We have gone here since it opened many years ago. Food quality has alway been predictable diner fare.They have always been pet friendly on their covered patio but apparently they now have a "no dog policy" except for a picnic table out in full sun. There are other more appealing dining choices that are "dog friendly" than an old picnic table next to the parking lot. This is my second time trying Mama Lor's since we have moved to the area, I've been underwhelmed both times. I have ordered two different omelettes on two different occasions now: an egg white with spinach and mushroom and a meat lovers. Both were quite overcooked and the meat lovers seemed like a thin sheet of egg that they filled with toppings later on like a crepe. Additionally the meat lovers side of rye toast was obviously burnt but still served to me, I just ate around it for a few bites and gave up. My husband ordered fish and chips the first time - I thought the batter was tasty and enjoyed it though I think the filleting of the actual fish could have been a lot cleaner. This item is the only reason my review is not a one star, I thought it tasted good. The second time he ordered clam chowder and a salad that had chicken, fruit, nuts. The salad was fine nothing wrong but not a stand out either it seemed similar to something I'd get as a salad kit from the store. The clam chowder though was awful, so thick and gelatinous it seemed like it was canned which is already a red flag but one of those canned soups that you're supposed to add water to and like they forgot to do that part. On top of being weirdly thick it was also cold you can tell they didn't heat it thoroughly whether that was in a microwave or not though I can't really tell. I truly don't understand the hype or reviews for this restaurant given we've tried multiple items and for the most part fell flat with the sole exception of the fried fish. I have been to both locations for breakfast, but last night was the first time there for dinner. Also took two guests who had NEVER been there. Went for my birthday, it was a Saturday and they ONLY serve prime rib on Saturday only Went 5 hours before they closed and I went to order the prime rib and was told they were sold out.... How do you run out of prime rib when the only day you serve it, is one day!? I had to settle for steak. Which it came out beyond bland almost made for someone with a diabetic needs. Came with a side of steamed broccoli which was pretty much warm uncooked broccoli. My wife ordered the chicken parm, it was absolutely disgusting. Chicken was overcooked and dry, sauce tasted out of a can. The waiter knew it was my birthday and literally brought my diabetic safe stake out a with potato cube and a candle in it. Then for my beer I was looking to get something fancy and they were out of it and had to settle for some sort of flavored seltzer beer which wasn't anything fancy , could've just sold me a truly at that point For $95 for a super bland diabetic safe stake, canned sauce dry chicken parm... this was absolutely a major disappointment to go here for my birthday, after being told this place is highly recommended. My wife & I could definitely out cook and charge less than mama Lor's in Webster .... We would definitely love to show you a real chicken parm made from scratch, I can definitely show you a legit steak. Also asked of the corned beef hash was home made; it was not. It's canned. Despite not being home made, it was tasty enough. Definitely can tell the difference between packet hollandaise and real. The home fries potatoes were tasty red potatoes. The eggs were poached perfectly. No complaints and all the plates I saw go by looked fabulous! Pricing is very reasonable as well. Service kept up with the busy pace, and met all our needs, although her attitude could have been better. She was not rude, but clearly not happy to be there. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the potatoes were good as well, but I was definitely already full from the Benedict. Went to get a Friday fish fry (Lent) on a friend's recommendation. Friday at 5pm no less, so yes it's busy,but the staff were so friendly and we enjoyed sitting at the counter (had tickets and didn't want or need to wait for a table). Glad I read the reviews about the SIZE of the 'mini' fish fry. it was more than ample for 2 hungry adults. Liked this place so much I hit up the Lake location for lunch on Sunday. The pastrami sandwich was out of this WORLD. I could have shared it the size was so generous. (cough but I didn't bc I'm an only child and that pastrami was off the charts. amazing). I don't think I've ever ate anywhere in my life that took SOOOOOOO long. It took forever to put in an order. It took forever for them to make the food. It took forever to get the check. The two meals were brought out 15 minutes apart for some reason. And when I asked for two boxes, we were given one, and had to wait forever for the other one. The waitress was super friendly, but the service was ridiculously slow. Also, they overcharged for the pancakes by double. We had already been there for TWO HOURS - I figured my chances of trying to get the check corrected would prolly have taken another hour. I was pleasantly surprised to see they still had a special stout from their anniversary party the Sunday before. Their beer menu is very good with many selections from local breweries such as: other half, beer tree, Mortalis, etc.. I had a steak with mashed potatoes (real ones), broccoli and salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, mashed were really good but the broccoli was very hard ( I didn't send it back I'm sure they would have cooked it more). The salad was a good basic salad. My friend had a Berger and fries and he really liked it. I was too full for desert but they had cookies in the case that looked amazing!
