Over the last year, Hubby and I have tried Flaherty's Fish Fry (both Thursday and Friday versions). It was just plain TASTELESS, as in devoid of any flavor other than oil. I've tried the Chicken French twice and YES it sucked both times. The chicken was dry and hard! The pasta was very OVER cooked. The sauce tasted like sugar and that was it. We still didn't want to give up on them, as they were a favorite of ours for so long. So our next try was to order take out. We got the Garlic Bread, Homemade Chili, Flag Burger with Fries, Sheppard's Pie, and the Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo Pasta. YES you can SCREW UP garlic bread. The bread was soggy with oil and the crust was tough and hard to chew! The chili was ok. Hubby makes it way better. I didn't even recognize the Sheppard's Pie when I took the lid off. It was this watery looking mess with a couple of strips of mashed potatoes across the top. I've never seen anything like it. I did hope it would taste better than it looked but NO such luck. The flavor was, at best, odd. Hubby is POSITIVE, and I agree 100% it was from a CAN!!!! We each took a couple of bites then into the trash it went. The Flag Burger was small but "edible". The Chicken Broccoli Alfredo looked ok, but the chicken was hard and dry, the broccoli was so OVER cooked it was hardly green!! The sauce was lacking a cheese flavor. It was also thrown in the trash. What happened to the Chef??? Did he leave and forget to TRAIN his replacement?? The kitchen as a whole is a mess. When I arrived to pick up my order it took the staff 12 minutes to unpack, go to the kitchen, repack, unpack and repack the bags with the CORRECT food order!!! I seriously have a PROBLEM with a wait person taking orders over the phone and just deciding to add cheese to your food when it was NEVER asked for, just because it COSTS MORE!! And DO NOT ask a customer if they want to swap fries for the chips, unless you LET THEM KNOW that it costs more. Is Flaherty's that DESPERATE for money that they have to resort to those kinds of TRICKS!!!! They should be ASHAMED to charge as much as they do for such poor quality food. Sadly we will NEVER be going there again. read more

White chicken chili with cheese! Amazing! I keep going back for more. Super cute outside patio area with water fall and lights for summer time!! Good popcorn always made in bar area. There are a lot of "regulars" here but I've never felt out of place when going. read more

Slow slow service in the dining room. Used to love the food but now seems less homemade and too retail/food chain style. Ordered an old favorite-nachos with chili. Chips are plain out of the bag. Chili was not hot, looked old, tasted blah and there was about two tablespoons full on the entire plate. No longer baked, just some microwave action. No lettuce, little bit of tasteless cheese, jar salsa. Husband had philly steak. Size was good but quality was freshly frozen from Swanson lol. Fries are cheap skinny plain guys. Friend had pork chops. Literally two plain boneless chops on a white plate with a tiny dish of applesauce. That's it. Not even a garnish. All food was mediocre warm. Plates cold. Take the old family pride out of the business and this is what you get. Save your money here and get the free popcorn and a drink and be on your way for a better meal. read more

First off I would have given this restaurant a 5 star rating if it wasn't for an obnoxiously loud man screaming "BIG BLUE" at the top of his lungs in the bar, I couldn't even enjoy my meal with his commentary on the football game. My ears are still ringing and i don't think I will be returning to this establishment. If you like frozen food that is pre breaded and premade then this is the place for you. The fish fry was horrible and cold. We have gone here multiple times and the food is the same! Bad. Beer selection is good and soup is good. It would be a great place if they just made cooked fresh food that wasn't frozen. read more

Went here regularly for years until they stopped making their steak sandwich. That was the start of a serious decline. About 6 months later On a cold winter night we decided to give them another shot and ordered the lobster bisque and 2 Irish stews. I called the order in I was told 20 to 25 minutes for soup that was already made but OK I figured they were busy so I got there exactly 15 minutes later . The place was completely dead except a few regulars at the bar. Imagine my surprise when The bartender told me the bill was over $32 for three bowls of soup!! The Irish stew used to be served in a bread bowl and you got a lot of it well whoever made this to go decided a bowl was literally one cup of stew. When I realize this I called them and said I think there was a mistake. The two pieces of bread we got were dry crusty ends and there was barely a cup of stew in each of the to go containers. They said that is their standard to go order for the bowl of Irish stew they would not give us more unless we wanted to pay for it so I drove right back and demanded a refund for that food. While they did credit me the full amount it is mind blowing that they charge so much for just a little portion of mediocre food , they gave me an over exaggerated waiting time and they would not offer to make the customer happy by providing the amount of food that would be expected if we were sit down customers. Fast forward three years we decided to give it a another try and again everything was a complete epic failure. This place is at best a bar for socializing with free popcorn do yourself a favor and skip the meal here altogether. read more

It is sad... I have gone to this bar for over 30 years and it seems that with each passing year the service gets worse. My wife and I went to Flags tonight and sat in a booth for 20 minutes before any staff acknowledge us..I am sad to say that is time to cross this bar off the list read more

Have eaten here a couple of times and food was fair. I like the lobster bisque but the lobster meat is usually over cooked and mushy. They should make the bisque and add the lobster to order. The lobster in my bisque was like mush. Overall it decent flavor aside from the lobster being over cooked. seldom do I ever send anything back but I did that night. I should have known better when my veal parmesan was described as deep fried. Saves them time but makes it unpleasant for the customer. The flavor on the crust was that of old oil in the fryer that hadn't' been changed in days and overused. True veal Parmesan is panfried. Mine came out absolutely murdered. Hard, no taste and difficult to cut. I finished the pasta which also was overdone But l sent the veal back. The staff was pleasant but it appeared that they were pushing to get you in and out as fast as they could. This didn't seem like an isolated case its most likely the norm for them!! They deducted the veal and comped my dessert. Unpleasant experience most likely will not return!!! read more

