This is my second time trying Mama Lor's since we have moved to the area, I've been underwhelmed both times. I have ordered two different omelettes on two different occasions now: an egg white with spinach and mushroom and a meat lovers. Both were quite overcooked and the meat lovers seemed like a thin sheet of egg that they filled with toppings later on like a crepe. Additionally the meat lovers side of rye toast was obviously burnt but still served to me, I just ate around it for a few bites and gave up. My husband ordered fish and chips the first time - I thought the batter was tasty and enjoyed it though I think the filleting of the actual fish could have been a lot cleaner. This item is the only reason my review is not a one star, I thought it tasted good. The second time he ordered clam chowder and a salad that had chicken, fruit, nuts. The salad was fine nothing wrong but not a stand out either it seemed similar to something I'd get as a salad kit from the store. The clam chowder though was awful, so thick and gelatinous it seemed like it was canned which is already a red flag but one of those canned soups that you're supposed to add water to and like they forgot to do that part. On top of being weirdly thick it was also cold you can tell they didn't heat it thoroughly whether that was in a microwave or not though I can't really tell. I truly don't understand the hype or reviews for this restaurant given we've tried multiple items and for the most part fell flat with the sole exception of the fried fish. I was disappointed given the expectation from other reviews and unfortunately we won't be back for a third try. read more

We have gone here since it opened many years ago. Food quality has alway been predictable diner fare.They have always been pet friendly on their covered patio but apparently they now have a "no dog policy" except for a picnic table out in full sun. There are other more appealing dining choices that are "dog friendly" than an old picnic table next to the parking lot. Ended up having a great dinner at Tavo's which we recommend for anyone traveling with a dog. read more

It was a busy Easter Sunday morning. It was me, my wife and our baby daughter. They were able to get our food to us in a very reasonable time. I have been to both locations for breakfast, but last night was the first time there for dinner. Also took two guests who had NEVER been there. We were concerned about the fact that we are all old people with hearing issues. In fact one of us is legally deaf and wears hearing aids so far too often background noise can greatly impact dinner conversations. But a Wednesday evening proved to be fine, the place was "busy" not full. The food was FANTASTIC- of course. We all agreed the fish fry was among the best we have ever had! As was the meatloaf- although I do wish the broccoli that came with the meatloaf had been steamed a little longer= but, glad it was not mushy. All of agreed to go again, and our guests now are excited to try breakfast there! read more

Great service and food. We go there several times a year when up that way. Deb was our waitress - we've had her several times - she's a pro. We both had salad this time and the portions are healthy. Got a steak to go for our son and even a few hours ago he loved it. A couple of nice rooms separate from the main dining area are nice as they have heaters. read more

Went for my birthday, it was a Saturday and they ONLY serve prime rib on Saturday only Went 5 hours before they closed and I went to order the prime rib and was told they were sold out.... How do you run out of prime rib when the only day you serve it, is one day!? I had to settle for steak. Which it came out beyond bland almost made for someone with a diabetic needs. Came with a side of steamed broccoli which was pretty much warm uncooked broccoli. My wife ordered the chicken parm, it was absolutely disgusting. Chicken was overcooked and dry, sauce tasted out of a can. The waiter knew it was my birthday and literally brought my diabetic safe stake out a with potato cube and a candle in it. Then for my beer I was looking to get something fancy and they were out of it and had to settle for some sort of flavored seltzer beer which wasn't anything fancy , could've just sold me a truly at that point For $95 for a super bland diabetic safe stake, canned sauce dry chicken parm... this was absolutely a major disappointment to go here for my birthday, after being told this place is highly recommended. My wife & I could definitely out cook and charge less than mama Lor's in Webster .... We would definitely love to show you a real chicken parm made from scratch, I can definitely show you a legit steak. As far as the staff and vibe was nice. But the food and simple fact of having prime rib on the only day they serve it to run out 5 hours before closing is absolutely unacceptable, should put a clause stating "while supplies last" Who knows, we may give this place a redemption but not anytime soon. read more

Stopped in here for the first time. It was VERY busy for a 11am on a Tuesday! Seated right away by friendly staff. Ordered hot tea and a coffee. Ordered the Highlander Benedict. It came to the table a bit slow but I attribute that to being so busy I asked the server if the hollandaise was home made; it's a powdered package mix. Also asked of the corned beef hash was home made; it was not. It's canned. Despite not being home made, it was tasty enough. Definitely can tell the difference between packet hollandaise and real. The home fries potatoes were tasty red potatoes. The eggs were poached perfectly. No complaints and all the plates I saw go by looked fabulous! Pricing is very reasonable as well. 4/5 stars Went here with some friends for brunch! The interior was cute, and the bathrooms were very cleanly. We were sat in a cramped corner that had tiny bar chairs, unfortunately. There looks to be outdoor seating for when weather is nicer, which is a nice feature! Lots of parking available, which is good because it was very busy on a Saturday morning. Service kept up with the busy pace, and met all our needs, although her attitude could have been better. She was not rude, but clearly not happy to be there. I got the eggs Benedict served with corn beef hash (can't remember menu name) which was very good! The eggs were perfectly poached, and the potatoes were good as well, but I was definitely already full from the Benedict. Bloody Mary was very good tasting, although I wish there were more fixings, such as bacon strip, celery, or cheese (My friends and I got a side of bacon and added our own!) I also tried the pear mimosa, which was nice and refreshing, and I have never seen pear as a mimosa pairing option! Would definitely come back again! :) read more

