Not particularly difficult (the route is pretty flat), bike tours are always a great way to "meet" a city. Why? You're getting an eye level view of the place you're visiting, but people like Danny? They are true ambassadors for a city. It's so clear that he not only knows his stuff, he clearly loves the city - and its history - so much. We did the Creole history tour, but I have ZERO doubt that when we return, we'll see these guys again - and probably do the Culinary Tour next time! And by the way? As he sent us on our way, Danny also did us the solid of suggesting some local joints for music and such. To be honest? The city ought to bottle Danny and his energy - he's an absolute credit to the magic that NOLA really is.

Book it! We took a tour in late May with our family of 8. This was both our first time doing a bike tour and their first time doing a "family with six young kids" tour. Jeff hit it out of the park! They were so accommodating, even letting us borrow his sweet daughter's tag-along bike for the ride. We loved the ride through the historic neighborhood of New Orleans. At each stop Jeff fed us a bit more history in an exciting way that was interesting to all of us, ages 4 to 45 (the 2 year old was just there for the ride). My kids learned about shotgun houses, hurricane Katrina and its impact on New Orleans, the Mississippi River, Cajun vs. Creole, why everything is so colorful in NOLA, art/music in NOLA culture, and many many other things. Our tour ended with a stop at Lorettas, where we ate the best beignets of our trip (and we tried multiple!). The tour was so fun and engaging I could not believe three hours had already gone by. On our two week summer roadtrip, we took a lot of tours. This one was the most expensive tour (which is definitely a factor for us), but I'm so glad we did it. We got to see a side to New Orleans we never would have otherwise. Beyond the tour, we loved the bike ride itself so much I'm now home and scouring the internet for used adult and tag-along bikes so we can all ride around our own city. If you're looking for a kid-friendly activity in New Orleans that's fun for you too, you've found it. Two thumbs up to Confederacy of Cruisers bike tours!

We also lucked out as we were the only two on the tour. We took the 3 hour tour but if we would have realized how comfortable the day and how informative the tour was we would have elected to take 20 mile tour vs the 10 mile. We chose the Esplanade tour and started out at the Mississippi River and toured through the French Qtr, a historic cemetery, City park , and other various NOLA neighborhoods. Bob was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the city and did a great job of sharing it with us. Don't be feel intimidated by a bike tour the city is flat, the pace is just right with many stops along the way. The cruiser bikes are excellent for this type of tour. Bob gave us great tips on bars, restaurants, and things to do on our quick trip. Highly recommend his tour to anyone visiting the area!!

Setting up the trip by email was easy and they answered all my questions - from vegetarian lunch options to was this suitable for a relatively inexperienced bicyclist. Derek, our tour guide, was easy going, knowledgeable, and said he never did the same tour twice. We were touring on St. Joseph's day so he threw in a visit to 2 altars, asking us ahead of time if we were ok with that. You start off on a cruiser bicycle with a basket, a bottle of water and helmet. We stopped to get lunch to go from Cajun Jo's, a plain neighborhood place run by a Vietnamese family. Simple food at cheap prices. We then rode a few block to eat lunch in Mr. Lewis's backyard. Visiting Mr. Lewis was a special experience, and hearing from him about his Dance and Feathers museum. He lost all the exhibits except a few to Katrina and as rebuilt it again. He's the community glue who lives for what he does. And for his grandchildren :) The tour is about 4.5 hours long but don't let this scare you. The bike seats are very comfortable, the pace is relaxed with a lot of breaks, drivers are patient letting bicyclists through, and the city is very flat. And Derek and our group of 9 were accommodating of me who fell behind a few times. Payment is in cash only. Like a TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: if you're breathing, you must go on this trip.

