    Combo fried rice
    Paul L.

Been too long since we've been here, and it's just as good as last time. I switched it up and tried the combo fried rice. Delicious, full of shrimp, chicken and pork. More than I expected and a huge portion. The wife had pho, and says it's just as good as ever. Perfect on a cold day. Also had an order of spring rolls that I couldn't even take a picture of because I had to dive in. Lol. Come and enjoy.

This was my 1st experience at Pho Nam, and I don't have much experience with Vietnamese cuisine. I dare say it was a very enjoyable meal. My bowl was better and better the more I experimented with the various sauces provided on the table. This said everything I tried was good. I'd hit up Pho Nam again.

Worst pho ever, give you very little food for what they charge, and meat quality is low

Vietnamese spring rolls - perfect for two people as an appetizer

What a find! This was my first experience with pho, and I can officially say I am hooked. A friend visiting from out of town wanted to go somewhere for pho, and I remembered reading an article in Madison Magazine about Pho Nam so figured we might as well try it out. We were seated right away, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. It was not super loud which was an absolute delight. They were playing some very soothing Asian music lightly in the background and I really enjoyed it. We ordered the Vietnamese spring rolls for an appetizer because they'd been mentioned in the article I read. I'm glad we did, they were super delicious and the peanut sauce that came with them was exquisite. We both ordered pho (it was starting to get cold out, and that's why we came, right?) -- I got the chicken and my friend got the beef (double meat). I think in the future I'd do double meat too, simply because then it truly could keep me satisfied for two full meals instead of just as leftovers. Either way, it was so good and I couldn't stop eating it and by the time we left (with leftovers), I was so full it hurt! When it first came we didn't put any of the sauces or spices in the broth, and even "plain" it was so good. We were hesitant to add to the broth, but when we did the pho was even better! You need to try this place.

It took me a long time to find authentic Vietnamese food at Madison. I finally found one, Pho Nam as the store name on Google map. I love the fish sauce that the retuarant offer because it tastes delicious which I have been searching for a long time. My favorite is papaya salad.

Delicious! Great customer service. Food was hot and fresh. Love that there is a parking lot and it wasn't too busy. Was able to get in, get sat, and food to me all within 15 minutes. The Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk is always a winner in my book. Also was about to get the spring rolls without shrimp and they were perfect! Can't wait to come back!

Not a Vietnamese owned pho restaurant. Came here and had the pho tai and bun bo. Asked them if they had nuoc beo (iykyk) and they didn't. Pho broth tasted a little too sweet for Vietnamese pho. Bun Bo didn't come with the correct veggies you'd normally find as a side dish for it. I wouldn't recommend this place if you wanted authentic Vietnamese food.

Haven't been to this place in awhile. But as I await my order I'm a bit disappointed to see the table card is filthy. A printed card inserted in a wine branded wooden table holder that is rather disgusting and sticky to the touch. Last time I was here I am remembering this same exact card, I'm in the same table I waited at each of the 3 previous visits. As a whole, the restaurant is neat and tidy so that is a positive. The restroom as well is clean. But as I've seen in each of the prior visits, all were at dinner times, there are few people in attendance. Two tables are in use as I write, and the only other table was a couple whom I presumed were finished with their meal, but instead were waiting for their order as well. This time visiting I have become more familiar with Pho, where two of my previous visits were the first and second times. I recall that it was very interesting and enjoyable One of those first visits, I ordered a pork chop which was a sorry mistake. Overcooked and dry. Tonight I'm getting a spicy beef pho bowl and order of chicken wings. The outcome will be written about 30 minutes after these words, or more. The wings were overcooked, midget wings which were most all very dry. Not awful, but not something I'd want to order again. The soup, was take out, so I did have to make my own presentation, which was ultimately very attractive and tasted great. I wish another lime wedge had been included. The single thin wedge was insufficient to make much impact. But the pho IS very enjoyable!

Pho Nam Noodle House Deluxe (Pho Nam Dac Biet)

Fantastic spot for Vietnamese food in Madison! Pho Nam is one of a handful of restaurants in a plaza off Junction Road. I tried two of my go-to items: pho dac biet (deluxe/special) and the egg rolls. A bowl of pho dac biet includes an assortment of sliced beef, meatballs, flank steak, tripe, and soft beef tendon. Something I noticed straight away when the pho arrived was that the broth looked pretty clear. I love that! It tasted wonderful and was just what I needed on a chilly day. The portion of noodles felt smaller than what I've had at most other restaurants that serve pho, and there was only one piece of the soft tendon in my bowl, which is my favorite so I had wished there was more. The broth came piping hot and flavorful. Any condiments you want to add to your bowl are on the side of the table, and you also get a plate of the usual mint leaves, jalapenos, and bean sprouts. An order of egg rolls comes with two crunchy rolls filled with ground pork, vermicelli, julienned carrots, and taro. The appetizer comes along with a side of nuoc cham for you to dip your rolls into. Absolutely scrumptious! The service was perfect - we got taken care of promptly, food was cooked to order and out to the table immediately, and the staff was very courteous. 10/10 would return.

This a legitimately amazing restaurant! Understated decor but very nice staff and the food is fresh and authentic. Try the homemade chili sauce!

A solid 4. Extensive menu with all the choices you'd expect at a pho place. The deluxe pho includes meatballs, tripe, brisket. The broth is long simmered, hearty and flavorful. Noodles are fresh, not mushy. Garnishes of bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños fresh, crisp and flavorful. Nothing unusual, but exactly as it should be prepared. I didn't get to try any of the other menu choices but if the pho is an example, gotta be good.

Great prices, friendly staff, quaint setting. The Pho broth was decent, but ingredients were light. Overall a great experience.

It felt like most of the dish was just the noodles, and it was not balanced (ended up not finishing the noodles). Service is very straightforward. You order up front, and they deliver the food to you. After that, you put away your dishes/trash. Very standard noodle shop. Nothing too crazy. I appreciated that they had a clear window so you could see them making the handpulled noodles and the prices were fair, especially for state street. We got the braised beef noodle which was wonderful. Rich broth, very tender meat, which could have had thicker pieces, but I was pretty impressed with the flavor of the soup. It might have been that it was a particularly cold day and it just hit, but it worked. The pan fried dumplings were okay. The dough was a little thick and there wasn't any soup in them. Overall, I don't think there is another hand pulled noodle place in Madison, at this price and area, so I would say I'm a fan and it's worth trying.
