Loved Flagstaff extreme experience, while I didn't personally go through the adult course others in my party did and enjoyed it while I spent the day chaperoning my 8 year old through the kids challenge course. As it was their first time, they started out very timid, the course took them about an hour the first time through and a lot of coaxing and reassuring, the second and third time through the kids course was done with more confidence and faster with each run. I can't wait to go back and do the adult course and my child keeps saying they can't wait to turn 12 to go up to the top of the trees! Finally! After intending to do so for about 8-10 years, finally this summer I was brave enough to try Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course. I had a blast! The courses are a lot of fun, some more fun than others, LOL... some very challenging and others plain tricky or scary. On my first attempt, in terrible shape, I was able to do a little bit past half (almost finished the 3rd course) and I will definitely be back. I plan to come visit at least once a year and plan to make it a bit or a lot further every time. I will also try the adventure course/zip line combo in the future, this time I only did the adventure course. In addition to the courses, the staff was super friendly and encouraging. Several times I found myself in a pickle and had to yell for a guide to come and help me and walk me through my conundrum. They all were super friendly and patient and indeed helped me figure out what I needed to do to keep going forward. As of now I am convinced I would have been able to finisih course 3, but I ended up getting out of there just in time to take a shower and meet a friend for lunch, LOL... so, I am confident I wil be able to finish 3 next time and continue with #4. If you have been considering it, go for it! Oh, and get gloves/water bottle or buy the gloves/hydration combo. I did buy it and ran out of water quite fast. Temperatures were close to 90 that day, I think. I will try to come back on a cloudy day with friendlier temperatures, that should help too. read more

We had a blast here when we visited! The staff were all amazing and incredibly helpful. We got just the adventure course (no zipline course) - but that more than filled up our entire afternoon and we were left plenty tired. As two adults, we were slightly nervous about that it would be tailored towards kids/teenagers, but it definitely wasn't: folks of all ages can have a lot of fun on this course. The course goes has 5 different levels - and the black (hardest) level is definitely a challenge. We're relatively fit people (regular running and indoor rock climbing) - and the course had us exhausted at the end (in the best possible way). I had a great time and would happily do this again. They do offer glove add-ons - and you can alos bring your own. I would recommend bringing some gloves because it definitely helps with grip. read more

We visited at the end of September, and it turned out to be much warmer than I expected. I had trouble reaching anyone by phone, but they were responsive to texts during business hours. We only made it through half of the Zipline course in two hours, so we switched to the High Ropes Course to make the most of our time before they closed at 6 PM. We completed three levels of the ropes course in about 1.5 hours. The first half of the Zipline course gradually increases in height, helping you get used to the altitude with shorter ziplines. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to reach the longer ziplines in the second half. While we got rain checks for the remaining levels of the High Ropes Course, they didn't offer any for the unfinished portion of the Zipline course. They sell refrigerated bottled drinks on-site, and I highly recommend bringing thin, grippy fingerless gloves like the ones I got on Amazon. Also, consider buying their bottled water with a carabiner to clip onto your harness--it's super convenient! read more

This place is extraordinary, super awesome, spectacular, amazing, stupendous... Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course has it all figured out from soup to nuts. For my husbands birthday I surprised him with a getaway and little adventure, and this hit the spot. We did the zipline course and it was nothing short of magic in the trees! We zipped for 3 hours and loved every second of the wind in our hair and the smell of the pines. The rush of endorphins was a blast and the fact that it's a self guided course makes you feel like somewhat of a badass! The ziplines get bigger and higher and there are various ladders and bridges to conquer along the way. The challenge course is supposed to be pretty great as well and I imagine we will tackle that on our next visit. Not only is this ridiculous fun and invigorating, but it's as safe as it possibly can be. When you arrive they put your harness on and everyone goes through the 15 minute training course complete with a how to rules video (normally I'm not a fan of rules but in this case I made an exception). After the video they teach you how to hook in and safely maneuver from zipline to zipline. There was never a moment in which I felt unsafe. They have staff positioned below to make sure everyone is properly zipping and there for any questions or concerns. They make sure all are having fun and even though they manage to monitor everything it doesn't take away from the self guided experience. You never really know they are there unless you need help or you transition to the next course. The prices are perfect for the quality of the courses, length of the adventure,, and professionalism of it all. The whole operation is impressive. I highly recommend taking a break from life and escaping to the land among the trees to have some fun and zip away! read more

We were excited to bring our son to this course during our camping trip, especially after a tough experience on a ropes course when he was younger. Unfortunately, this wasn't much better. Our guide, Adrian, seemed overwhelmed with the amount of kids, and when I tried to help my son understand the clips, Adrian told him, "Don't listen to her," and repeated exactly what I said. Later, when my son got overwhelmed and started crying, I tried to comfort him again, and Adrian repeated the same dismissive comment without knowledge of the situation. Telling a child not to listen to their mom in a dismissive way--is completely out of line. The course was fine, not very exciting, but the experience was ruined by poor customer service. read more

