the lamp did. He had no answer. I took my fan and lamp and informed him that not plugging it in seemed a little peculiar and that I did not want to do business with him. Sure enough when I got home my lamp worked perfectly. This place is strange. They once supplied me with some rare oil. And they are a rare repair shop in Toronto. But I have a pressure washer in with them that I delivered to them in August 2010. It's pushing February 2011 and they still haven't gotten back to me, even after several phone calls and emails. Their excuse is parts delivery. The fact that it's pricey as well doesn't help. read more

It's an interesting little shop and they do lots of different repairs. I've been in a few times to get parts and Bill knows his stuff. He's nice, knowledgeable and honest. I also think its nice that his wife is there with him all day, she smiles but is a very quiet Asian lady. Its a decent little shop, they are getting harder and harder to come by. read more

I took a lamp in to be rewired. It required a lamp inside the marble base and a switch for both. Bill and his assistant claimed it would be done in a week, a month later I went to pick it up and he "forgot" to put a switch on it, the harp wasn't replaced and the bottom did not have a piece of felt as was quoted for $75.00 Sure wish I had read the reviews before taking my lamp to this guy. I asked him to put a Led light in the base so that it would not have to be replaced and he told me they were not available... which is not true. Find somewhere else to get your lamp fixed. read more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! Took this guy over 2 months to fix my pressure washer. At first he indicated just a week. When I called after a week he said, the parts were on backorder, then I called after 2 weeks, he said the Manufacturer sent him the wrong diagram, then after 3 weeks indicated that the parts that were sent were wrong, then again another excuse about the wrong diagrams. All in all 2 wrong diagrams and 3 wrong parts. This guy is a total liar. Do not trust him with your equipment. Certainly his shop is overflowing as noted by the other reviewer, but that is only because this guy just holds on to the equipment for months. No apology on item pick up after 2 months. I wish we'd read these reviews before we dropped off our lamp. He's held it hostage a month now, after telling us the job would take a week - no explanations. I haven't much optimism he's going to fix it or that he's even looked at it. I guess we'll go rescue it and consider the $10 deposit the ransom. What a waste of time and money. :( read more