Came in for lunch . Sign said seat yourself but a waitress was at the table doing napkins and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar area or dining area. Pending this was a Sunday early afternoon the bar was quieter then the dining. Got greeted right away and drinks came out great. Not that it was a big deal but we did receive or asked if we wanted popcorn, I lived! Simple front and back menu, well the 1 side was the dinner side but simple and basic. I go the French dip with fries and a pickle. The roast beef was kinda on the tough/chewy side. But what through me was if I wanted cheese in the sandwich then it was .50 cents extra. I got it but come on, Arby's has the cheese on ALREADY without extra. We were asked how things tasted. Place seemed clean, but the lighting was on the dim side. Televisions were placed all over the bar area. It's been a few yrs since I've been in here. This would be a great late night place to go, buy a drink and go sit out at the outside patio. read more

We got here about 3pm. We asked to be seated in the dining room as we had our 6 yr old daughter and did not want to be seated in the bar. We were the only ones in this area at first but were joined by another table pretty soon after. The Server came over promptly, and was quick to deliver our waters. After that everything went down hill. I am not sure where our waitress kept disappearing to, but she was not out with her two tables. Took a while for her to take our order, I got the Buffalo dumplings as an app, Cajun chicken wings(xtra seasoning) . My wife ordered the Buffalo wrap with mayo(we asked for a couple large sides of mayo) . My dumplings came out and were really good, I recommend them. The rest of our food took what felt like forever. When they came out, the waitress had forgot the mayo, and had to go get it. I tried my wings and all I could taste was grease. No seasoning. I could not eat them as they were. My wife finished her wrap and most of her fries prior to the waitress showing back up. I asked for some bbq sauce to be able to eat the wings. Again she dissappeared. Not very happy. Will not be back to this location for dine in. We do like the one in honeoye falls location though. read more

I had dinner with family at the restaurant on Friday, September 2. We were seated within 15 minutes of our arrival at 7:00 pm. Three adults and two small children in booster seats were crammed into a booth in the back corner of the restaurant. It was very uncomfortable and the vibe in the restaurant was loud and chaotic. All of the staff seemed frantic but our server was particularly distressed and confused. Extremely bad service. One appetizer arrived at 7:55 pm and the second appetizer arrived when the dinners were served at 8:20 pm. Two of the three fish frys were gummy and undercooked and were sent back to the kitchen. At 8:30 we left Flahterys with a large bill and still hungry. We went to a burger place down the road and had a delicious meal. I emailed the restaurant owner to express my dissatisfaction with the food and the experience but no response was received. I will never go back to Flaherty's. read more

I go to Flags once or twice a week. I like it. Bar atmosphere is friendly to all and the dining room is cozy. We prefer the bar for food and drink. There's a full selection of liquor, beer, and mid-market wine. Multiple TV's and satellite channels liven things up for sports fans. Some music plays in background. The bar offers fresh popcorn for the asking. Bar and dining room have some buzz and fun on busy weekends. It nicely suits a quieter single, group, or business lunch. Wings and bar food are very good. Fine burgers and sandwiches can be had here and Flags never disappoints (I tend to keep things "simple" anywhere I go... cheeseburger medium with sweet potatoe fries; BLT or turkey with LT on toasted whole wheat.\; etc.). Their fish fry on Fridays is a favorite, as is the chicken French or big chicken caesar salad any time. We like their top steak on the menu and believe it's one of the better big beef values found anywhere in the local area... my wife swears by it (e.g. compared to Prime, Micheal's, etc., it's very good and a lot less money for the quality and portion size). Baked potatoes, fries and veggies are always done right too. Lobster bisque is a treat. Salads are good. I have just a few favorites from the deep fryer, but don't go wild on such things (any where). I've found the service attentive and friendly, unless the place is absolutely jammed - full, and then one simply has to shift gears for a more measured evening (like many places), but to me none the less friendly. Flags is suitably busy and vibrant during "peak" hours, which says to me that the Flaherty's owners know their customers and market quite well. I wish them the best. I used to be a regular at Flaherty's but the overall quality of the experience has gone way downhill. Last night I brought friends there. We were seated promptly but there was a distinct draft so we ended up switching to another table. Since it took a good ten minutes for the waiter to even notice us, switching wasn't an issue. It took another ten minutes for the drinks to arrive. When answering questions about the menu, the waiter said, "I'm horrible at describing things." (Wait, isn't that one of your primary jobs???) It took another twenty minutes for the salads to arrive and the three salads did not arrive together. As he put the salads on at our places, he said, "Whoops, we're all out of croutons." (Again, on a Sunday of a holiday weekend at a restaurant that serves salads with all its entrees????) Our wait continued without the bread that Flaherty's has a reputation for. Ultimately, I ended up asking a passing bus boy for bread. When the food did arrive, it was uneven in terms of both presentation and temperature but none of us wanted to give up the food we'd waited more than 40 minutes for. Our bill for three was $68 and we would have been better off at almost any other local place. I try to support local businesses and avoid chains but this was just awful. The waiter was pleasant but really totally incompetent. I felt horrified that I'd recommended the place to my friends. read more