We expected it to warm up but it never did, it only got colder, which was the only bad part of the tour. Our tour guide Derrick was incredibly knowledgable and friendly, informing all of us from a New Orleanian's perspective about the issues the Ninth Ward has faced, the issues it's still facing as well as it's hopes for the future. It was a really positive tour, focusing more on the brighter and unique features of the city rather than a whole bunch of depressing information about Hurricane Katrina. We stopped off at Cajun Joes for a po-boy about half way through the tour, which was really big and reasonably priced. The other major stop was Ronald Lewis' House of Dance and Feathers, a museum dedicated to the culture of New Orleans societies and clubs, with emphasis on the Louisiana Indians. The museum had a large array of photographs and incredibly complex and colourful costumes worn by Ronald in various parades over the years. He also has a book for sale that he wrote, that delves deeper into the many complexities and variations in this particular culture unique to New Orleans. Derrick even took us to his local bar afterward for a quick beer, which we found you were allowed to cycle and drink at the same time! Overall an awesome tour, highly recommended and definitely worth the money.

The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. They are located at the Voodoo Lounge off Decatur St, while French Quarter Phantoms is at Voodoo Lounge off Rampart St.

There are several different food pavilions, restrooms, locker areas, and areas to sit. There is also a fun water slide, giving homage to the infamous alligators with albinism who have taken residence at the Zoo and Aquarium over the years. This would be a fun place to relax with your kids during one of the summer sessions. My friends and I attending the adults-only Sip and Dip event held on Fridays during the summer. It was very affordable for a private cabana for six with early access. Be sure to reserve your tickets for the event early online as it does sell out. It got a bit crowded toward the end, and they did run out of regular floats, though some preferred the thick floating noodles offered. Every Friday night has a different theme, so there is something for everyone. They bring in Dickie Brennans for the bar, and they were wonderful with decently priced drinks and quality alcohol. They were also creating with the mocktails. I certainly will return for another Sip and Dip either later this summer, if able, or next year. Absolutely worth it!

My first time at Cool Zoo was for the adults-only Friday night party, Sip & Dip. This event is 2X a month during the heart of the summer and features theme nights with DJs and of course since this is NOLA, people get creative and might dress in theme. I went on 80s night and the music was so fun and I loved people wearing neon, 80s tshirts and even hair and make-up. Refreshments stands are spread out among the park and they do a themed cocktail and sell beer, hard seltzer and soft drinks, along with typical concession food and popcorn. I had the cocktail of the evening, the Purple Rain and while it was eye-catching, it was so sweet and possibly strong, too, that I couldn't drink more than 1/4 of it (and it's a huge cup, fairly priced at only $13). The grounds are beautiful with fountains and an area with slides and water features that you'd normally see children dominating (with perfectly good reason) but it was actually fun to see adults having at it on the slides and at the water sprayers. Then there's the lazy river, which is a decent size, warm and full of jets to move you along. We ended up not using flotation devices and swam/walked through it. My main issue and why this event isn't personally my cup of tea: it's too crowded. It sells out but I think they sell far too many tickets. We arrived 15 min after it started and there wasn't a lounge chair nor seat at a table to be found. Cabanas are so cheap here but they sell out immediately ahead of the event, likely the day that tickets go on sale. The only way I'd return was if I could get a cabana. The lazy river is completely packed 45 minutes into the event. We were lucky enough to get a locker (which also sell out so imagine being there without a space to put your things??? how is that fun?). People are in general nice enough to hand over the inner tubes but good luck ever getting a place to sit if you didn't line up in advance of start time. I keep going back between 3 and 4 stars for the main reason that everyone who works here is SO nice. The staff really made everything bearable for me, as they were so welcoming and helpful to point out where the lockers were (there's another set behind the set you initially encounter). I just think this isn't the event for anyone who avoids crowds of people. And the crowd that was there that night were totally fine (at least early in the evening). They just sell too many tickets for me to enjoy it.

From the second you walk in, it feels like old-school charm meets modern-day motivation. The building itself is gorgeous -- think chandeliers, brick walls, and history dripping from every dumbbell. The weight room? Massive. The cardio section? Plenty of options. The pool? Stunning and feels like something Gatsby would've done laps in. And don't even get me started on the boxing ring -- I half-expected to see Rocky training in the corner. There's even a Turkish bath. Yes, a Turkish bath -- where else are you gonna find that? The people were super friendly, and there was this kind of unspoken camaraderie in the air -- everyone's working hard but also vibing with the beauty of the space. Part of the "user agreement" in visiting, is to always leave the location cleaner than you found it. Give a hoot; don't pollute.

