It was my husband's wish to have his funeral at Wood's Funeral Home on Ammon Rd in Idaho Falls. The gentleman had no problem with this request. I specifically told him I wanted an autopsy performed. My husband had just recently had a pacemaker/defibrillator combo put in, and I wanted to see if it had failed or could give some idea of what had happened. I was never notified of when his body had been transferred to Wood's in Idaho Falls. There was no autopsy performed, which even if Eckersell wasn't going to be doing the funeral they should have conveyed my wishes for one. They should have also let me know when his body had been transferred. It wasn't until the next day that I got a call from my FATHER IN LAW, that I had to come sign the papers for the funeral. They had been contacted and had taken matters into their own hands and arranged the funeral with no input on my part. Neither Eckersell or Woods had any right to allow them to be the sole decision makers on MY HUSBAND'S FUNERAL. They both went against my express request for an autopsy, which was my call, and no one else's. They did not let me know when his body had been transferred, but informed my in-laws, again not their call. I was the spouse, I should have had first and foremost saying in what was happening, not been an afterthought to sign the papers. If I could give a zero rating I would.

And had plenty of staff to assist during the viewings and funeral services. Even the service we didn't have at the funeral home. They handled every detail. I am very grateful for the job they did. It's incredibly insensitive to charge an additional $150 after thousands of dollars just for me (1 person) to say goodbye. To make matters worse, I scheduled an appt and they had another active funeral going on when I arrived. My mother's body was on a fridge metal gurney and I couldn't access her hands. Hardly a "prepared viewing". The minute I stepped out after the "viewing", the guy asked me how and when I'd like to pay.... Stating "today or tomorrow would be ideal". I lost her 2 days prior. I understand it's a business and a job for you... but learn some basic respect!!!

He was criticizing organ donation, including describing in detail how the body leaks fluid if certain donations are made and the lower part of the body must be wrapped in plastic inside the casket. We will never make arrangements with Nalders again.
