Flamingo Vintage was the perfect first stop to start our vintage shopping adventure last weekend! Their collection is truly vintage, curated, diverse, and cool. They have stuff going back to the 40's and 50's, but I also found a cute pair of black Adidas Sambas for only $50 which I jumped on. My favorite part about the store is how well it's organized because it made shopping so easy and enjoyable. There's no digging through bins here! We stayed for a long time and the employee was available and friendly, but did not rush or crowd us. read more

Went here during the Corktown Music Fest, and was pleasantly surprised. This place is cute and has lots to choose from. However, some of the prices seemed very high yet others seemed very reasonable. Not sure if it's a consignment shop or not, cuz that might play in too how things are priced. The staff was great and the assortment of vintage wares was extraordinary. We were doing a vintage tour and this was one of our spots. At first glance, everything is very organized and the place is decorated really well! The guy who was working at the time said nothing to us the whole time we were there, but I suppose that's not a deal breaker at all. They had a large selection of clothing as well as accessories, but it was mostly women's. The men's section was really tiny. I did not end up buying anything, as I just didn't find anything that fit well enough. It was also pretty pricy for what it was. I don't think the prices reflected the actual value of the pieces. It was kinda out of our way, but it's not too far away from other stuff. The parking was just street parking, so we found a spot on a side street and walked over. I would go again though! Super cute building and decor. Very helpful sales associates that don't bug you or push sales while you're shopping. Dont expect your goodwill or Salvation Army price points. The clothing here is clearly curated and thoughtfully picked for an easy shopping experience, which some of the prices reflect. With that being said, I did feel that some of the pieces were slightly overpriced. read more

Note, this review is coming from someone who prefers 20s, 30s, 40s and sometimes 50s vintage... This place really surprised me. Judging by their Instagram I was expecting to be disappointed by a sea of 70s polyester and 80s tees. They have those of course, but they also carry a decent amount of earlier eras. Furthermore, a lot of their later stuff is actually interesting in its own right (which I find is rarely the case in vintage stores). I saw "70s does 30s" and "80s does 40s" pieces that broadened my mind a bit. Prices were great. And this is to say nothing of their absolutely incredible merchandising and the amazing vintage space they're in. Employees were amiable, they don't stalk you, and they let you try on items at your whim. It was such an easy-going, laid back vibe. Just a warning though, I tripped several times on a huge protrusion under the rug in the back of the store, it's totally hidden and easy to trip over - accident waiting to happen. read more

THE BEST VINTAGE CLOTHING STORE IN DETROIT... NO QUESTION!!! I travel quite a bit and I always make it a habit when I'm in a different town to check out a vintage clothing store when I get time. This place "Flamingo Vintage" is located in a neighborhood called "Mexicantown" which is Southwest Detroit. Nikki (the owner) was very knowledgeable and had an absolutely wonderful selection of TRUE VINTAGE jewelry, shirts, purses, shoes, hats, boots, jeans, dresses, you name it. GREAT selection of WOMEN AND MEN'S stuff! She also could not have been nicer. The store is VERY clean, well-organized, and there's even a lounge area in the back to relax while your friends, spouses or whoever may be in the fitting rooms. I think that's AWESOME! Plus, her Flamingo wallpaper back in that area is incredible. There's also complimentary hand sanitizer to use as you walk in and she even has masks upon request if you may have forgotten yours. I thought that was outstanding and I felt very comfortable there... immediately It's a very relaxing and great vibe the minute you walk in there, which vintage stores I've visited in past don't always make you feel that way. Also, her music kicks ass. If I could give this place 50 Stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and if you're in Detroit take time to make a trip to the Southwest and visit this true gem. Ok, this could quite possibly be the coolest vintage store in Detroit. They are relatively new to the area, having been open a whopping three months - but man, what a store. The attention to detail is even better than what you see in the pics folks. This is a vintage clothing store in an actual 100-year-old vintage clothing store - it doesn't get any better. The owner is an awesome woman who clearly knows her fashion and how to present it. My wife and daughter love vintage clothing, and felt right at home here. So often you come to stores like this an the owners hover, or try and up sell you, in part because the selection tends to be small. Not here - there's a great mix of men's and women's clothing, as well as accessories. And while I never would have thought to come to Southwest Detroit/Mexicantown for fashion/clothing, this is part of a growing group of unique small businesses that could quickly make this area a new destination area in the D. read more