Where to start with World's End? Is it a park? Is it abandoned public property? Is it private…read moreproperty? Who knows and frankly I don't think anyone really cares. This little patch of land sits along the Mississippi River and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal, better known as the Industrial Canal. This area offers up excellent views of the City of New Orleans and some front row seats to the river boats passing by. Area has been pup friendly but due to its quite yet semi sketchy nature a leash is recommended. There are a few abandoned buildings nearby complete with mattresses, broken glass, and plenty of drug paraphernalia. Watch your step. Near the end of the land it drops down beyond the levee the a naturally made sandy area I hesitate to call a beach. You can usually find some campers set up in this area but typically they keep to themselves. Overall this little hidden gem is a decent little retreat without going outside the city. Feel free to bring a folding chair, blanket, and some suds for some r&r.

One of the things I appreciate most is the lease program. It has been very affordable and has given me opportunities I never imagined having, especially with an American Saddlebred. I have loved getting to know this beautiful breed and look forward to continuing my journey as a rider. The horses receive exceptional care, and it shows. Everyone at the barn is welcoming, helpful, and genuinely invested in creating a positive experience for both horses and riders. I've also enjoyed the trail rides. The horses are calm and dependable, and riding through the park is peaceful and beautiful. Whether you're new to horses or returning to riding later in life as I did, Cascade is a wonderful place to learn, grow, and be part of a supportive equestrian community. I highly recommend it. Barbe Smith has a huge heart and does a lot for the community. Her son and daughter in law are professional trainers and are excellent to learn from. He was impatient and seemed like he didn't want to be there. If you don't have any experience riding horses, this is not the place for you. (You can check one of two boxes for any experience from riding 0-10 times or more than 10 times.) The horse, Oreo, only wanted to eat grass, and I struggled as soon as we got to the park. We were told both horses were calm. The guide barked instruction from the front of the other rider instead of coming over to explain. He just kept telling me to kick the horse harder and pull the reins harder. I would pull the reins up and the horse would immediately put his head back down to eat grass. I tried multiple times to get him away from the grassy area. I was afraid and felt unstable, so I grabbed the saddle and the guide fussed at me for grabbing the saddle. He repeated the same instructions over again, which weren't working, and eventually came over to me. I ended up being terrified on top of the horse. So, the guide called someone to come out and help. I didn't feel safe at that point and just asked to get down. I ended up walking back and will never get on another horse after this experience. There's no refunds. It was a total waste of time. The other workers didn't seem to believe me when I complained about the guide (big guy named Lane, I think) until the one other rider explained how disengaged the guide acted. My friend has done a bunch of trail rides and never experienced such bad service. Save your money and go do something else. This stable doesn't care about its riders.

The place is kept very clean, there are a ton of variations of climbs to do, whether it's your first time or you're a professional. The climbing community is very welcoming and supportive, so you feel so encouraged to keep trying. One of the employees hosted a free "Bouldering 101" class for about 15-20 minutes to give helpful tips and information. Amenities include: multiple walls with climbing combinations, matts all around in case you fall, shoes (to rent if you don't have your own, you have to use specific shoes), free cubbies for your stuff, water dispenser, and a training room. 12/10, I will be back.

We visited NOLA this past weekend for our first time. We chose Crescent City Bike Tours after seeing an advertisement in a magazine in our hotel room. It seemed like a fun way to see the city, learn it's history and get a little exercise. We were totally impressed. Since it was the off-season it was just the two of us on our tour which was awesome (and super lucky!). Richie was our tour guide and we took a great ride through the city and learned so much about it's rich history and culture. He was very knowledgeable, personable and fun to ride around with. This was by far a highlight of the trip to New Orleans for both of us! At the end of our tour we also got a great list of Richie and Christine favorite spots in NOLA which was so helpful to check out some of the great spots we didn't know about. I would absolutely recommend Crescent City Bike Tours to anyone traveling to NOLA. It was awesome! read more