This is one of our go to's for a fish fry. The beer battered fish is always nice and crisp and a big piece of fish. The bonus here is you can pick your 2 sides not just the standard fries and slaw. There's several potato options, pasta, salad, applesauce etc. Food is always good and so is the service. Went to get a Friday fish fry (Lent) on a friend's recommendation. Friday at 5pm no less, so yes it's busy,but the staff were so friendly and we enjoyed sitting at the counter (had tickets and didn't want or need to wait for a table). Glad I read the reviews about the SIZE of the 'mini' fish fry. it was more than ample for 2 hungry adults. Liked this place so much I hit up the Lake location for lunch on Sunday. The pastrami sandwich was out of this WORLD. I could have shared it the size was so generous. (cough but I didn't bc I'm an only child and that pastrami was off the charts. amazing). It's common to see her working right along with her staff. she also will walk around the dining rooms visiting the tables making sure everyone is happy. my friends and relatives all like to head to Mama Lor's for great food and an enjoyable atmosphere. The one cook came out to talk to what appeared to be regulars, without his mask on and kept saying the whole time "I probably should be wearing my mask, but whatever" (wondered if that was his attitude about masks what his thoughts/actions were on making food). Had a cup of soup and a club sandwich. The soup was ok...and the club, while it was good, the Turkey was plain deli meat and nothing homemade that you would expect from a "Mama's" cafe/restaurant. After reading so many rave reviews, I just HAD to check this place out, due to my overwhelming love of diners. This place was a major disappointment. The food? Pretty darn good. I had a southern breakfast skillet. It wasn't mind blowing, nor was it terrible. My attending guest had a kids Boston Creme pancake. The bad? The service. I don't think I've ever ate anywhere in my life that took SOOOOOOO long. It took forever to put in an order. It took forever for them to make the food. It took forever to get the check. The two meals were brought out 15 minutes apart for some reason. And when I asked for two boxes, we were given one, and had to wait forever for the other one. The waitress was super friendly, but the service was ridiculously slow. Also, they overcharged for the pancakes by double. We had already been there for TWO HOURS - I figured my chances of trying to get the check corrected would prolly have taken another hour. Decent food, if you have a lot of time to kill, but no diner should take that long. I won't be back. read more

Went to dinner and drinks last Thursday night to meet some friends. I heard they just opened 10 new beer tap lines and was anxious to see what they had on tap. I was pleasantly surprised to see they still had a special stout from their anniversary party the Sunday before. Their beer menu is very good with many selections from local breweries such as: other half, beer tree, Mortalis, etc.. I had a steak with mashed potatoes (real ones), broccoli and salad. The steak was cooked perfectly, mashed were really good but the broccoli was very hard ( I didn't send it back I'm sure they would have cooked it more). The salad was a good basic salad. My friend had a Berger and fries and he really liked it. I was too full for desert but they had cookies in the case that looked amazing! My father and I were looking for a new breakfast spot, just to try something different, and Mama Lor's fit the bill. With a wide variety of menu items, along with a few specials, everything sounded so good it was hard to settle! I ended up getting the Sloppy Joe Omelet special, and my Dad ordered a 1-2-3 special, which was a Pancake, two eggs, and 3 pieces of meat. The food was great! The omelet was delicious, with Sloppy Joe meat, cheddar, peppers and onions inside, and more Sloppy Joe on top. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, hot and crisp! My Dad thoroughly enjoyed his pancake, eggs and sausage. We sat out on the patio, which is covered, and had a great visit over breakfast. The service was quick and attentive as well. When we pulled up to Mama Lors at 830 am on a Saturday, I was worried there would be a wait as the parking lot was full. Lo and behold, the restaurant is so big that there were still plenty of tables available. Although quite large, with several different rooms, the Mama Lors still maintains a cozy, hometown vibe. We perused the breakfast menu, which is definitely a step above typical diner fare. There are some unique varieties of skillets, omelets, French toast, and pancakes. I ordered the Tomato-Avocado-Swiss Egg White Omelet and it was so tasty. My friend ordered eggs and corned beef hash and enjoyed it. The coffee was very good. Mama Lohrs looks like it could be a breakfast and lunch place only, but is actually open for dinner several days a week. With friendly service, and good home cooking, i would rerun if in the area. I enjoyed my veggie omelet and my friend enjoyed her eggs and corned beef hash. The coffee was very good. Totally unremarkable and bland. No gluten free options- my option was to have either cottage cheese or applesauce, circa 1970. Frank's red hot for the restaurant's hot sauce is thoughtless and cheap. I don't know if it's the nostalgia or maybe it's just good vibes but sometimes when we revisit a location we haven't been in a while we have to face the reality that it's maybe not as good as we once thought. My wife and I opted to go to Mama Laura's this past weekend instead of the longer drive out to canandaigua to go to simply crepes. We wanted a nice breakfast and we had fun memories of this place from years ago... Sadly those memories were the best part of the experience.
