This is the third and best bike shop I have rented from while in Nola Without question this will be my go to from now on. The owner is way cool and personable. Great vibe and good bikes. We rented 2 bikes for about 5 hours for $40. Can't beat it. The bikes were in great shape and rode nicely. Nothing on the bike was beat up and not in good working order. Quick review : What an outstanding experience! If you want to rent a bike in New Orleans for an exceptionally great price ($3 per hour!) with excellent customer service, Alex's Bikes is your place. Details : All credit to my boyfriend for discovering Alex's darling little purple shop. We were looking for an inexpensive and convenient bike rental in New Orleans so we could ride up to City Park and explore for the day. Most places in NOLA are $10 per hour per bike. Alex's Bikes rents for $3 an hour!! It should be noted that they only offer cruisers with coaster brakes (back pedal to stop) for rent. But for our purposes, this was perfect! The rental comes with a helmet, lock/key and bike basket. From the moment we walked in to the time we left on two bikes, the rental process took about 5 minutes. You fill out some quick paperwork, provide a credit card for a deposit of $1.09 and try out the bike seat height for size, which they help you adjust. They also gave us great recommendations for how to safely bike to City Park. We ended up keeping our cruisers for 4 hours, and cut it a little close making it back before their 6pm closing time. Not only did Alex text me to check in and confirm that we were planning to be back before closing, but he ended up waiting for us as we had mentioned that we wanted to return same day. Had a great, easy experience here. Sitting just off the corner of Marigny and Chartres, directly behind the Friendly Bar, the storefront boasts an edgy décor with an equally alluring (and pretty cool) logo on display. The shop is aesthetically pleasing. Quaint, yet abundant with accessories, bike rentals, and a vibe inviting of the possibility to unknowingly spend more time in a bike shop than you'd expect without growing impatient. Alex was great in fixing a previous issue I was having with my bike after having it serviced at a different shop. Even though my issue was rather minor, I could see he had quite a few other bikes to be worked on, yet I was able to get my bike in, serviced, and out the same day. Almost unheard of at any other bike shop I've been to no matter how big or small the issue. Pricing I found to be fair, not much different than most other shops, but I'd choose to come here in the future because of the more personal interaction. I was impressed at the fact that Alex remembered customers returning to get their bikes, by name. To me, that shows a level of service and dedication that is not to go unrecognized. Not being much of a night rider, I hadn't previously had any head or tail lights on my bike. It took no convincing, merely a brief conversation, slight impulsion, and the comfort in knowing I'd be safer having them, to make that purchase. I went to Alex's to have my Vilano road bike assembled. They did an excellent job. When I brought it in they said they were pretty busy and it would take 5-7 days to get to it. I have dealt with several different co-workers and also the owner...all have been a true pleasure to deal with.