My 12 year old son and I had a fantastic time here recently. I booked the 8am slot for us which worked really well as there were only two other people and the weather was perfect (lightning later on that afternoon). They offer a regular adults course (12 years and up with accompanying adult) and a kids course for those under 12. When you arrive, you sign a waiver first, then they fit you with a harness. I purchased the "hydration and hands" package for a few extra dollars when I booked online which included fingerless gloves and a water bottle on a carabiner... and I highly recommend this as you will definitely want gloves! After that you go over to view the safety briefing video and then your guide instructs you on how to use the double clips on your harness and the zipline apparatus. Each person then goes through the practice line to ensure you can properly use the equipment. There are five different levels, each getting progressively higher and harder. The guides are below you and will offer verbal assistance if you want/need. My son and I had a great time going through the first four levels. A few of the obstacles were a bit intimidating and/or freaky because of the height coupled with the wobbliness, but we both only had one slip/fall the whole time, which was obviously caught by the harness (so you only "fall" by 1-2 feet at most.). We were both able to pull ourselves quickly back onto the course and continue but I wonder what happens if you are not able to physically pull yourself up and finish an obstacle, especially the higher up ones as you get to level four and five? Maybe the guides have to climb up to give you a hand? Anyway, after finishing four of the five levels and taking a break, we decided to turn the break into a finish for the day as we were both pretty wobbly from utilizing our muscles consistently from the first four levels (approximately 3 hours for us). We got some great photos and had a fabulous time. I was so proud of my 12 year old for being the first to go through the course for the day (he had to figure out the best way to navigate each obstacle himself and was giving me tips) and charging forward pushing past his comfort zone on something he had never done before. Had reservations for noon but was unsure of traffic or Flagstaff weather so we ended up getting there an hour early. Walked in expecting to mill around and staff asked if we had reservations. Saying yes and time she responded we could start early if ready . Hell yeah . Get a brief showing on different obstacles and shackle points , we start the course and I'm leading, o crap. I finish the first obstacle and start the next as I don't want to hold anyone up. We progress along and obstacles get tougher and higher . About an hour in , my daughter and I stop at obstacle end for a drink. Doing good . Tired but not exhausted and enjoying the views. I get about half way thru next obstacle when we hear the thunder. Staff swarm the course like ants. Having people get to exit points and bringing others down if needed help. I am in between. Staff member encourages me to quickly get to either side of obstacle. Not going back , I continue on. Get to other side , now exhausted as I transfer to exit cable. We are herded off of course as light rain starts. Lots of people at entrance waiting to start as we drink more water and watch the clouds. More people arrive as rain continues. We talk it over and call it a day. Next time I will schedule earlier and bring a big lunch. read more

We used this as a team building event during our staff meeting. Our ages ranged from 35-70 years old. This is a hard course but it's set up so that you can bail at any time. Most of us finished the 4th course, and four of our guys finished the 5th and most difficult course. It was definitely a fun day for team building. read more

It was our first time doing anything like this. 5 sets of obstacle courses getting progressively harder. He made it to red. I made it to silver...maybe start of blue. Fatigue and anxiety got the best of me with zip lining. I couldn't finish the course but what I did was fun. Strongly suggest not doing both on the same day. It was exhausting. Also suggest getting gloves. All staff members were great (except for this one moody employee who really seemed like she hated her life and job and was pretty rude.) Yesterday was the very first time taking my daughter to this place. We've been wanting to go for a very long time and we finally did it. I'm a little disappointed that they cut the course short due to the "incoming storm" that didn't even hit town until 1am. Our apt time was 1pm and they cut it at 3pm, before their closing time. My daughter was extremely upset she didn't make it to the final level, she feels shorted of the experience. The wait times just to get onto the next adventure was also quite a while. For the money you spend here, you expect to finish the course, or at least be offered another day to come back to finish if weather was truly an issue. It wasn't snowing while there, and she only had the very last course (black level I believe). She said she would have gotten a t-shirt if she successfully completely the course, which they shorted her that experience. Now for the technical stuff. She did say you have to clip yourself in quite a bit which was easy for her (she's 16) but I could see that the younger kids may struggle with it. You definitely need upper body strength to be able to do most activities also. The guide staff were very friendly and helpful, no complaints there at all. We hope to try this again in the springtime, to get the full experience. At that time I'm happy to update the review. With this experience alone, it gets 3 stars for her not being allowed to continue, and the facility not allowing her to come back to complete the last obstacle. They knew the weather was bad already, they could have rescheduled everyone for a later date to fully enjoy the course. read more

