If you don't order the white chicken General Tso's Chicken, you have the possibility of losing a tooth on the chicken because it is rock hard. I've ordered from here more than a few times over 2 or 3 years. I don't think food should be edible just because you pay 3 dollars more. I also ordered 2 times in 2025 and didn't get what I asked for- I got something else, even if I did get coupons to make up for it. I understand that some people see food as a way to make money if they can't get employed in other industries, but if you can't cook and won't improve- I'm going to say your food sucks. Accept it. Quality of food here has declined dramatically. I ordered a basic dish of Mongolian Beef and what little meat they provided was highly questionable, texture felt like it was boiled rubbery meat, chewy, and flavor and smell was not pleasing. The dish was overwhelmed with way too much large slices of onion. I ended up throwing the entire dish out because I coudn't stomach it. This restaurant used to be my favorite takeout Chinese in Madison, but I'm likely not to return due to the dramatic decline in food quality and taste. If you do order from there, I recommend sticking to the basics like a simple fried rice, egg roll, veggie Lo Mein or crab ragoon. Stay away from the questionable, cheap cuts of meat. We had a hankering for Chinese and options are very limited for us. We were very surprised when EatStreet had this place on the options and went all in! The food was amazing. Great flavor. Good menu options. Some of the best Chinese we have ever had. They even threw in some free beef Rangoon that were delicious! We had Lo Mein (beef and veggie), General Tso Chicken, and Curry Chicken. All were perfectly prepared and appropriately spiced based on our menu selection. There was a very minor miss on our order that the restaurant took full ownership of and refunded completely. I ordered food to be delivered from them and prior to arrival the driver calls and informed me that they no longer deliver to apartments and I would have to come down or he'd tell the restaurant I just declined the order. He first said they were busy then said it was company policy not to deliver to the actual apartment. I have a disability that causes great pain and limited mobility. The driver finally agreed to at least put the food on the elevator but I was in excruciating pain just to get there. Amidst all this crazy virus stuff happening, I was craving Chinese and the place closest to our house was closed. We've had flaming wok delivered before but I'll say it's much better picked up. We got our food right when it was predicted to be done; they had safety measures in place too which was nice. Unfortunately, because his head chef walked out ok him, and the night was very busy, it's Saturday, my order was wrong but he was honest about it and it was still so delicious. The food was steaming hot and the best Chinese I've had since I've moved to Madison. They even gave us free wontons. The worst Chinese food I have ever had. The teriyaki sticks were burnt. The restaurant claims that's just the way they make them. They should really rename the menu item to "burnt teriyaki sticks." The meal I ordered I asked for it to be extra hot and absolutely no hint of heat. The taste of the chicken was bland. It really is an accomplishment to have absolutely zero flavor. If I hadn't just had burnt teriyaki sticks I would have questioned if I had COVID and lost my sense of taste. I guess they should start burning that too so it at least has some flavor. The rice was poorly cooked. Rice should not seem like rice pudding. There was only one soy sauce included even though there were multiple orders of rice. I've had enough with Flaming Wok. I learned tonight from the delivery driver that Fortune Cookies now cost 50 cents. Up until tonight they were free, and were included in most of my orders, unless they forgot, which they did rather frequently. I called them and the woman I spoke to was absolutely hostile when I tried to explain the situation. I could hardly explain my grievances without her screaming on the phone. Extremely unprofessional. I order about $25/week from them so it surprised me that they were going to tack on an extra 50 cents. It's not the cost, it's the principal. Im sure they are monetizing a $2 box of hundreds of cookies for profit gain. As much as I enjoyed their food, have decided that I will never order from them again as they seem to favor the bottom dollar over repeating customers. Giving this place a 4 or 5 was hard. They might have even deserved a 3 simply because I saw a huge roach that looked like a beetle walking on the ledge of the window right by the table I was eating my food at. I definitely moved to another table. In addition to that, I ordered ahead of time before I arrived and when I called to make the order, I asked for 2 separate orders. The gentlemen I spoke with said it was fine to keep everything in one order and separate it upon arrival. But when we arrived to separate the orders, the lady was upset. And literally made it known. She was frustrated and said we needed to have them know it was separate orders when we call.