This bike tour was the highlight of my girlfriend and I's recent trip to New Orleans. Eric, the tour guide, is a New Orleans native and is as legit as they come for an authentic city ambassador. The ride went through some of the city's most beautiful thoroughfares - most of which I had seen before. But Eric brought a new life to these places by telling the complex and tumultuous history of the city starting from Native Americans and ending with New Orleans role in the civil rights movement. I was already a connoisseur of NOLA history, but I definitely learned a lot of new things and was almost brought to tears a couple times by Eric's narrative. The city has a history of controversy and injustice, but Eric left us with plenty of stories of New Orleans heroes. We had a lot to talk about after the tour and it helped us feel closer to the city. read more

Fun!! Me and 13 of my friends took the Crescent City Bike Tours for my bachelor party and had a great time! Kristine was great in taking a big group around through the streets of New Orleans and explaining the history of the city and various landmarks and people. She did an amazing job of making the tour informative and personal and being very accommodating to a huge group. The bikes were very comfortable and easy to ride around the city. The highlight of the tour was the cemetery, riding through Treme, City Park and stopping for tasty Po Boys at Parkway. Highly recommend the bike tour to see more of the amazing city then just the tourist areas of the FQ and using Crescent City Bike Tours is a great way of doing that. read more

This tour was a fabulous way to see New Orleans and learn a little about the town. We had decided to take a bike tour instead of a walking tour because so much more ground can be covered. We took the morning tour of the river and it was fabulous. Our tour guide was great and and we stopped frequently so he could tell us about the area. Additionally, he would point out things to look for as we rode before our next stop. Taking the ferry over to Algiers point with the option to get coffee or stop at a local bar was the perfect end to the trip. I would highly recommend Crescent City Bike Tours to anyone who wants to see New Orleans. I hope to take the other tour when I return to New Orleans in the future. read more

This was an amazing tour with Jonathon. We went all over the area and saw a lot of history of New Orleans. Jonathon was amazing! He gave us details and showed us things that we had not seen before, although we had visited this city several times, I have a much better understanding of New Orleans and its unique culture now. I am not a biker but I was able to keep up with the group easily. Jonathon was extremely careful to keep us all safe. We crossed intersections and rode with traffic and he guided us through with ease. We throughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend it for anyone - even out of shape middle aged people like me! read more

If you want an intelligent bicycle tour that covers the history, culture and spirit of New Orleans take the Flambeaux tour. Eric is a scholar, well read, and entertaining. He gets animated telling the accurate history involving the Original Natives, the French explorers, the Spanish, the Acadians, the British, and the Americans. Eric makes you think. He's intelligent and gracious. We took the tour twice and learned something new at each stop along the way. Great bike tour! Richie was an awesome tour guide - clearly excited about the city and its history, looked out for us as we were biking, and had a great little bike tour he'd created. We took the Bayou Tour. All the stops were very interesting - my favorite was that the night herons were nesting in this cool tree overhang area. Riding in the park was really nice as well. Doing this in mid-April was perfect - the weather was lovely, the night herons were there. I think this is a great way to see this town and a different side of it than you would if you just hung out in the French Quarter. read more

We did the Bayou tour with Kristine. It ended up being just the two of us on a Windy Saturday afternoon. Kristine is a NOLA native and was very knowledgeable about the history of her city. The highlight was, in the middle our first stop at Louis Armstrong Park, she heard the sound of a second line parade and halted our conversation to jump on our bikes so we could catch the parade on a side street. It was a great treat. She then recommended a couple cool places to go following our ride, including a killer Sazerac at a local bar. Thanks Kristine, we had a great time!! read more

The best way to experience the city. I learned so much and had fun doing it. Our guide was deeply interesting and tuned in to our needs - he brought ponchos for when it rained, water bottles for the ride, and offered a stop at a coffee shop for bathrooms or refreshments. He could answer all of our questions about the city's history and kept the information engaging throughout the whole ride. I can't recommend enough the experience of seeing this city on a bike while learning its rich heritage from the history buffs at Flambeaux. You won't be disappointed! read more