Our kids finally made it to the eligibility age range of 7-11, so we made it happen! The training requires a video, getting harnessed by a Flag Extreme worker, and doing a test run on their practice course located in the kid area. They had adults practicing there until they completed the clip-in process and then they could move on to the adventure or zip line courses. Our kids stayed (7yo and 9yo) at the kid area and were allowed to go through the course (like 11-12 obstacles) 3x for the $27 cost per kid. Considering that was about 2 hours worth (going 3x), I'd say it was worth the money and we'd definitely do it again. read more

The adventure ziplines course was so much fun! At ~$60 (they also offer student discount with ID) it is well worth the price for what you get: 3 courses with 30 zip lines total, bridges, and tall climbs. My partner and I are both extremely afraid of heights, but we were able to have a blast despite our fears. Standing on the platform looking down is way scarier than just getting on the zip line and letting it carry you. Our personal guide showed us how to use the equipment and instructed us on safety before taking us to start the self-guided course. I liked that you get to move at your own pace and figure it out yourself. But if at any point you want to quit or need help, our guide was there watching from the ground and gave us some tips. Each course gets progressively challenging and longer, so you can decide if you want to move onto the next course or not. Definitely wear gloves since you'll be grabbing onto ropes a lot. read more

Physically challenging. I'm 75 and have good legs and finished but exhausted. Wife with knee replacements wasn't strong enough for climbing up the ladders on the course. Very good staff and guides. FlagX is the perfect outdoor, social distanced activity to switch up the quarantine routine! It is a BLAST to be up in the trees, navigating obstacles and swinging across ziplines. It's kind of crazy how high up you are, but it doesn't feel scary -- the clips make you feel 100% secure the entire time. The guides are super helpful and friendly not only at the beginning but throughout the course as well. We ended up doing 4 of the 5 and definitely intend to go back to finish the black course one day soon. DEFINITELY pay for the gloves and water carabiner... This weekend we both did the advanced zip lines and it was one of the best experiences ever. I have also completed the adventure course and it was outstanding. The highlight of my tip in Arizona!!! Found this through GROUPON!! Staff are all friendly. I had to reschedule multiple times because of delays in my trip. The person emailing reply fast and is accommodating to when I had to change to a later time than was previously scheduled. I like how in August, Flagstaff weather was cloudy and cool the day I went. We did the Adventure Course Rope Course! I HIGHLY Recommend this if you want a work out and build team work. The Adventure Course includes zip lining too!! Ropes are sturdy. They start on time so make sure to be there 30 min earlier to set up and wear the safety gear. I forgot who was our instructor when she oriented us to the gear and obstacles course, but she was very thorough and told us to ask questions because we would have to do it on our own. There are 5 courses: Green, silver, blue, red, black GREEN = Minimum Elevation/Minimum Skill SILVER = Medium Elevation/Medium Skill BLUE = Medium Elevation/Medium/Advanced Skill RED = Advanced Elevation/Advanced Skill BLACK = Advanced Elevation/Advanced Skill Even though we didn't get to go all the way to the black course. My sister and cousin made it through the red course before the thunder/lighting stroke within 6 miles and everyone had to get out off and hurry to the building. The first group that started with us did make it through the black course. So it can be done! **TIP: I suggest when your group is at the training ground...make sure be the first in line because that's the order you'll be when you guys go on to start the Green Course. At the training ground, they make your group all wait until the last person finishes the training course before you start the Green Course. So every group goes in staggered** **Tip: you can't skip a course. you have to go by the order of green, silver, blue, red, black** **Tip: you can rest/restroom break after you finish any of the colored courses. The end of each course is when you go down a latter because the courses are not color coded, which I thought it was** The website stated it would take approx 3 hours to complete the whole course. I really like that there were workers watching each group and that the group is split with 4-5 people so if you have a big group, they can watch for safety. They also can help with tips of how to cross the obstacle if you're stuck and can't get out of it. I made it all the way to the Green Course. After you finish each course, you can get water and rest. After completion of the Green Course, I had to get down and go to the restroom and rest, which the staff also suggested. Didn't get to finish the rest because of the thunderstorm and rain that came suddenly. They told us we would have to wait 30 min after the last lighting/thunder before we are safe to continue where we left off. We couldn't wait that long because we had to head to Phoenix, Az and we weren't sure what time the last lighting strike would last. I had a friend who didn't participate and is totally fine. That person can come along and sit at the table benches that is in the course. There are multiple tables to set your drink/stuff if you don't have attachable water bottles. There are a few shaded areas. We were lucky because it wasn't sunny at 11am when we started. Plenty of shade all around us while we were going through each course. I wore a hat, but found that the hat can be in the way sometimes through the ropes. HIGHLY SUGGEST ---THINGS TO BRING!!
