I walked in and gasped, I had 5 dresses to try in 2 minutes. The first one I tried I fell in love with. The most beautiful dress I have EVER seen. I quickly found my second dress for the rehearsal which Rachel picked out. I would have never have tried it myself and I immediately felt beautiful in it. All of the staff worked so hard to make it a wonderful experience. I am 60 and my body is not what it use to be. I was so discouraged with the dresses on the market that made me feel dumpy or showed too much skin. The staff helped me feel wonderful and I have the right to look beautiful whatever your body is. I left with a new attitude of dressing thanks to them. The store is absolutely stunning. It is worth the effort. Yesterday, Friday November 8, 2024 I sang songs written by author/musician Heather Buchanan and Tracy Kash for Heather's newest novel titled, VICTORS. It is about Black musicians who went to France to help fight in World War I. Ultimately, they were largely responsible for our victory and when they weren't fighting they were playing music, sharing the new jazz sound which influenced not only Europe but the world. My dress, purse, fan, long strand of pearls and headpiece, all purchased from the Peacock Room in the Park Shelton were a smash hit! They also offer a wide variety of sizing so those of us with more ample curves have options, too. When I walked in, I fell in love with a nice cowl neck top. Made in America (which they noted on the tag) the top was black and had a shiny silver spotted pattern on the cowl area of the shirt. It was different! The pricing was inline with what I've paid for other pieces made in America, which I personally value and seek out when shopping. When I turned the corner in the back, a whole new area revealed itself. Several racks of wardrobe pieces that will all stand out in a crowd. I told my husband that some of them I saw myself wearing when I finally doubled down on my "fun and kooky art teacher vibe" but not everything is that bold. There were some very smart pieces, some more traditional silhouettes but in bold colors. There is also mid-century modern clothes that were retro but also in the here and now. I haven't intended on buying a bright pink party dress, but when I slipped it on in the fitting room I was thrilled - it fit like a glove. The dress was an XXL which I don't think I've ever worn, but knowing fashion sizing can sometimes be wonky I gave it a go. It had some frill, a front zipper that smartly hid itself (and thank goodness, a dress I can zip up for myself and I don't have to shimmy into), and the best part... POCKETS! REAL FUNCTIONAL POCKETS. It was even on their sale rack for a great price.