Super fun bicycle adventure with an incredible ambassador to New Orleans. I have lived here for almost four years, but learned so much fascinating history from Eric. I was visiting NOLA with a mixed group of friends and we signed up for a tour with CCBT and had a great time. Our planning was disjointed with one person showing up late and another needing to take a detour at one point. The tour guide was was more than accommodating and worked around our schedule rather than giving the impression we were interfering with a rigid structure. We had specific interests for which she arranged her traditional route but she was always honest on the specific topics with which she was less familiar. Definitely would recommend. read more

Amazing and exceeded expectations! So glad we went on both tours they offer while we were there. It is one thing to walk around the city and surrounding areas to explore. It's another to be guided by such a knowledgeable local historian like Eric via biking. I've lived in New Orleans for a few years, but during the tour I took with Eric I learned so much about this city that I never knew. I was on the Creole Odyssey tour and couldn't recommemd it more. The bikes were great and well tuned, Eric was an amazing guide, and the tour itself was extremely interesting and took me through parts of the city I'd never been and parts of history I'd never known. Exceptional tour!!!! As a #NewOrleans (NOLA) Native, Eric lives and breaths all things #NOLA. I have been on many tours in #NOLA and Eric's tour surpassed them all! His vast knowledge of #NOLA history along with his #NOLA charm make his tours a MUST when visiting #NOLA!! I was hesitant to book The Heart of the City tour because I haven't rode a bike in years. Came to NOLA for an anniversary trip. It was my husbands first time to the city so I wanted to introduce him to the history. This tour was perfect! Great detail at every stop. Very fun and informative. Guide was the owner of the shop and was the perfect mix of a passionate history buff and a funny guy. If you don't do anything else while in New Orleans, take a bicycle tour with Eric at Flambeaux! He took us at a leisurely pace through some off-the-beaten-tourist-path places. He gave us so much history that we quickly appreciated all that is New Orleans. Eric is what I call a "Peddling Encyclopedia." The tour was fun and fascinating. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and even extremely accomodating to us when we couldn't keep our original tour date. My girlfriends and I were in NOLA for a bachelorette weekend and decided to do this tour on our first day here. Unfortunately, the bride started feeling faint within a few minutes of getting on the bikes and couldn't continue. Rudy, the tourguide, had called the manager Ford to come pick us up and escort us back to the bike office. Without even asking, Ford didn't even hestitate to let us switch our tour to that Sunday, how nice! Not only did they completely accomodate us, Ford also spend about half an hour giving us a complete rundown (map included!) of all of his favorite places in New Orleans we could go instead. We checked a few of them out on our trip, and they didn't disappoint! When we came back Sunday, Ford was super friendly and asked how my friend was feeling, while Rudy (the tourguide) gathered the rest of the group. Rudy too was very kind and make sure everyone was taken care of. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours, and you could tell Rudy was very knowledgeable and geniunly loved sharing his passion for New Orleans with the riders. Overall, just superb.

We canceled our rental car reservation when we learned we could get around much more efficiently on bikes. His cruisers are cute, comfy, and he provided us with bike locks and helmets. We opted for the 6:00 a.m. tour so we got to see the sun come up and the city wake up. I love running in new cities because you see things from an entirely different perspective! The pace was moderate, I stopped my Garmin when we stopped at a landmark, and I had our running pace at a little under 12:00 minute mile. I typically run a little faster but not being used to the humidity, I was glad for a slower pace to be able to enjoy the run. This tour was the perfect way to start our trip to orient ourselves to the city and make room for all the delicious food we were going to eat!

I'm not a huge runner so I was a little afraid of doing a 10K without "training" much but honestly I didn't even really feel the distance until we finished, mostly due to the fact that our discussion and Marcus was so engaging and informative. The pace was moderate but certainly not intense and we stopped and talked enough that even modest runners can do this trip. Marcus took us all around the French Quarter, the Garden District, a historic cemetery and other neighborhoods and had answers to literally every question we could think to ask. He knew history and landmarks and didn't shy away from talking in detail about the checkered past of New Orleans... prostitution, slavery and the like. We finished the tour after 90 minutes feeling like we had a great overview of the city's attractions and landmarks and could now decide what else to explore during the rest of our trip. Highly recommended, and help support a local business!
