Excellent food, reasonable prices, and English translations on the menu. Couldn't ask for much more!

The interior is one of a traditional German village eating establishment, but being located close to an American base, it make concessions such a menu with pictures and English to make it easier to order. The "Stammtisch" (German for "regulars' table) is not a table, but a section of bar. Great traditional fare with accompanying beer or wine. I dined on the traditional schnitzel and it did not disappoint as it was accompanied by a great local beer. Keep room for dessert and some schnapps to help with the digestion. NOTE: it is a smallish establishment so you need to make reservations to dine, it is well worth the effort to make a reservation and dine. Guten appetite!

So take a butcher who know hows how to cook and how to respect the cut of meat, add a healthy dose of love of food and Bavarian/German cuisine, and you have a quaint little restaurant near Ramstein AFB/Landstuhl. If you are within driving distance, don't miss this gem! I had the "Garlic Marinaded Pork Ribeye" and selected the pan fried potatoes. OMG OMG OMG ... meat cut thin so two cuts served... the garlic was there front and center but NOT overpowering in any way. A bit of herbed butter, roasted garlic cloves that melt in your mouth, and these fantastically flavored potatoes that are just divine. All served with a generous side of a parsley and ?? Sour cream to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bring cash, no plastic. I wonder if I can get a free ticket change if I tell Delta I'm "dying"... they just don't need to know I'm dying to go back...

Weberstübchen - Forgot to take a pic... I swapped out the home made "chips" for the pan fried. Glad I did!

Luxury hotel and restaurant with a deep medieval history to explore…read more The castle ("schloss") originally built in 1152 by famed Emperor Frederick I (aka "Barbarossa" or in English: 'red beard') was part of an extensive network of defensive positions designed to protect the SW borders of the Rheinland Palatinate. The original works were further strengthened by landed-knight Franz von Sickingen to supposedly withstand 16th century artillery. His efforts were less than successful since the castle was destroyed and rebuilt several times afterwards without much success. The current ruins date from the French inflicted destruction of 1689 during the Nine-Years War (which incidentally engulfed not only all of Europe but also spilled over to Asia, the Caribbean, and the New World, where it was known in the Colonies as "King William's War"). History aside, the current establishment is resplendent with first-class room accommodations (renovated and well appointed... check out the eiderdown pillows and comforters) and an impressive 4-star restaurant with changing menus and fantastic chefs. I highly recommend all the local specialties ("spargel" or white asparagus is in season in spring and should not be passed up if it's on the menu as well as all the local game--trout, boar, red deer--if in season and if listed on the menu), but everything is exceptional so let your own tastes and preferences guide you. The wine list is....well....magnificent, but pricey. Service is typical high-end European (for Americans who've never been out of their country before, this means "grow patience, be humble, and just go with the flow"... you won't be disappointed). Don't pass up an opportunity to walk the grounds and review the ramparts. It's a lovely workout and the changes in elevation are good for the cardiovascular... Vielen Dank for reading my review. Guten appetit!

Wonderful hotel in an old, beautiful, medieval structure…read more We stayed here monthly for almost two years, and our late evening/morning host always put out food and local beer for us on our late evening arrival from Ramstein AB. The rooms are modern, quiet, inviting, exceptionally clean, well-maintained by an efficient but friendly staff who were very pleasant, had old-world manners, and regarded us with understandably professional distance. The rooms were a bit smaller than those in most American hotels, but they are lavishly appointed and very comfortable. Despite the considerable language barrier, our hosts were very accommodating: we made frequent trips to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, visiting wounded/injured American GIs, and our host always arranged reliably for our transportation - which we appreciated very much. An excellent place to stay.
